Hiding something?

JT still grins and nods. "Good."

Not having a clue what else to say, he's quiet for several moments until he changes the subject. "Guess we better keep walking so we can make it back inside eventually. I don't want Bree to think I abandoned her."

Under the anesthesia, strange dreams come to Axel's mind. Not bad, not good, oddly familiar yet foreign too. It was a strange world of unconsciousness that wouldn't lift for several hours. When it does though, he finds himself right where he'd been the last he'd seen of Misty.

Still in a thick fog, Axel's eyes try to open as they move about lethargically. He felt like he was still dreaming, trying to run, but finding he wasn't going anywhere. Blinking a couple times, he tries to focus. At first, he wasn't even sure he knew what was going on or why he was here, but gradually he remembers. There were lights on, but the little window near the ceiling on the other wall was dark, proving that hours had passed.

Swallowing hard, Axel licks his dry lips, then lets his eyes fall shut again. "Am I... still alive?" he mumbles groggily.

"I don't know." Leo shrugs at Ryan's question. "I know you wouldn't make fun of me, but  I know my hobby isn't typical either. I guess I might laugh at me too."

Hearing Eli might tease him, he chuckles. "That doesn't surprise me. If your brother doesn't ease someone, either he doesn't like them, or something is wrong. That much I've figured out."

Arriving to Mom and Pop's a while later, Leo finds a parking space and turns off the car. Turning to Ryan, he just looks at her for several minutes, the lights from the parking lot casting a soft glow against her face. Whether she was comfortable or not, she'd done herself up right pretty tonight, and only the dead wouldn't notice.

Reaching out, Leo cradles the side of her face with his palm and without saying anything, he leans in to find her lips with his own. It was a tender kiss, but filled with an emotion that proved more existed here than mere physical attractions. His feelings for Ryan were growing, and he lets her know through this simple gesture.

A click signals Kip's door being unlocked and it cracks open before Karla can walk too far. Half of Kip's face is hidden, but one could see his eyes were red. He tries to hide them though, refusing to look Karla in the eye, and seeming to almost hide behind the door for an unknown reason.

"If you need anything, let someone know," he mentions quietly. The spark in his voice was gone. "Sorry I... I left you. I, um... didn't feel good all of a sudden."

Do u believe

Amanda shakes her head and gives a small chuckle at JT. She thought it was overly cute his cheeks were a crimson color.

"Well, Jack Timble I would love to go on a date with you some time, somewhere."

Giving a smile she looked back out across the field. It was often funny how things worked out, but this just proved again God had planes for everything. This could very well have been his plan to them being here on top of keeping Bree safe.

Looking down at Axel Misty just smile. Brushing a hand over his eyes she whispers knowing he would be out any moment now.

"No counting, just close your eyes and relax. Everything will be ok, and before you know it, you'll be awake."

In no time Axel was out, and Misty was getting to work hooking him up to the IVs and starting on his hand. Misty hoped if all went well the surgery would only take about an hour.

Ryan can feel her face turn red as Leo comments about her looking pretty. It was nice to hear that even if she probably wouldn't ware a dress for a long while ago it was still nice for even her to feel pretty.

Giving a side long glance to Leo Ryan quirked an eyebrow at his comment. Did he really think she would laugh at him?

"You really think I would have laughed at you? You know better than that. I never would of dont that. More than likly I would have wanted to see you just like I do again."

Drawing quiet for a moment Ryan remember's her brother reaction Ryan's face turned up in a small grin.

"How ever I can't promise sooner or later Eli isnt going to tease you. But its only because he liked it too."

Feeling a little worried for Kip and thinking it strange he just left here there alone with the others Karla stands when Erik comes back.

Making her way out of the room they all had been in and finding her way back up the steps Karla goes to Kip's door and for a long moment just stands outside of it. She didnt want to bother him if something was wrong, but she didnt want him to come looking for her and not be able to find her ether.

Finally giving a knock on the door Karla stands there again for a moment before talking soft, but loud enough through the door Kip could here her.

"Kip...I, just wanted to let you know that I was going back to the spare room. Erik told me you were up here, so I...just didnt want you to come looking for me and not be able to find me."

Not really knowing what else to say Karla takes a few steps back from the door before turning and getting ready to head back to her own room.

Ridiculous

JT knows his face must be red and he looks down at the ground, a crooked grin still on his face. Looking up at Amanda, he chuckles.

"Well okay then. Amanda Fuller, I'm asking you on a date. Don't ask me where yet 'cause I don't know, but I'll think of something if you actually do say yes."

Axel smiles and winks at Jess. "Alright. I'll see you later then." Returning the squeeze to her hand, he nods. "Don't go too far."

Once he's alone with Misty, he settles back on the bed. "Well... my hand is in your hands, Doc." He tries not to let the nervousness show in his eyes. "Tell me when to start counting backward.'

At Ryan's comment, Leo puts his head back and laughs. "You may look beautiful in that dress, but one thing you don't look is comfortable. Come in your work clothes for all I care. To see you out in the audience is enough motivation for anybody to be on stage."

Keeping one eye on the road, he gives her a sidelong glance. "I didn't figure you'd want to come again... but I can get you in free again. I'm... glad you like it. I guess I was always kinda scared to tell you about it. People laugh at stuff like that, ya know... they have. I thought maybe if... if you liked it then it I might get away with not so much teasing."

Erik and Kyle keep things lively in the living room for a while until the food was either gone or they were too full to eat any more. Jokes are flung back and forth and Twila enjoys the humor as much as anybody.

It's been a while though, when Erik finally looks at the clock. Furrowing his brow, he suddenly realizes that an awful lot of time has passed and Kip hasn't shown back up again. Seeing a shadow in the doorway, he calls to William. "Hey, Kip still out there?"

The older man sticks his head in the room. "No... why?"

"Well is his dad still here?"

"No. Left about twenty minutes ago."

"Oh... okay, thanks." Erik waits for William to leave before looking to Twila and sighing. "I'll be right back."

It was only a couple minutes before Erik returns to the room and sits down again, keeping his voice low. "His door's locked and he won't talk to me. One of these days I'm gonna make him refuse to see his father. This is ridiculous."

Cheesy

Jess gives a smile at Axel as she takes his good hand and gives it a little squeeze. She new she could of called him, but she also wanted to surprise him.

"Well I was trying to surprise you because I hadn't told you for sure I could take off work. If I had called than, that would of runed the surprise now wouldn't it have?"

Leaning in Jess gave Axel a quick soft kiss on the cheek as she eyes beam. She new He was worried, and a little scared but she tried her best to reassure him. Everything would be ok, she just new it.

Taking the clip bored from Axel again after he sign Misty smiled. It was good to see Jess there and being so sportive for Axel. That in itself would help Axel with his recovery.

"Ok, I hate to cut this short on you both but its time to start."

Misty gives a soft smile.

"Jess your more than welcome to wait in the extra room. Once the surgery is over I will come and get you so you can be with Axel ok?"

Jess gives a small nod to Misty know it was important she wasnt there. They needed everything to be very clean and there couldn't be a chance she could carry dirt in.

"I'll be here when you wake up again ok? Everything is gonna work out."

Jess gives Axel's hand another squeeze as she smile at him again, her eyes twinkling.

Listing closely to what JT said Amanda was wondering why he didnt have a lady in his life. He was smart, cute and really nice. When working with him before she started talking to him more and more she always guessed he has someone at home that would be waiting for him. But now talking more and she understood all to much what he was going through.

Giving a small laugh and turning her head to look at JT Amanda's smile was wide as her eyes twinkled in the peek of sunlight that shined through.

"Cheesy but not lame. I like cheesy. And, if you asked me on a date, I'd say yes."

Once in the car with Leo the smile was still on Ryan's face. She had enjoyed meeting some of the people Leo had danced with. A little pride came from being introduced to them as his girl too. I just felt nice to being appreciated.

Looking over at Leo Ryan smiles and gives a nod. She had enjoyed herself more than she would admit to anyone, But she would to Leo he deserved to know.

"I did like it actually. The music was upbeat and pleasant to listen to, the dancing was amazing, and well you were part of it. That was even better."

Slipping her hand into Leo's free hand Ryan give it a tiny squeeze. She was so proud of him and being able to dance. Some people might think it was girly, but Ryan thought it was amazing.

"Do you think maybe...tomorrow I could come again to watch? But this time I leave the dress at home."

Lame

Leo returns Ryan's kiss, ignoring the fact that Eli was cocking his head and staring at them. Smiling, he drapes his arms over Ryan's shoulders as she leans back against him. "Pizza it is then. I just gotta wrap up a few things back here, then I'm ready to go."

Eli thumbs to the door. "Ait. I'll get the car and..." He smirks a little. "Never mind. I know Ryan will want to ride with you, so I'll meet you guys at Mom and Pop's."

Leo gives a little wave, then sets his chin down on top of Ryan's head, rocking her a little. "Mm... I'm glad you guys decided to stay even when I didn't show up. I was afraid Eli would make you leave."

"Hey, Leo!" Another one of the dancers/actors comes up, to give him a hearty slap on the shoulder. "This your girl."

Leo grins and pulls Ryan away to turn her around. "Sure is."

The man smiles, his eyes twinkling as he extends his hand to Ryan. "Great to meet you. You're all Leo talks about."

Leo's face reddens a little. "Ryan, this is my pal Joe. He's the one that got me started in all this."

"Good thing too." Joe nods, setting his hands on his hips. "He's one of the best we got."

Leo rolls his eyes. "We got pizza going on. But I'll help clean up back here first."

"Nah." Joe waves him off. "Go have fun. We got it."

"You sure?"

"Yep." Joe grins. "Would you rather clean up or go on a date with this chick?"

Leo laughs. "Mmm... I'd have to take the date."

"My point exactly." Joe waves them away. "See ya later."

"Yeah, yeah." Leo slings his arm around Ryan's shoulders and heads towards the hall. "All I gotta do is get on my own clothes and I'll be ready."

Within minutes, he had reemerged and was walking Ryan outside into the night air. Getting in his car, he starts for Mom and Pop's. "So I know tonight wasn't really your thing but... did you enjoy it at least a little bit?"

Kip nods thoughtfully, trying to understand where Karla was coming from and thinking maybe he did. "We're just hanging out in the living room tonight... pretty low-keyed."

Offering the best smile he could, he guides Karla from the room, leading the way downstairs. He knew now she felt awkward and he didn't want her to, but he also realized now that he needed to be a little more careful than he had been.

Getting to the living room, the others are chatting while they eat, and they greet Karla with smiles and waves. It was subs tonight with potato chips and other side dishes - a casual meal. Kip invites Karla to sit with him on the couch near the coffee table and joins in the conversations, letting Karla take part as much as she felt comfortable with.

It wasn't twenty minutes later that Shirley taps on the doorway. "Kip?"

He looks up in surprise after taking a swig of pop. "Huh?"

"Someone is at the door for you."

Kip furrows his brow. "Who?"

Shirley hesitates. "It's your father."

Erik gives Kip a look and shakes his head, but Kip stands anyway, setting his napkin aside. "I'll make it quick."

Erik sighs. "Kip, just stay and finish eating."

"I'm almost done anyway."

"Just - " Erik stops as Kip disappears through the doorway. Sighing, he returns to his conversation with Kyle about self defense, giving up on stopping his friend. He never could get through to Kip about this.

At the front door, one could see through the glass to outside where Kip stood on the porch to meet his father. From inside, nothing could be heard, but anyone could see that his father was yelling angrily at him. Kip did not take part in an argument, but stood slouched, hands in his pockets, and his head bent against the verbal attack. It was the picture of a whipped puppy if there ever was one, and he took the attack without a fight... as always.

JT chuckles as the conversation is turned in his direction. "Hmm." He leans on the fence next to Amanda, contemplating his answer. It was hard enough trying to figure out what she meant by not knowing what she was looking for, if she was looking for it, let alone trying to explain why he didn't have a woman of his own.

"I guess because the right one hasn't come along. Oh, I've had some take interest in me, but it didn't take long for me to realize they just thought I was a rich doctor. Once they found out the excess went back to charity, they were gone."

He shrugs lamely. "I suppose I gave up looking... but on the days Bree's not around, it gets kinda lonely. I used to like the quiet... but now the silence just reminds me that I'm alone."

JT pauses, clearing his throat. He wasn't sure if it was good or bad he was sharing intimate details about how he felt. But it wasn't hard to talk with Amanda about it. Thinking in the quiet for several moments, he finally gives her a sidelong glance. "It's gonna be a while 'til it's good enough weather for camping... I'd be a fool if I didn't ask you out before then."

He bites his lip before a laugh slips out and he shakes his head. "That was lame."

Axel follows Misty's instructions, knowing he was at her mercy. The garb wasn't very comfortable, but he knew a clean environment was best, even his clothing.

Once he's settling down, he sits on the edge of the bed with a clipboard to scan through the pages. He did trust Misty, but he'd been in the hospital a few times to know that paperwork was always a part of it, whether it was TJY or not. Writing with his left hand he did pretty well, having not been able to use his right for so long.

Starting to fill things out and sign where needed, Jess' voice makes him look up. A thin smile spreads on his face and he stands up to give her a hug. "Car trouble? You should have called me. I could have come over before coming here and taken a look."

He taps her nose with his finger. "Glad you made it though. Thought Misty might put me under  and I might not get to see you before I drifted off to dreamland."

"Ha..."

Looking out at Kip, Karla gives as nod. She understood what he was saying and she knew they wanted to help, but this was all new to her.

"I understand. I just need everyone to give me a little breathing room so I can get used to this. I've been alone for so long that... I just need small bursts so I can adapt to having others there I guess."

Karla offers a smile to show she was thankful for the help and everything everyone was doing. Everything being thrown at her at once was just overwhelming and she needed that time to mourn her loss and get used to something new.

"Okay, lets get to dinner before everyone wonders where we are."

Giving another smile, Karla was ready to start. Start a new life, and start getting used to being around people. It would be short bursts at first, but she yearned to be with others so she would adapt quickly.

"Ha..."

Amanda gives another laugh at JT's question. She didn't mean to laugh at everything he said. It just happened the questions he was asking were things she herself didn't even know. Strange but true when all she did was work alot.

"Well...you see I don't even know what qualification a guys needs to have for me. I would guess funny, kind hearted, understanding....Its pretty much a go on a date with me and see how it goes. Even with some of the things I listed off guys haven't lasted long because I just dont feel comfortable or feel like I click with them."

She new it sounded silly but it was the truth. There was only one time she ever was close to being with a guy but he never did get use to the fact she could be called away at any time to go to the hospital. Every other guy she tryed dating, was good looking, nice, funny, smart, but she just didn't feel...it.

Coming to a fence Amanda stops and leans against it just looking out over the field for a long moment. She hadn't been to this area of the ranch yet so she just wanted to take everything in while she could. Finally looking at JT again she smile.

"So what about you? How come you don't have a leading lady yet?"

"Pst..."

Still keeping her one arm around Leo's neck and staying close to him Ryan uses the other like she is shoeing her brother off.

"...when have you known me to turn down pizza mmm?"

Turning back to Leo Ryan leans in pressing her lips to his for a long moment as her emotions and energy wash over them. She felt so happy, so full of joy she couldnt explained it any other way. Pulling away she just smiles, turning her back to Leo and leaning aganst his chesh.

"Alright kids, lets go have some fun eh?"

Qualifications

Kip waits for Karla to get to the door, noticing her reddened eyes. He nods a little. "Yeah... try to eat a little at least."

He thinks a moment, shifting his weight. "Um... not everyone is here. Just Kyle, Alice, Erik and Twila. And Twila wanted me to apologize for her. She felt bad for coming on so strong earlier, but she really does want to help if you'll let her. We... we all do." He shrugs lamely. "We care about ya and well... sometimes a person just isn't quite sure how to show it properly. I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable."

Leo laughs, his eyes sparkling. "Well I guess I'm glad you're in a dress then..." He gives her a little once-over. "For more than one reason."

Drawing back a little, he takes her hands in his. "Just don't tell the guys that I'm graceful - I'll never hear the end of it."

Eli ambles up behind Ryan, setting his hands on his hips and just shaking his head. "Leo Barnsworth... you're something else." He grins a little. "I was on my way to suggesting some pizza but... if you got a little thing going on back here, I might just head back to the apartment."

Leo shrugs. "We're not gonna have a party until after the last show this weekend. I can leave anytime."

"Well?" Eli looks to his sister. "What do you say? Pizza?"

"Mmm... yeah." JT understood what Amanda was saying, and he could relate. "I know what you mean. I like helping people... but sometimes I have to remind myself that not only am I not God, but I'm not the only doctor that can help people either. I can't kill myself to be in the operating room twenty-four/seven."

He grins as he walks beside her. "Not that I always take my own advice, but it's a good thought."

Breathing in deep, he looks around the ranch, quiet for a few minutes. "So you're picky, huh? What sort of qualifications does a guy have to have with you anyway?"

If I wasnt...

After crying herself to sleep Karla now woke to the sound of Kip's voice. She must have been out for hours and never would have known. Sitting up and looking at the closed door Karla just thinks for a long moment. She was still a guest here and everyone was being kind the least she could do was join them for dinner even if she really didnt want to. Calling back she pulls the overs back on the bed.

"Just a minute."

Getting out of the bed Karla walks across the floor to the door and slowly opened it looking out at Kip. Her eyes were still so tired, but it was mostly from stress and crying that had done that. Trying to give the best smile she can Karla opens the door a little more.

"I'll join you guys for dinner. I should probably eat something."

Looking up at the knock a smile forms on Misty's face as Axel enters. She had just finished preping a table for him that she would do the surgery on, and the extra bedroom with linen and other items. For the first night he would stay in the infirmary with her so she could watch him than he would move to the extra bedroom as he recovered and she watched over him.

"Hey there Axel. Your right on time. Come on lets get you prepped and everything ok its gonna take about an hour before we can do the surgery. So we can get you comfortable and than worry about signing the papers and what not ok?"

Misty shows Axel to where the grown and pants were that he was to wair, and the table and bed he would be staying in the infirmary on.Checking his vittles, giving him a shot that would work slowly but put him to sleep.

Once dressed and ready Misty brings out the paper work. There wasnt much but it was enough to go through that kind of made it look like a lot.

" I just want you to read over this Axel and sigh if you agree. Its pretty much a form that says yes you have given consent to this and you understand the risks so on and so forth. I know you trust me and all but its just something I have to have you do."

Fearing she was to late Jess quickly makes her way across JTY to the infirmary. She had promised Axel she would be there for him even if she couldn't be in the room she wanted to be there when he woke up. It was the whole reason she had taken off work today and now she was running late.

Giving a knock on the door and opening it slowly Jess give a wide grin as she see Axel and Misty. She always liked seeing him, but for some reason in a hospital gown he looked uber cute.

"Hi, sorry I am late. My car wouldn't start this morning."

Wrapping her arm tightly around Leo Ryan dosnt let go for a long moment. He was hot, and sweaty but she didn't care. At this moment, she just wanted to hold him, not to mention she was use to being a little dirty after working in a auto shop.

Finally pulling away a little Ryan just looks up at him smiling for a long moment. She was so impressed with him, and she felt like she was over flowing with a whole new emotion that she herself couldn't even identify.

"If I wasnt in this dress right now, I'd kick the crap out of you for standing me up the last two weeks."

Ryan can't help the grin that made its way on her face. She wasnt really mad at Leo anymore, but she couldn't let him get away that easy.

"But, I do think this was a nice surprised so I will let you get away with it this once. You were amazing up there Leo. Who ever thought you could be so graceful."

A little humor dances in Ryan's eyes as she leans in and give him a small kiss on the lips before pulling away again just smiling.

Zipping her hoodie a little father up under she chin Amanda sticks her hands in the pockets. It wasnt to cold here, but there was a definite chill in the air. It felt good though, being out here in the open space a smells, the sounds it was all so amazing. It made her lungs feel good, better than being in the town all the time. She could deffintly tell the difference.

As JT comment about being a workaholic Amanda gives a laugh that grows at the comment of having to do something for fun.

"You actually think I have fun outside of work? I work, come home am exhausted read, watch some tv and go to sleep. Well...I do have a flower garden I work in on my days off. I guess I have gone on some dates too but that was months ago. I wouldnt consider that fun thought they always ended badly. I'm a pretty picky person."

Continuing to walk Amanda takes in the sighs of the ranch. Some of the buildings you could tell were older, and you could tell some were new. The mixtures of the old and new seemed to blend in so well though. It really did give the feeling that each build had to have ment something to still be standing next to the newer ones and look like they fit just right still.

"Mmm...you know I like to hike, and go camping too but I haven't done that in years. Now that I think about it, it really is kind of sad how much I work and let my life pass me by. I guess I just simply think its fun to save other people's lives. Sometimes I forget its my job and I just do it. "

Looking at JT Amanda gives a smile to him as her eyes gave a small sparkle. She did love her job and forget thats what it was sometimes. Maybe thats why she never took time off. But maybe, maybe she would have to start. Saving other peoples lives maybe she needed to learn to save her own and have a little more fun.

Mad at me?

JT gives a soft chuckle and leads the way to the door. He knew that Bree was in good hands, and he wouldn't be gone long.

Once outside, he takes a deep breath of fresh air. His hands retreat to his pockets as he strolls with Amanda beside him, and he picks a well-worn path around the ranch. "So tell me, Amanda... I know we're both workaholics, but there's gotta be something you do for fun."

"Whoa, wha... wait..." Eli is dragged along behind Ryan, but relents, snaking through the crowd. Once she spots Leo though, he's left alone to amble slowly, taking his time down the back hall.

Leo sees Ryan coming, and a smile immediately forms. Having her rush to him with a hug, he laughs and wraps his arms around her, squeezing her tightly. Still hot and sweaty from the night, it doesn't seem to matter.

Drawing back a little, he gives her lips a soft kiss. "You mad at me?" he asks. "For standing you up?"

Axel knocks on the infirmary door, a little hesitant to enter. Why he was nervous, he really didn't know. It just felt like the outcome of this surgery would determine what he did the rest of his life. He could have gone through this several years ago, but then, he hadn't wanted to take the risk. Now it wasn't much of a choice.

Biting his lip, he approaches Misty with a little wave. "Your patient has arrived."

Several hours had passed. Kip pads quietly down the hallway, stopping in front of what was now Karla's door. Tapping it lightly, he pauses a moment.

"Karla? We're gonna have some supper soon... do you want anything?"

Hot and Sweaty

Giving a smile to JT Amanda gives a small nod. Being inside so much she was starting to get cabin fever and feel cooped. A walk would defiantly be nice.

"Yes, I thought you would never ask."

Standing her hand still in JT's Amanda's grin holds. These last few days with JT and Bree had been full of stress and worry but at the same time she had gotten to know JT a little better and pick up on small things. He had such a big heart that not the normal person could see. She felt so comfortable with him now.

Hearing her brother's laugh next to her Ryan gives him a quick jab to the ribs turning her head to look at him. Her own smile shone on her face she wanted to laugh too but not at Leo only the whole situation and how silly she felt.

As the production continues Ryan watchs intently her eyes on Leo most of the time the shock finally had worn off and she was able to enjoy the show now. If asked what it was about maybe she could give someone a rough idea but mostly she just watch Leo and his dancing. It was amazing and everything he was doing she could only wish she was that limber.

When the curtains come to the close Ryan can't help herself but stand and clap. She really was proud of Leo and everything he had accomplished here.

When the people start to file out of the auditorium Ryan takes Eli hand almost pulling him along as it was aparent she was excited. Eather that or she just wanted to get of the dang shirt she had on.

"Come on Bro, lets go find Leo."

Finally making it out and through the people Ryan finally straightens out her shirt brushing it down. Standing up right again she looks around till her eyes spot Leo. Giving another large smile Ryan walks through the people the best she can to get to him. Even if he was hot and sweaty she was going to throw her arms around him.

Stunned

Kip stops as Karla calls to him, and he looks over his shoulder, giving her a little nod. He didn't really think she'd been mad at him, but he did sense she needed her space.

Pulling the door behind him, he shuts it gently before returning to the others to give them an update.

JT is a little surprised as Amanda takes her hand, bu the doesn't mind closing his fingers around hers. He gives her a grateful smile. "Yeah... I know. Thanks for the reminder though. Sometimes it gets tough and I forget those things."

Still holding her hand, his thumb rubs it absentmindedly. "Would you... like to take a walk?"

Leo sees Ryan recognizes him, and a little grin comes to his face before he backs up with the others, disappearing into the back of the darkened stage.

As Eli spots Leo, his eyes widen and his jaw drops. Pointing lamely, he looks to Ryan as he looks at him, totally shocked. "Leo?" he mouths silently. "That's Leo?!"

Looking back to the stage, the dancers were retreating, and Eli's eyes are still wide. This explained an awful lot - why Leo had been so busy lately, why he'd been unavailable in the evenings. Only one dance number had been performed so far, but it was such that already said a lot of hours of practice had been put into this. And Leo was good. But Leo? Leo Barnsworth? Clown Leo?

Eli covers his mouth as a smile started to betray him. He really wasn't trying to make fun of Leo at all, but this was so hard to believe that he couldn't help but find it amusing. Glancing to Ryan again, he just shakes his head. Leo certainly had not stood them up. He'd been planning this as a surprise all along.

The show proceeds with more dance routines, intertwined in several singing numbers by local actors with beautiful voices. Leo only appeared to sing within groups for backup vocals, but when it came to the dancing, he took center stage more than once, either dancing with the leading lady or showcasing. His acting was done well, and everyone had memorized all of their lines. As the storyline went, it became apparent that he was playing the part of the second young man in the girl's life, who at the end would be rejected as she opted for the leading man instead. Heartbroken, the man cast aside's last dance was one of torment, beautifully choreographed. But those paying close attention to the play would notice at the very end, a newly introduced young woman was waiting in the wings, giving hope that the man had yet a future.

The show ends with the wedding of the leading couple on Christmas day, bringing a happy ending to the show and wrapping up all the little plot lines. After the curtain falls, the crowd demands everyone take a bow. Forming a line, all the actors reappeared onstage. The main couple were in the middle with Leo directly beside them in his slot. They all hold hands and take several bows to everyone clapping. Leo's eyes though, remained in the front row. Everyone was hot, sweaty and tired, but his eyes sparkled with a hope that his disappearing acts lately were forgiven.

Retreating with the rest of the crew, the curtain falls for the last time. Backstage everything is a bustling chaos. They would perform two more times over the weekend and tonight had been fantastic with minimal glitches.

Leo grabs a water bottle and takes a long swig, his hair wet with sweat and his heart still pumping from the workout. Receiving pats on the back, he nods to some of the others and joins in the mini celebration. Glancing down the back hall though, he sees a few people starting to filter out and he keeps his eye open for Ryan. If he could spot her before she left, he'd go talk to her.

Shock

Following Kip up the steps and to what would be her room Karla enters looking around at how big and grand it was. Going to the dresser and than the bed she runs her hand along the wood. It was so amazing it was so pretty, and she was so lucky to have a friend  who cared to shair this with her. Turning to look at Kip as he was about to leave she calls to him.

"Kip, Thank you. I'm not angry at you. I just have alot of mixed emotions right now I need to work through. But you didn't do anything wrong. You actually did everything right. I'm lucky I met you."

Karla didnt know how to express her feelings very well. She never really had to before unless she was just venting to Rin. It was hard finding the words to express herself, but she tryed and she would continue to try. She only hoped Kip would have the patients to listen.

Finally sinking down on the bed she lets her head fall on the pillow as she pulls the bandanna from her pocket. Holding it to her face more tears fall. Maybe that was the best way to express herself, was though her tears, showing the sadness that washed over her. Turning to her side and curling up into a ball Karla just let the tears come till she couldnt cry anymore.

Looking at her Uncle Bree gives a nod and than movies into the room with Hope. JT had told her all about who Hope was why she was here. Bree trusted her because her Uncle it was ok but she still felt a little leery.

Hope gives a friendly smile at Bree and a nod to JT. She'd be as gentil as she could and nice on top of it. She new Bree was in a fragel state and she had to tread lightly.

"Hi Bree. How about you tell me what happend from the top ok?"

Looking up at JT as he comes Amanda gives a smile. She new JT was worried and he couldn't blame him. Things were pretty crazy right now and everyone was stressed out.

"Hope seems like she is pretty good at what she does. I was talking to her a little bit earlier and I gave her the pictures you took of Bree. Rosetta let me print them out on her computer."

As JT sits down Amanda gives his leg a gentile pat as she slips her hand into his to give it a friendly squeeze showing she cared and was there for him.

"God will see ya through ya? He will keep us all safe, and everything in his time will work out. We just need to keep our eyes to the sky and look out for each other."

Sitting next to her brother Ryan is quiet as she focus on the stage. The music was different then she expected and like her brother her own hand was tapping the arm of the chair in beat with the music. Watching as the dancers moved Ryan could feel a little envy for how fast and on beat they were. Moving with the music and each other it truly must have taken a long time to learn.

As the scene comes to an end Ryan finds herself claping loudly and giving a sharp whistle. She actully liked this now if only Leo.....

"What the.."

Ryan's own thoughts trail off as her words show her surprise. She could tell her mouth was hanging open but she didnt know what else to do. It was like someone standing in shock all she could do was stair. There was no mistake that was Leo up there. Her Leo...he was....dancing? He was graceful? Leo could....dance?

Finally being able to turn her head she looks at her brother and than back at the stage her mouth finally turning into a small grin. The shock was still there, but it seemed to sink in just a little how silly she had been to think he would of done her wrong.

"That...He...I...Wow."

Dance

Kip sees the look in Karla's eyes and has trouble interpreting it. For a moment, he wonders if he'd done something wrong and his mind races on how to fix it. He glances to Twila and gives a slight shake of his head before taking Karla's hand. "Come on," he directs. "Let's go to your room."

Without saying anything to the others, he guides Karla past and down the hall to the stairway to take her up to the empty room, just as elegantly decorated as the others with everything ready for a guest, along with its own bathroom as well.

Kip shows her into the room, then backs off, wondering if maybe he'd overstepped his bounds or something. "You can... settle in here if you want. Um... I'll go out and talk to the others and find out whats going on with the band. Don't worry about working today."

Turning to the door, he glances over his shoulder. "You know where to find someone if you need anything."

"Okay, good." JT smiles and holds out his hand to Bree. "Hope is in the other room."

He leads her through the dining area and to the adjoining living room. Seeing Hope, he nods. "Bree's ready for ya." He motions his niece to the couch. "I'll be out here if you need anything, alright?" Giving her shoulder a pat, he leaves her with Hope.

Wandering back, he finds Amanda at one of the tables, so he takes up a chair across from her, sinking down wearily. "Well... if Bree makes it through this session, we're one step closer. I don't care what happens to me - I just want her safe."

Eli isn't too keen on staying, but for Ryan's sake he nods. "Alright." Getting situated in the front row, he looks up to the stage, looking around at some of the props that were in sight. It was a small production - one that was for the city, not Broadway. But even so, it looked so far like people had put some really hard work into it. And Broadway or not, it was local knowledge that there was a lot of talent buried in town. Eli just hoped that this was worth coming.

Glancing to his sister, he gives her a once-over for the first time tonight. "Hey... I think I forgot to mention you look beautiful tonight."

It's not too much later that the lights begin to dim. The place was packed - probably a good majority of the people knew someone in the play. Most had gotten dressed up for the event, just a city production or not. Eli wouldn't admit it aloud, but this atmosphere wasn't so bad.

Soon it's totally dark and a hush falls over the crowd. A deep narrator's voice begins to tell the tale of two young people. It was Christmastime and there were two sides to the story as there always are. The family differences made for a taste of Romeo and Juliet, while modern details created a completely different painting.

As the segment of narration ends, one of the curtains is slowly parted. One could just make out dark figures onstage. The music starts out slowly, the figures dressed in black swaying gently. Then the tone shifts completely with flashing lights, fog and a techno-style beat.

The dancers pick up the quick pace, moving in time with the rhythm and lights. All were male dancers at this point in black dress pants and black collared shirts tucked in and casually rolled up to their elbows. The theme was competition for the young woman and two dancers take the spotlight, dueling back and forth with dance moves. All had black hats on, half hiding their faces.

Eli finds himself tapping his foot to the music, not having expected this kind of thing at all. He had envisioned a quickstep at the most, but not jazz, and the music wasn't half bad either.

The group of dancers get back together again, using each other as springboards for backflips. They move closer to the edge of the stage as the song builds to the end. All are spinning and moving so quickly, it's almost hard to keep track of them.

Just as the song ends, they drop to their knees and bow their heads, hands on hats as the lights go off and it is utter silence. The crowd starts to clap and the dancers begin to retreat, but not before one close to the middle looks up and intentionally catches Ryan's eye. Leo throws her a wink.

Disapointment

Looking up at her Uncle Bree gives a tiny nod. Today had been an ok day so far. She still didn't feel like being around anyone but she had spent most of her morning looking out the window and watching people move around, seeing some kids playing in the yard her heart yurned to be out there but she just....didn't have the ambition to do so.

"Ok yeah, I'll talk to her now."

She didnt know if talking to Hope would do any good or not with how she was feeling but if it would help her Uncle, Gunner and herself just a little than is was worth talking to her.

Walking into the auditorium arms linked with her brother Ryan felt so strange. It wasn't every day let alone at all she wore a dress, with a little makeup and her hair done up on top of her head. Looking around and finding the seats a wave of disappointment, confusion, and a strange pang to her heart comes over her.

"This has to be wrong Eli Leo wouldn't do that!"

Ryan scans the seats again but those two were the only ones together that were open at this point. Why would Leo do this? It was so strange and out of character even for him.

"Come on lets sit down anyways since we are here. Pops would be rolling over in his grave if he new about me in a dress let not wast it ok? Maybe Leo will still come."

Ryan tried to look hopeful and hide the tears that were behind her eyes. If Eli saw her cry he'd freak and Leo just might end up dead.

Entering the house with Kip once again Karla gives a little jump as Twila comes up to them. Scuffing her foot on the ground Karla does not ook up. Now that she new Twila new, that ment so did everyone else and it made her feel that much stranger.

Karla couldn't help a little bit of anger that came over her. Not at Twila but just everything and she didn't know how to express it. She didn't mind Kip's comfort but everyone else was making her feel awkward. She didnt want to go shopping, she didn't want people buying her stuff.

Turning to Kip Karla looks up at him she didnt mean for an anger and pain flicker in her eyes it was just all her emotions and stress coming out.

Setup

Jade giggles as she's left on the straw and she sits on her hands, still watching Dan work. "I'll probably take the bus, so you can take me to the station if you want... I'd like that."

Staying with Dan a while longer, she eventually knows she needs to do some work herself, so she wanders back to the main buildings to see what she could do. She would come back to the barn for the evening chores when she could help out again. Being with Dan made the barn work totally worth it. But she had to wonder... once her father was back, would that change?

Kip keeps his arm around Karla, helping her step back through the debris and walk towards the car. He doesn't say much - there wasn't much he really could say. He felt badly though and just wished he could fix everything.

More than just sifting through rubble needed to be done though, so it's several hours before they can finally get a bite to eat then head back to the house. By the time they get back, the others have been to Theo's and back again as well.

Seeing the two enter the house, Twila is there and immediately comes over. "Oh, Karla... Erik told us what happened." She gives Karla a gentle hug. "Anything you need, you just say so, okay? When you're ready, we're going to do some shopping so you've got some clothes and anything else you need."

"Oooh, Ryan in a dress," Ron teases. He holds up his hands, pretending to use a camera to take a picture. "Don't give the guys a heart attack now."

Getting back to work, the subject of Leo is dropped. Minds focused on engines instead and the day progressed quickly. In a matter of hours, the guys were wrapping things up and heading out, leaving the garage for another day.

It wasn't too much later after the sun had set that Eli had Ryan's arm linked through his on their way into the auditorium. Though having put up a fuss, he'd relented to dressing a little nicer tonight - still in jeans, but they were black, and a light blue collared shirt was tucked in  under a black blazer. His hair was a little unkempt, but it usually was at that length.

Wandering down one of the aisles, Eli scans the crowd, coming to the front row. Others had already filled up the other seats, leaving two. Eli looks down at Ryan with an annoyed look. "Two seats... your boyfriend got two seats. You do realize that this means he set us up, right?"

"Hey, Bree?" JT sits on the edge of the bed, giving his niece's arm a pat. It had been a slow day, but stress still hung in the air. "You feeling up to talking to Hope? The sooner she can write an evaluation, the sooner we can start winning this thing. What do you say?"

Dress

Dan gives a little laugh as he pulls Jade into his lap just letting her nuzzle into him. He loved having her close to him, felling her warmth just wash over him and full him to the brim with happiness.

Giving a small chuckle at her comment Dan keeps his head leaned into hers giving a small shake of his own with his arms still tightly wrapped around her.

"Ha, I think your confused and its the other way around. Your amazing Jade you deserve all the good things that come your way in life."

Tightening his arms one more time Dan gives Jade a hug and another kiss to the top of her head before letting her slide back down to the hay. He hated to let her go but he did have more work that needed to be done.

Going back over to his shovel Dan picks it up going back to work, but stopping and throwing a wink at Jade her grins.

"Just let me know what day your leaving. We can do our little thing before, and than I will even drive you to the airport if thats the way you gonna be going."

Just leaning into Kip for a long moment Karla holds the bandanna letting her tears fall slowly. She was morning the lose of someone dear even if he was just a dog. She had had Rin since he was a puppy and had been through everything with her. Whenever she needed someone he was always there. Even in this act he had saved her life giving his own

Swipping the tears from her eyes Karla sands up letting out a long sigh and still leaning into Kip a little bit. Taking the bandanna and pushing it into her pocket she looks around the area once again.

"Yeah we can go now. There is not much left. Everything I was looking for is gone."

Karla wraps her one free arm around Kip as they walk just soaking up the comfort he offered. She just needed that right now and was happy Kip was willing to offer it.

Letting out a sigh as she fiddled with the stuff on the workbench Ryan was about to reply to Miles when Darrel calls her. Looking up she found it off he called on the work phone and not her cell.

Rolling backwards just a little bit she picks up the phone on the wall. Covering the mouth peace and holding it down just a little ways she yells.

"I got it Darrel, thanks."

Waiting for help to hang up Ryan puts the phone up to her ear. Listing to her brother on the other end her facel expression changes and saddens just a little. She hated the feeling of disapointment and wonder if Leo was going to be there or not. Next time she saw him she was going to HAVE to ask. It was starting to bother her to much not to ask.

"Don't worry bro, if he stands us up you wont have to kill him. I will. I'll be leaving the shop soon than I will be home"

Hanging up the phone Ryan puts her head in her hands for a moment letting out another long sigh before standing up. Composing herself she looks around the shop and gives a small smile.

"I better get going so I can get ready for tonight. I'm actually going to put a dress on. Go figure. I'll see ya guys tomorrow."

Compassion

Jade automatically leans into Dan as he puts his arm around her, a small grin on her face. She'd never say no to his warm comfort.

Craning her neck to look up at him, she gives his lips a little kiss. "I'd like that."

Nuzzling into him a little more, she wraps her arms around him. "I don't deserve a boyfriend like you, ya know that? You're too sweet."

"Hey... yo... Sparky, you alright?" Jim waves a hand in front of his brother's face.

"Hmm?" Sparky snaps to reality, straightening from leaning on his pitchfork. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine."

Jim sighs a little, hearing the irritation in Sparky's tone. "Look... I don't wanna fight, alright?"

"Me neither. I just... I'm sorry about everything, and that we can't agree."

"It's not that we can't agree, we're just worried about you and we care." Jim's shoulders droop a little. "I'm sorry we...I... jumped on you before. I could have handled it differently." He searches Sparky's eyes, knowing why he was on edge. "How serious is it?"

"Don't really know." Sparky shrugs. "Depends on what the doctor says today and... she told me she'd have to have surgery... and that's always risky."

Jim nods and gives Sparky's shoulder a pat. "It'll all work out."

"I know." But that didn't mean Faith would survive. Sparky purses his lips tightly. "You gonna stand in my way?"

"I don't think so." Jim folds his arms and sighs. "Just... promise me you'll be careful."

Sparky runs his hands along his pitchfork. "Do you really think I'm... I'm not?"

Jim shrugs. "Who am I to say? I know I came across with a strong opinion, and maybe my feelings haven't changed. But I hope you prove me wrong. You deserve to be happy."

Sparky watches as his brother walks away, then takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. Maybe the tension with his siblings would eventually dissolve. For now though, his mind was as far away as town was from the ranch. He just wanted to know what the doctor said, but he'd have to wait until Faith got back first.

Miles scoots out from under his car, squinting at Ryan's question. "He done you wrong or something?"

"Miles," Jed chides. "None of your beeswax."

"Well she started it!"

Jed smirks and saunters over, cleaning a wrench with an old rag. He glances to Ryan and shrugs. "Yeah, he's been a little odd... odder than normal that is. Darrel doesn't seem to be worried about it though. Which is strange in it self, come to think of it."

"Yeah." Ron hollers from the car he's working on. "If I missed as much work as him lately, Darrel would can my rear."

Jed grins a little and looks back to Ryan. "I don't think it's anything to worry about. I mean... this is Leo. A little strange, but solid enough." He chuckles. "Besides, last I knew, he couldn't get enough of you."

"Yo, Ry!" Darrel yells from the office. "Telephone!"

It was Eli. He'd accidentally dialed the shop instead of Ryan's cell phone, but decided to wait. He could hear Darrel yelling for her, and leans against the car as the gas pump ticks away. Hearing his sister get on the other end, he covers one ear from the passing  traffic. "Hey, Speedy, yeah, um, Leo just called me. Said he had something come up and he'd be late tonight. Apparently he wants us to go in the center auditorium without him and get our seats."

Eli rolls his eyes, annoyance in his tone. "If this is some setup to get me to some foofoo musical while he sits back and laughs, he is so dead."

Kip trails behind Karla, staying out of the way and letting her sift through what she could. Setting his hands on his hip, he sighs, looking around at the devastation. It was a sad sight, even for someone who hadn't lived here.

Glancing over in time to see Karla find the bandanna, Kip's stomach does a flip. Rin had been a beautiful dog that Kip had started to befriend. He liked animals, and knowing that Rin had died in the fire... it made him sadder than he'd like to admit.

Seeing Karla's tears, Kip immediately goes to her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close. "It's okay," he assures. He rocks her a little, rubbing her back. "We can go now if you want."

No one ever said

Starring out the window for a long moment Karla just looks to where her apartment once stood. She'd herd Kip buy didn't reply. Even though her apartment hadnt been busy, and she often hated it herself it still had been home.

Finally figuring it was now or never Karla looked over to Kip giving a nod and getting out. Slowly making her way twords the pile of ash, broken wood and rubble Karla is stoped by a police officer but it let past when she told him who her and Kip were.

Letting out a deep sigh she starts to look. The time seemed to slip by but to Karla it couldn't go fast enough. It was hard seeing that all her stuff had gone up in smoke. Finding a badly burned Nintendo it had been her entertainment for a long time, even if recently she hadn't used it much. Books particle burned. Her bed, cloths there was really nothing left.

Turning to leave this mess behind and what she life something caught her eyes. Bending down and moving some chard wood a red hanker chef was revealed that had not been burned at all. That was odd, everything else had been burned pretty badly but this only had a few dirty marks on it. Maybe it was meant to make it to keep the memories of her friend alive. Looking up at Kip Karla could feel the hot tears roll down her cheek slowly.

Setting her keys down and flopping in one of the chairs at Mile's work bench Ryan lets out a long sigh. Leo had been so distine the last few days it felt so strange and as much as Ryan tryed to ignore it she couldn't. Maybe it was just her but it felt like something was totally off.

"Have you guys noticed anything strange going on with Leo other than not coming into work sometimes?"

Ryan hated doubting Leo but it just happened anyways. Tonight they were going to be going out the three of them but...Ryan didt know if he would cancel that too.

Continuing his work Dan listened to Jade talk. He could tell something was wrong from the moment she came into the barn and though he was a little on the busy side today never would he turn her away. As long as she didnt mind him work and listing than he had no problem.

Though stopping for a moment and looking over at Jade. He could see the disappointment in her eyes that she really did want to spend Christmas with him, and he wanted to spend it with her, but family should always be first.

Setting the shovel down Dan gives over to the bales of hay and hops up next to Jade. Putting her arm gentily around her shoulders he gives her a squeeze letting her lean into him.

"I know you don't want to go, but its nice that you will anyways. Things might not have always been great but she's the only one you have."

Leaning his head down on hers for a moment Dan gives the top a small kiss. Than pulling away a little he cocks hia head to tilt her chin up to look at him. Giving a soft smile he just searchs her eyes for a long moment.

"Maybe the day before you leave we can have our own Christmas celebration. No one ever said it actully had to be on that day."

Spending Christmas

Kip offers the best smile he can and reaches over to take back Karla's hand. "I'm sorry if it's intimidating," he apologizes quietly. "But you can quit saying thank you... it's just... what we do here. I got helped out once and... I guess I wanna do the same. So... at least until you're back on your feet... this is home."

Giving her fingers a little squeeze, he retreats to finish his breakfast. It didn't take too long until plates were cleared off the table and Kip had grabbed his wallet and keys. He leads the way out to his car and waits for Karla, then slowly makes his way towards the burned apartment building.

Arriving, the black pile of rubble is still smoldering. There were other vehicles there, and a few other people were there sifting through what they could, looking for any pieces of belongings that might have survived.

Kip pulls up to the curb and just waits for several moments. "I'm right here," he assures. "Whenever you're ready."

David thinks, his eyes squinting a little as he processes Angelica's idea. "That might be good. Do we know who the judge is yet? I mean, I don't know if we could get anyone to changes judges just on what they might consider to be a whim. But... if we were to get a few cases tossed in this judge's direction, they might be glad to get rid of one or two."

He grins a little at the thought. "Thing is... I can think of the most honest judge ever and they're still not gonna want to let Gunner off the hook. Or even JT for that matter - we haven't even touched on him. Gunner might lie that he forced JT to help him, but I know JT won't lie. So we got two people we need to cover. And really the only thing I can think of is making the judge see how awful a place Crescentview is - or at least with one patient, so it warrants a break-in."

Sighing, David starts looking through his papers again. "It's gonna take a while. First step is proving Bree was hurt. Soon as you hear from that counselor we get the ball rolling. And I'll work into the night..." He focuses on data, though his teasing tone reappears. "...while you go out and have dinner."

"Hey, it's Ryan!" Jed grins from the other side of the garage as she comes in. "If you're lookin' for Leo, he's not here."

A grumble comes from under another car. It was Miles. "Called in again. Eli was in here fifteen minutes ago looking for him too."

"So... Mom wants me to spend Christmas Eve and Day with her and Ben." Jade couldn't hide the disappointment in her eyes. Her legs dangle off the edge of the low stack of straw bales as she watches Dan work. "She wants to give me stuff for Dylan too for when he comes here so..." She shrugs. "I guess I should go. Since Dad's not gonna be around here anyway."

Sighing, she picks at a piece of straw. "I guess I was looking forward to spending Christmas here... But I don't want to leave Mom out. I just... I don't know. I guess I wanted to spend it with you, too."

1/23/10

Judge

Hearing the noise Ryan stops and turns looking back at the room. Contemplating on turning around and going back. Every fiber wanted to go back, make sure he was ok, stay talk with him.

Letting out a heavy sigh though she reminds herself what would he learn if she came running back other than throw a fit get your way. No...she had to leave him for now. Maybe tomorrow she would be back.

Giving a nod to Trooper Ryan continues forward with the dog. Dropping him off at Jason's office she offers him the rest of the food in the bag. Losing her own appetite she didn't want the food to go to wast.

Finally heading out Ryan gets into her car and decides to head over to the shop. It was her day off today but maybe Leo was around so they could take his break together.

Leaning back in her chair Angelica thinks for a long moment. putting both hands behind her head for a long moment she looks over twords the wall just stairing and thinking. Trying to work words, actions, and pictures in the court room in her own head.

"Mmmmm...that could work. But what if Bree's parents have the claws into the judge already? If thats true than sympathy wouldn't work. It is worth a shot thought."

Thinking again for a long moment Angelica finally sits back up in her chair and than stands. Pacing the floor of her office she just walks back and forth back and forth something she always did when thinking hard. Stopping abruptly she looks to David.

"Do you think there is a way we could get a judge in that Bree's parents wouldn't even know about. Post our doubt, not state facts just we have a reason to believe that something isnt right. We can tell them that they dont even have to use US who the judge is but that we would like a new one. That really could give us the upper hand to make this whole thing fair."

Taking a small sip of her OJ Karla looks up at Kip. Seeing his one hand on the table she scooted her own hand over to it and slipped her fingers on top of his own. Just looking at there hands for a long moment Karla lets out a small breath before moving her hand.

"I know you mean good Kip and I am honored. I've just never had it so good ya know? And that dosnt have anything to do with anything but its...kind of intimidating."

Karla pokes at her eggs for a long moment. She new she would be safe here, and Kip was her friend. It was obvious that he cared. It felt different, she never had that before. It made her feel warm, and good inside.

"I'll stay as long as Erik's mom says its ok and if I can still work here to earn my keep...and...Thank you."

Karla looks down at her eggs again picking at the tomato. Her cheeks a soft red color.

Temper temper

Alec's stubbornness and pride forces him to simply sit and watch as his one chance at a different meal went to the dog. He really couldn't believe that Ryan had actually gone through with it. The dog, of all things. He knew he had reason to hate the stupid brute. But he only had himself to blame for this one. She'd been ready to stay and let him have the food, but he'd had to play the tough guy.

Scowling at the wall, he doesn't say another word to Ryan. Once he knows she's left, he gets to his feet to find his runaway tennis ball. Clutching it in his hand though, his anger gets the best of him. Yelling a curse at nothing, he whirls around and gives the metal chair a swift kick. It crashes into the corner, breaking nothing but making an awful ruckus.

Seething, Alec leaves it in a heap and flops back down on the cot to stare up at the ceiling and count the tiles.

"Oooh, temper, temper." Hal swivels in his chair as he watches the security monitors. Taking a bite of his apple, he contemplates a moment before jotting down a note for Reese. Alec hadn't displayed any strong emotions in quite a while, lapsing into a quiet, stubborn state. Hal didn't know what the young woman had said, but whatever happened sure had set Alec off. It was an interesting circumstance to take note of.

Trooper is still smacking his lips as he follows behind Ryan, but stops and turns his head at the yell and banging in Alec's room. Seeing no one appear though, he keeps on course and starts ahead again, looking to Ryan as if asking if she were still coming.

"Hmmm..." David makes a note and looks to Angelica thoughtfully. "That might be one route. From what JT has told me about Gunner though, you might have a hard time getting him to take that stance. He sounds more like the type to say, 'stick the rules, you're wrong, I'm right,
without letting emotional pain get in the way. However..."

He thinks a moment, chewing on the end of his pen. "...he did do it for love, no? What about playing on the judge's sympathy? I mean, who hasn't been in love? Who doesn't know the feeling of willingness to do anything just for the sake of that love? Gunner stormed the castle for the love of his life... it doesn't get much more romantic than that. A tortured man, seeing the woman of his dreams being abused in a mental hospital... Who wouldn't go after her?"

Kip bites his lip, wondering if maybe he'd come on too strongly. He didn't want Karla to feel uneasy about being here. But he knew all too well the feeling of not wanting to accept an offer like this. He'd been there.

"I won't... force you to stay, Karla. I won't even try to convince you. I just..."

He stirs his eggs, picking out a green pepper to stab with his fork. "...want you to be taken care of, that's all."

His Way

Shaking her head at Alec Ryan wouldn't give in nor let Alec bother her. She grew up with two older brothers and her dad most of her life. If there was a game she played it and learned fast through them not to give in.

"Nope it wasnt a wast. I got my card back."

Turning from Alec Ryan takes a few steps twords the door before stopping. Reaching into the bag Ryan pulls out one of the burgers and unwraps it. Taking a bit she holds to rest out to Trooper and smile at the dog.

"Can't let this go to wast here ya go boy."

Tossing the burger twords Trooper it was one swift gulp and it was gone. Laughing at the dog Ryan giving a laugh.

"I guess he was hungry shesh did you even taste that dog?"

Continuing her rout to the door Ryan gives Trooper a pat on the head as she pass. Glancing over her shoulder to look at Alec. She did feel sorry for him, seeing out stubborn and cold he was, but what would he ever learn if people always gave into him and played his game.
