HAHAHA..:x

Sitting at his desk Dalton pulls up another text message file he had gotten from Sprint on Bree's parents phone. He'd hit the jackpot with this one and new it would come in handy. Totally lost in though Dalton gives a jump as the office door slams open and than shut again. Not having expected Scott back so soon. Snapping his head up his eyes filled with question from the look on his friends face. Something defiantly was not right.

About to say something Dalton stops again as Scott gets up one more time and leaves the room. Looking around fast Dalton takes note that his jacket was still there so it was obvious that he wasn't leaving again. Maybe he went to the bathroom or to grab a file. Dalton didnt like the feeling he had in his gut but waited.

As the minutes ticked by Dalton couldn't help but keep looking at the clock taking note that Scott was gone. Finally standing from his desk Dalton exits and looks up and down the hall. Listing closly for a moment Dalton thinks he might of heard something but it came from down below...from the....

...Who ever said big guys couldn't run were wrong, Dalton had opted to take the stairs and not the elevator it was quicker. Now coming to the room where the light was on Dalton caught his breath as he looked in and watch Scott for only a moment. Seeing his knuckles turn read, and that there was pain etched on his face Dalton hoped Scott would stop but seeing he wasn't Dalton couldn't stand there any longer. Opening the door and stepping in Dalton closed it again behind him.

"Scott..."

No answer Dalton let his voice boom a little more.

"Scott....Scott.."

Still no answer Dalton stepped up to his small friend and put a hand on his shoulder in case he hasnt heard him to let them know he was there.

"Scott...thats enough."

Still nothing but seeing the glazed look in Scott's eyes Dalton could tell he was in a different zone. Not being quick enough as his heart ached a strong blow came to the side of Dalton's face, and than again to his jaw. Stumbling back a little bit Dalton gave a shake of his head before looking up again, this time blocking Scott's punch. Dalton didnt want to hurt him so he was as gentil as he could be, wrapping his strong arms around Scott and holding his arms down.

"Scott, stop...Scott."

As Scott fraught his strength Dalton took a few steps backwards but stumbled on his own big feet. Falling he slams into the wall with a crash and slides to the floor his arms still around his friend. Forgetting his own pain that corsed through his side, more than likly a broken rib, and the pain in his face Dalton still held Scott.

"Scott its me...its Dalton...please stop...stop hurting yourself. Come on buddy its me."

Flicking the tears from her eyes Sapphire pulls up to the area where she new Gage was working today. She needed some company, and better yet she just wanted to go but had to make sure Gage was safe.

Turning the car off Sapphire gets out straightening her shirt out and backhand whipping the tears from her eyes. Reaching back into the car Sapphire grabs her sun glasses and slaps them on. Shutting the door she scans the side of the road where the inmates and other juveniles were working before he see Gage.

Taking sight of the only officer there Sapphire makes her line twords him. He was an odd looking fellow, quite fat, gray hair but certainly did fit this position. Taking out her Elite badge Sapphire clears her throat.

"Excuse me Officer..."

Sapphire quints at the name on the badge.

"...Finkleton. My name is Sapphire Johnson I am an office with The Elite, and Gage Pelzer is in my care when he is not here. I need to take my Pelzer with me for some questioning on a recent discovery that has come up. I will be more than happy to sigh anything you need me to, to be able to take him, Or I can let you call my head and talk to him, but I doubt he would be to happy about that."

Sapphire stood talking to the office the sun gleaming off her hair, her arms folded across her chest once her badge was shown to the officer.

Fighting

Having Sapphire push him up against the wall, Scott cringes, flinching at her quick movements. Cornered with nowhere to go, he glares into her eyes, panic bubbling beneath the surface as a flashback tried to worm its way into his mind. But anger remained at the top, controlling any other feelings that raged through his veins.

Sapphire's words stung like daggers, but he doesn't move or try to respond. It didn't matter - she had taken control of the situation and wouldn't let him talk anyway.

Watching her walk away, Scott almost yells after her, but he knows there are other people here too - it wasn't just the two of them, and he didn't want to cause any more of a scene than they already had.

Hot tears well behind his eyes as he fumbles for his billfold, throwing money on the table for a meal hardly touched. Then it was his turn to leave. Getting in his car, he doesn't think twice about going back to TJY. He wouldn't let this thing beat him. He wouldn't. He had a life to live and it wasn't going to come to a screeching halt just because his sister was getting involved with a scumbag like Gage.

Parking and going inside, Scott doesn't even see the other people around him. He makes a beeline for his office, finding Dalton still there - probably never having moved. Scott hadn't been gone all that long.

Taking his jacket off, he throws it in the corner and flops down in his chair a little harder than usual, a scowl on his face. He doesn't even greet his big friend, but stares at his blank computer screen. A tear runs down the side of his cheek as his mind replays Sapphire's actions.

Ignoring Dalton's presence altogether, he gets to his  feet again, this time heading downstairs and to the rec room. Glad no one else was down there, he turns on one corner light just enough to navigate around the equipment. Bumping up against a punching bag, he doesn't hesitate before throwing his fist at it. And it felt good. Not bothering with gloves, Scott throws another punch and another, first a right, then a left, blinded by lack of sight and by a few more tears that clouded his vision.

No one would hear him crying out behind the closed door as sweat started to run down his face. Another swing, and another came until his knuckles were battered and bloodied, but he didn't stop. All his eyes saw were Agency men. He was fighting them.. fighting the room... fighting the torture... fighting himself.

Fire

Sapphire couldn't take it, and maybe she had enough, maybe she was tired of being told what to do and watching those who had no voice of there own get bulled but whatever it was it raged and her brother was the target because of his own words and actions.

Not training with the Elite to be out in the field Sapphire could still move like the rest and observing everyone else around her while they trained she had picked up a thing or two. Before anyone could even blink Sapphire was up and over in the booth next to Scott pushed up against the wall, her eyes blazed red showing she wasn't messing around.

"You bother taking anything up with Gage again, I'll have a restraining order on you so fast it will make you head spin little brother. As for the Agency is concerned you even merer a word to them where Gage is than you have have it on YOUR shoulders that you signed you own sister death warrant because they will have to get through me to get to him."

Sapphire's eyes pierced through Scotts, seeing his own anger so strong it mingled with her own. It was a bad combo and though she loved her brother never ending but she was hurt and felt betrayed that her own brother didn't trust her.

"You wanna break mom's heart for not coming over for Christmas than fine, but I hope you get over it quick and stop being childish for her sake."

Finished with this conversation Sapphire could feel the hot tears burn in her eyes as she exits the booth. Sitting there longer would make things worse and she didnt want to have this display while there were kids around. She said what she needed to, and that was it.

Exiting she doesn't look back but gets into her care letting the engine run for a moment before bulling out of the parking lot the tears streaming from her eyes. Work was not her destination, she didn't want to go back there, not yet.

Bitterness

Scott's folded hands tighten, his knuckles starting to turn white. All the while, he holds a steady gaze, the anger and hate flooding his veins. It wasn't his sister he was so angry with, but Gage himself. Yet at the same time, she was defending him... she was defending a man who had been a part of the place that had ripped Scott's life from him once. How could she take Gage's side like that?

"I'll take up with Gage whatever I want to take up with him," he replies coolly. "If he can't handle it, then he's less of a man than even I thought. You go right on defending him. Date him. Go ahead. But count me out."

Emotions boil in Scott's eyes. He and Sapphire had had some rough years but they'd never really argued. Until now. And this was an argument held at bay only because they were in public.

"You follow him, he'll lead you straight to the Agency. Have it your way. But don't expect me just to stand back and watch. You leave alone what's between him and me - it's none of your business. As far as any social interaction is concerned though, I'll just tell you right now that if he's involved, I'm not going to be there."

Was he talking about Christmas? Social events? Double dates? It didn't matter. Scott was talking about all of it, and his tone made it clear that he was serious. It was him or Gage at this point, and he wasn't backing down. "If he knows what's good for him, he'll leave you alone."

Me, not Him

Seeing the look in Scott's eyes and hearing his words only made Sapphire anger rage on even more. She was hurt, and she couldn't stand what her brother had done. Didn't he remember when he had been roughed up right inside TJY, how many people stood for him when they thought HE was a bad guy.

"I stand for a man who has no voice, because he has no friends yet he wants to change his life. I'm his only friend, and he's the only one I got. I'm not going to back down on this, and I will follow him where he goes because I promised I would protect him and along the way, I saw who he really was. And it isn't what you cant see past."

Moving her chicken away from her and just leaving her drink Sapphire felt so sick to her stomach. Everything had turned so wrong so fast. She had found someone she cared about, Her relationship with her parents were getting better and her Baby brother and herself were getting along. Now...now it was on the brink of breaking all over again. Shifting a little Sapphire moves to the edge of the booth ready to get up, she really had nothing else to say seeing as Scott really wouldn't listen much. Not to mention she was going to snap if she stayed any longer. It wasn't often Sapphire got angry to where she wanted to yell, and she really didnt want to do it now.

"Gage us bit the enemy here Scott. He will continue to be a part of my life, and if you have a problem with that than you can deal with me, not him."

Point

Hearing Sapphire's words, Scott shouldn't have been surprised, but it still sent a lurch through his gut. Thoughts of yesterday came shooting back through his mind.

"I don't care what you think or what you feel, but nothing you do can make me trust you." Scott's eyes had been glaring at Gage, who surprisingly sat cowering in the passenger seat. "I don't care if the Agency is after you, or the law. You drop whatever it is with Sapphire and you do it quick. I can handle the others from the Agency, but they're not the ones trying to date my sister. Being with her only puts her in danger, so if you care at all, you'll walk away. And if you don't... so help me, I'll make you."

Scott's fingers continue to work at his napkin and he stares back at Sapphire, his own gaze growing cold. "If you don't know what I said, then obviously you weren't intended to hear." He tosses the napkin aside and folds his hands. "Apparently you know how I feel though, so I really see no purpose in having this conversation... unless you have a point to all this."

Everyone

Waiting in the booth Sapphire nibbled on a chicken nugget, and a mountain dew sat off the the right side. She really didn't feel hungry or like eating anything but if they were going to meet her she might as well pay them something.

Watching as her brother slides into the booth across from her no smile forms on her face. Her eyes seemed mad of ice, and cracks that were riddled in it as her her had been broken by the one person she trusted enough to help Gage. Looking out the window Sapphire doesn't look at Scott, as for the moment her voice was calm.

"What did you say to him Scott? What did you say that made him so scared that everything we worked on over the last months went up in smoke and why? He was rebuilding his life, he was starting over and turning from his ways. I trusted you, I trusted you Scott, my brother my twin."

Turning to look at her brother in the eyes head on Sapphire gave a shake of her head. She didnt understand why her brother would do this. Was it because of Gage's past? Was it simply because he believe sister could do better?
"Everyone deserves a second chance."

Sinking feeling

Catching the tail end of Sapphire's conversation, Scott feels an odd church in his stomach. Something definitely didn't seem right. After yesterday, he would have assumed Gage would have cut things off with Sapphire, not set up another date. Scott holds his tongue for now though. He'd find out later.

But seeing a strange coldness in his sister's eyes, he wonders if what had happened really had an impact. And now she wanted to do lunch with him?

Scott cocks his head, squinting slightly. "Lunch?" They never went out to lunch. "I'd ask what the occasion is but..." He lets his sentence trail off as an awkwardness settles over him. "Uh, yeah... okay. I don't have any plans other than a nap so... I'll see you at noon."

Tapping the top of the cubicle wall, he heads off, not leaving much more room for conversation. Getting to his office, he bids Dalton a quick good morning, but remains more quiet than normal, downing a can of Mountain Dew as the second half of his breakfast. Focusing on the tasks at hand, Scott doesn't get up from his chair again until he sees the clock reads noon. His stomach had been growling for an hour and he'd been ignoring it, but it looked like he didn't have much of a choice now. He just had this sinking feeling...

"Catch you later, Hulk." He waves to his friend as he leaves the office. "If you hear an explosion..." He pauses then shakes his head. "Never mind. Hold the fort."

It didn't take long to leave TJY in two vehicles and meet up at the little fast food joint. Scott usually ordered a hamburger and shake, but today he postponed ordering for a few minutes. Sliding in the booth across from Sapphire, he fidgets with a napkin.

"So.... what's up?"

Times

Once Scott leaves Dalton gives a shake of his head and lets out a heavy sigh. What could he do? Scott didn't want help now, He'd just about given up again letting the anger drive and control him. Dalton was worried but what could he do?

Grabbing his phone from his desk he hold it for a long moment, just turning it in his hand, over and over again. Would it be smart? If Scott found out would he be upset? Dalton could only reassure himself that if Scott was upset that latter he he could understand Dalton was only worried and trying to protect his little friend. Punching in the numbers on the phone Dalton brings it to his eat and waits till he hears the friendly voice on the other end.

"Hey its Dalton...I need to talk to you about Scott..."

And the moon comes up casting its glow those that wish. The light stretching from one street to the next. Flowing over houses and trees trying to light all the dark. But Night...night is not meant for than and soon the sun will be up to finish the moons job. Chasing the shadows, and creating new ones. Even if some heart had no will for light, it would still come, it would still enter.

Sitting behind her desk Sapphire new she would get Gage's voice mail as he was probably in the shower right now getting ready for his community service. She hadn't wanted to come into work today knowing she would see Scott, at a time like this she wished they didn't work together. But she had to be here, and whatever happen with Scott happened.

"Hey Gage is just me. I wanted to call and wish you a Good Morning before you started your day. I hope it turns into a good one and about 5 I'll see you back at your place so we can go get our hair cuts, and some nice cloths for Christmas...."

Looking up and seeing Scott on the other side of the wall Sapphire's eyes seemed to turn just a little bit cold, yet a flame seemed to flicker. It reason, or destination was masked but it was there. Just seeing her brother brought back the previous night with Gage.

"...I'll see ya at 5. Try and have a good one. Later."

Hanging up the phone Sapphire looks up at her brother again and gives a nod of her head but didn't offer a good morning back. Finally looking back her all the paper work on her desk Sapphire sighs. If she opened her mouth she was scared of what might come out, but she had to. She had to say something, she didn't want to fight here at work.

"Let do lunch today Scott about 12. I have something I need to talk to you about."

Morning

Scott finishes shutting down his computer, not acting like he was listening to Dalton, though he was. He just felt so confused right now, he didn't know what to do or believe.

Grabbing his jacket, he makes it all the way to the door before stopping and turning back around. "I've already been ripped apart. And I'm tired of needing Hope as a counselor. She can't fix what's wrong with me - nobody can. It's like a bad computer virus, 'cept my hard drive can't be wiped clean. I'm stuck with the bad and I gotta figure out how to live with it. If anybody's got a problem with it, they can take it up with the Agency."

Shaking his head a little, he exits the office without saying anymore, slowly heading outside. It was just as well he and Hope had no plans tonight... he still had a headache and it was worse now. He just wanted to go curl up with Domino and go to bed.

The sun waits for no one, not even those wishing it wouldn't yet come. But even after a fun evening and a good night sleep, Gage had to pull himself out of bed for another day of service. He'd had a much better evening with Sapphire than he'd thought he would after what had happened with Scott. Just sitting and talking, then falling asleep through a movie... it was simple but warm and comfortable. And it was something Gage wasn't ready to trade.

"...you do, and you'll regret it."

Gage pulls on his jeans, recalling Scott's cold words to him as they'd sat in the car.

"You drop that relationship with my sister or so help me, I'll call the Agency in on you and they can have you."

Would he? Gage knew that by staying with Sapphire, he was calling Scott's bluff... but was it a bluff? The night before, Gage had soaked up confidence from Sapphire. But this morning, the doubts were back.

On the other side of town, Scott didn't want the sun to come either. He'd had nightmares all night and had gotten maybe an hour's worth of sleep. But Reese was in no mood to accept him calling in. So it was up and to work, faking a smile to anybody he met. He was fine... just fine. He just needed to make it through another day and hope all these feelings went away. He just needed to wait them out.

Making it to TJY, he downs the rest of his coffee before getting out of his car. Yawning, he shakes his head to get out the cobwebs and he heads inside. He needed to finish up what he'd dropped last night when he'd left the office.

Once inside, it's down the elevator and onto the main floor. Taking the short route through cubicles, he greets some of his coworkers, passing by Sapphire's desk as well. Peeking over her cubicle wall, he gives her a little wave like he usually does. His smile was tired, but it was there. "Mornin'."

Exspecting

Letting out a long sigh Dalton sits back in his chair picking up the pen that was laying by some papers he had been writing on. Tapping the pen absentmindly his his hand Dalton's heart ached.

"I know I dont know whats it like completely, but I do know what hate feels like..and seeing people that remind you of something you'd rather keep here."

Only some people would know Dalton was talking about his own past. His parents, the fire, his scares and the way people use to pick on him. It was MUCH different from what Scott was dealing with, but at the same time it was greatly the same. He just wanted his friend to know he wasnt alone.

"Scott, if things don't get better will you talk to Hope? I just, I don't want to see this anger rip you apart. You have to many people that care about you for that to happen....ok?"

Dalton's eyes showed great concern for his friend. He loved him like a little brother he always wanted, and he'd never want anything to happen to him. Friend, partner in crime, they challenged each other minds, Dalton had met someone like himself and taken to him greatly. Losing that, would cut a wound so deep to match the others, and Dalton could do without that, he needed his friend.

Ask Gage returned Sapphire hug, she gave a small soft humm...letting him know she liked it. Feeling wanted, and also taking care of another it was a good feeling only that she enjoyed. They both shared the weight, comforting one another and being there for the other. Sapphire had always felt alone since high school, even when others were around, she just didn't fit. But with Gage, he didn't care she dressed a little different, or the blue streaks she had in her hair sometimes. He saw her for more than just looks.

"My brother, can stick it. If he cant see that I am happy being around you, than he needs to open his eyes a little wider. I love him to death but...."

Sapphire runs her hand thought Gage's unruly hair straightening it out in a few places, her eyes locking with his deep green eyes, endless pools that captured his soul.

"...He can't just go around treating every friend I have he doesn't like."

Sighing a small little sigh as Gage takes her hand Sapphire looks down at there fingers locked together for a long moment before finally looking back up at Gage again. Giving a smile as his questions her eyes twinkle as she gives a nod.

"Yes, you can still come with me on Christmas. My parents are already expecting you, and excited to meet the guy I have been talking about a lot. I'm happy you still want to come with me."

So angry

Gage didn't know if he would ever understand where Sapphire's words and compassion came from. She had told him a lot about God - was that it? Or was it just her, the heart she had and simple care that kept her from sacrificing what she felt was right?

To think that she would take such a risk on him... it was humbling. But it was also a warm feeling that filled Gage like nothing else ever had. He loved spending time with Sapphire, he liked being her friend, he enjoyed having her over, he missed their time together on days they didn't see each other, he always looked forward to some cuddle time in front of the tv with a good movie... she was his only friend. He was on the brink of losing her because of her brother. She wasn't going to let it interfere. Was he?

Drawn into her embrace, his arms slide tighter around her, burying his face in her shoulder, half holding her and half being held. It proved what he felt on the inside - he needed the comfort, yet he also wanted to be strong enough to support her too.

After a few moments, he finally lifts his head, sighing a little. "Your brother won't be happy," he muses quietly. He hadn't intended on telling Sapphire who had started him down a different path, but she'd already figured it out on her own anyway. "He... loves you and doesn't want to see you get hurt. I guess if.... if I had a sister and she was going out with someone like me, I might..."

Drawing Sapphire back so he could see her eyes, he reaches up to comb down the side of her hair. "...I might be upset too."

Gage moves one hand to find hers again, never tiring of locking their fingers. "But... thank you... for believing in me anyway. I'll do my best not to let you down."

He pauses, question flickering in his eyes. "Even if... if Scott is upset, do you think that... I can still come with you to your parents?" He might not have said so, but even though nervous, he'd been looking forward to it - doing something different and meeting more people that Sapphire said he could trust.

Scott chews on the inside of his lip as Dalton talks. He knew in his head what his friend was saying was true. He knew that the people here now like Phinox and Carson... they weren't Agency anymore and they had made a true change. He knew Dalton was right about them. But this anger... this hate... it had started slow and had simmered until it had hit the boiling point. And now he didn't know how to douse the fire.
"All the logic in the world doesn't take away my hate," he mutters. "You don't know what it's like. I know Carson isn't a bad guy anymore but it doesn't matter. When I see him, it all comes back... all the information... everything. All his case files, all the names of people he went after. Everything. Even Jamie. It was all on file before my assimilation."

Lowering the ice pack, he stares at it, not caring that it was numbing his fingers. "Oh, I pretend that I'm fine around him... I call him a friend... and it's true. But it all comes back. I can't help it, Dalton. And as far as my sister is concerned... it's not Carson that's trying to date her. It's Gage - an Agency baby. And I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. I know she's got a mind of her own, but I don't much care."

Scott's tone had become colder... harder. "Thirteen and Ryder is different. Thirteen's clueless about life. Gage is a killer. I'll be hanged if he weasels his way into my family... and I told him as much."

Getting to his feet, he returns the ice pack to the small refrigerator. "It's just not that simple, Dalton." Reaching down, he starts to shut down his computer, even though his work wasn't done. "I'm going home."

Two side, Two people, Two looking for comfort.

Feeling that Gage had returned the kiss Sapphire was happy. It only confirmed what she already new than in no way did Gage himself want to really let her go. She enjoyed every moment spent with Gage, and never did she think twice about his past or what could come. To her, Gage was her friend and maybe even more, his past erased, and starting new now was who he was.

As Gage pulls away Sapphire leans her head into his hand as she study's his eyes. There color, there hope, so much life layed beyond the first layer. His words that formed on his lips, they just sounded so nice. To have someone talk about her like that it really made her feel good inside.

"No matter what anyone says Gage, you bring no shame to me and I am not ashamed of you. What you bring is happiness, and a smile to my face. It makes me feel good knowing I have a key to your apartment, and that I can come and see you. Spending my time with someone else and not alone is a nice gift to give someone."

Sapphire takes one of Gage's hands in her own locking her fingers with his. She had held his hand many times before and every time seemed like a new one.

"Don't ever let go Gage, you have so much to offer to the world, to me. You special, and I love being able to learn new things right along side you."

Sapphire still felt angry twords her brother but her words to Gage seemed to soften as a smile made its way across her face, her eyes softing. She would talk to her brother later, for now she wanted to enjoy her time with Gage. Leaning in to him again she wraps her arms around Gage's neck giving him a hug.

"We'll take on the world together. That way we don't have to face anything alone."

As Scott continues to talk Dalton just eyes him sympathy in them. His arms still on his knees as he leans forward. Scott's anger it was not normal for him, but it was normal for the situation. Dalton couldn't say he didn't blame him ether. The past was the past sure, but it wasnt always that easy to put behind and leave it there.

"I dislike them to Scott. Very much so and the more I am in TJY and the more pain I see they cause the more the feeling grows. But we also have to remember that God gives everyone a second chance. Alec, Carson, Phinox, Gage...God put them in our care for a reason and who are we to judge them. They arnt part of the Agency anymore. Carson and Phinox they turned there life around and though there past will never be gone but they have made amends and are trying."

Dalton lets out a small sigh, it was hard to encourage Scott when he new he'd be the same way. He just wanted to help his friend, and be there for him...he wish he had a power to wave his hand and make everything better, but he didn't. Watching his small friend suffer was something that could bring this Hulk crumbling.

"I am sure a lot of those who get out of the agency all of them feel a part of there life is gone. Something that can never be replace, and knowing the Agency had there hold on you, knowing once you were a part of them...its a hard burden to bear. But Scott its not a burden you have a bear alone, you have me, and Hope. You have so many friends and we are all willing to do what we can as long as you let us. As for Sapphire, she's a strong woman with a good head on her shoulders. I am sure she knows what she is doing, and can care for herself. She wanted to help Gage, it was her chooses just like Ryder is helping Thirteen. She will be thankful for your concern, but just remember she has her own mind too. ok?"

Hate

Though he wanted to, Gage found Sapphire's words almost hard to believe. He saw the righteous anger flash in her eyes, and his heart skips a beat. She really... cared?

Having her sit on his lap, his arms automatically move around her waist. Though having just said that maybe they should slow down, that's not what he really wanted. He didn't want to leave Sapphire at all. She was his only friend, and the only person he cared anything for, more than just a friend. But what if Scott had been right?

Watching her eyes, Gage blinks once, taken aback by her bold and passionate words. Not only did she care, but she was standing up for him... defending him. No one had done that for him before - at least not like this. And she was willing to risk it all? He'd thought she cared, but... but this much?

Before he can even try to respond, her lips have enveloped his own. Though his mind screamed at him to stop right now and be logical and realistic, his heart had other ideas. And it seemed his body was more attached to his heart than his mind.

Returning Sapphire's kiss, Gage's eyes close and his arms tighten around her, closing the gap between them. He was upset over this whole thing, but somehow she had a way of chasing the rainclouds away and making him remember that he had something to be proud of, and that he really was worth something, despite his past.

A deep, long kiss was the only thing Gage could think of to show Sapphire how much her words meant to him. He didn't know what would happen now, but she made him feel wanted, and worth the effort - and that in itself was worth a lifetime of kisses just like this one.

Eventually releasing his hold, Gage draws back slightly, his heart still thumping and his breath shallow. He looks Sapphire in the eye as she still sat on his lap. "I was told to let you go and walk away," he mentions in almost a whisper. "I was told to not shame your name with my past. But you... you're so different... to care, even now, even when you know me better than anyone else."

He lifts a hand to cradle the side of Sapphire's warm face. His thumb runs gently along her cheek. "But I don't know how to say no to the world. It's bigger than I am."

Scott lamely accepts the icepack, placing it on his sore head. Looking at the floor, he takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly in an attempt to calm his nerves. "My mind... that's what's been bothering me. All the bits and pieces that don't belong there... they're just.... there and I can't get rid of them, and they pile up and spew into my thoughts when I don't want them to. I have no control over them."

Just staying on the floor, he leans back against the desk, leaving the Mountain Dew mess for now. "I thought I got rid of the Agency, Dalton. When I finally got over being scared of my own shadow, I thought it was over. But every time I see Phinox or Alec or... or even Carson... it's like, all the data flashes in front of my eyes and for a split second, I'm back with the Agency, hooked up to all their computers and screaming as the data is forced into my mind."

Swallowing hard, Scott just stops for several moments. He hadn't told anyone about this, not even Hope. He didn't like talking about the Agency - one, because it ripped open old scars, and two, because if any authority thought he was out of control, he could still be taken off the Elite as a security risk.

"I hate them...." He'd never said it out loud before, but as he does, the bitter, raw anger is proven. "I hate them, Dalton. I hate what they did to me and I hate everyone who is a part of them. It make me sick, thinking of how many people they've got out there, thriving on the fear of others. I don't want to hate people I know like Phinox or Carson, but I can't help it that every time I see them, it's like their pasts are an open book, read to me whether I want it or not. Their personnel files are in my head and I know their jobs and what they did and my mind just reminds me of it over and over like a broken record."

Removing the ice pack, Scott touches his head gingerly. "And I hate them for what they did to me. They stole a part of my life that I'll never get back, no matter how much braver I am now. So I'm not scared of my own shadow... great... but now a part of them is a part of me and I can't get rid of it."

Glaring at the ice in his hand, it had never done anything to him, but it was better than glaring at his big friend. His tone comes out as frozen as the pack. "And now one of those creeps is going after my sister. And I hate him for it too."

"Nah... not much new." Axel shakes his head as he and Jess start in on their meal. He takes a sip of Pepsi and shrugs. "She said it might be a while yet, but she wants me here until she can see what the surgery is going to do. So far my hand still hurts, so that's a good thing. But Misty reminded me that not only are we working with nerves, but I haven't used my hand in so long, that my muscles will need some therapy to be retrained again too."

Taking a bite of food, he can't help a little sigh. "I know it's God's timing... I just wish He moved a little faster sometimes."

*Gulp*

Listing to Gage once more Sapphire could feel her blood run cold as her heart race picked up, she almost felt a little shaky to and for that she wasn't sure of the anger or betrayal she felt. She new who put this in Gage's head. The only person who he had been with alone today, and the one person he didn't want to take lessons from anymore. She'd deal with her brother late for now, she had to try and rebuild everything that was now broken. She new her voice was upset but not at Gage, at her own blood, her own twin.

"Reminded you your what Gage? A man who has someone that they take interest in? A man who is trying to get his life back? A man who has come so far that to turn back now would be a crime worse than your own past. Your not part of the Agency anymore, and what of them that was once in you is no longer there Gage. Our past does not define us, it molds us, or past isn't who we are. Its our actions now that matter."

Shifting a little Sapphire turns to see Gage a little better. Moving a tiny bit closer to him her eyes seemed to have a fire in them. Anger, passion, love, hate, compassion, comfort...they glowed in the dark, maybe alluring for some, yet dangerous for others.

"My job puts me in danger of the Agency every day. To back away, to leave what my heart desires because The Agency is out there, than I would leave my whole life behind and I am not willing to do that."

Moving on the bed again Sapphire gets to her knees before lifting her one leg and putting it over top of Gage till one was on each side. Her arms sliding behind his neck so she could look at him straight on. Her heart raced and her blood pumped through her veins.

"If the Agency is going to hunt you down, than let them come. I wont back away. You can push me away, and you can try to leave me behind but I will be there every moment Gage. You think the Agency is bad when they find something they want, well I am worse. I wont throw you to the wolves. No matter what my brother or anyone else says. If they don't want to see the side of you I do, than its there loss. Jamie saw it, and so did Con thats proof that I am not alone in my desition."

Leaning closer to Gage Sapphire brings her one hand to the back of Gage's head as the other rests on his chest. Letting her lips brush over his for a moment than drawing away just a little she whispers.

"I am better off with you because to deny what my heart wants is a worse crime than all those of your past."

Bringing her lips to Gage's again Sapphire pressed them firmly to his. Letting the passion she felt wash over her and all she felt just come forth. Retreating for a moment Sapphire turns her head the other way only to return to the kiss once more.

Trouble

Gage refuses to look up, even though he wanted to. He really didn't know what to say. Sapphire could see right through him, and it wasn't fair. He knew that they didn't lie to each other though, and he'd just broken that. But what else was he supposed to say?

Sighing, he mulls over all of the words that were running through his mind. None seemed to fit. He couldn't just tell her what had happened outright. It would only make things worse. He'd done enough damage the way it was.

"I just... I guess I was reminded of who I am." He shrugs lamely. "And... someone like you deserves a friend who's more than someone who has a past like mine. The Agency will hunt for me and... being around you just puts you in danger too and it's not fair."

He pauses, finally brave enough to turn his head and look at Sapphire's eyes. There was something in his own gaze that said he was sorry. That said someone had convinced him that he really should not be friends with her. That he was unworthy. That it wasn't worth the risk.

"You'd be better off... without me hanging around, and it's the truth. I don't want to start any trouble."

Immune

Continuing to watch Gage, Sapphire could see the signs all over. Even in the dark she had the keen eye to read his face, his eyes, every thing that pointed to him not being truthful to her. It was almost like steps were taken in the backwards direction and not forwards.

"Gage, you relize people have been using that excuse for ages? I think I have built and immunity to it. Not to mention we are hardly even moving so if we slow down anymore, its gonna be a complete stop we come to and I certainly don't want that."

Moving to come onto the bed with him Sapphire just sits next to him leaning against the wall. Why had he tried to lie to her? What had happened today to have caused that.

"I can read your eyes even when your not looking at me Gage. We don't lie to each other remember? You be truthful with me, and I be completely truthful with you about anything. So lets try again...What happened today Gage?"

Sapphire's voice was very pashent with Gage, no irritation or disappointment shown through. She had the pashents, she had the understanding and she would wait.

Watching his friend once more Dalton can see the irritation, and it was clear things were not right even when Scott said they were. About to say something more to him Dalton stops as Scott slammed his head on the desk. Cringing a little he could feel the pain himself run through him.

As Scott sinks to the floor Dalton sits forward in the chair and takes the ice pack from the fridge. Something they both used much so figured it was best to have a supply if there own. Stretching his arm out to hand the ice pack to Scott Dalton leans his arms on his legs.

"Whats been bothering you Scott?"

Giving a laugh Jess sits down on the bed with the food a smile on her face. Leaning in she gives Axel a hello kiss before bringing the bag up and taking out two containers Jess puts one in front of each of them, Pepsi for the drink. Helping Axel get comfortable, prayers were said and dinner could start when they were ready.

"Well...actually it wasn't that interesting. I developed a bunch of pictures, helped make up a few Christmas gifts for people and than I sat around all day doing nothing. I guess it was just a slow day."

Opening the Styrofoam container that held the food Jess gives a big whiff as her stomach growled.

"What about you? Did Misty say anything else about your hand today?"

Suspicious reasoning

Gage's eyes flicker, but they're still aimed at the floor. He can feel heat rising up the back of his neck and into his face, hoping that Sapphire couldn't see it in the darkness of the living room.

"No." He pauses to swallow. "I mean..." His hands fidget some more as he recalls the words that were said to him earlier in the day. They had ended with the understanding that he was not to say one word about the conversation.

"No... I just... I got to thinking and..." His own words sting himself. "...and thought maybe we should... you know... slow down a little."

Scott doesn't even react to Dalton's tease about the desk. On a normal day, he would have thought it funny and probably would have had his own comeback. But tonight it felt like his humor had been sucked dry.

"Everything is fine," he replies sharply as he continues to mop up the spilled drink. "Just fine. You'd be agitated too if-" He bites his tongue from finishing that statement.

Lifting up the papertowels, he swivels on his knees to stand up, but with his blind eye to the desk, he had miscalculated the distance. His head whacks the blunt corner of the desk hard enough to make the computer monitors shake.
Howling with frustration, he sinks all the way to the floor, holding the side of his head. A perfect ending to a perfect day. Just sitting still, he tries to stop the throbbing. "No, everything is not fine," he mutters. "I'm losing my mind, Dalton."

Ryder can't help the laugh that erupts at Thirteen's question. Moving to her, he pulls her into a bear hug. "You can hold my hand whenever you want."
He kiss the top of her head and rocks her teasingly. "Let's go warm up leftovers for supper. I have a feeling Katie will be home late."

Though Jade's eyes were closed, her mind was far from sleep. She felt so comfortable here... with Dan. From day one, she'd felt comfortable with him and it hadn't changed. Could she really have these deep feelings for him? Was it more than just a temporary thing? In her heart, the answer was yes. She just felt... differently with him than she'd felt with anyone else. She'd follow him anywhere - it was that simple. Leaving him for only a few hours made her miss him. Thinking of being gone for a week was torture. She never tired of his company. She never tired of his attention or his kisses or feeling his arms around her. Yes... she was in love with him and it was the best feeling ever. She could only hope that he felt the same for her.

A smile comes to her lips. "Don't tell me I can stay here... I might end up falling asleep on you."

Axel laughs, a little color coming to his face as he sets his book aside. "I'm always decent."

Smirking, he sits up straighter, making room for Jess to sit with him on the bed if she wanted. "Mmm... food smells good. I guess I didn't realize how hungry I was."

Situating the pillow under his hand, he draws his legs up to sit Indian-style. "So how was your day? More exciting than mine, I hope."

After

Starting to put a few of the gifts under the tree Sapphire gives a small laugh about her brother knowing about cars. He always was the smart one when it came to that stuff. Sure Sapphire could find her way around with the small things and new how to drive, but if you really wanted to learn everything inside and out, Scott was the right person.

"He always did catch on to things faster than I did. I can drive, change the oil, and tell when something is differnt but it ends there for me. I am sure he will continue to be able to teach you after work. Learning from the best of the best is smart."

Stopping for a moment letting Gage's next sentence sink in. Hearing the tone in his voice Sapphire could tell something just wasn't right. It was almost like his first day with her all over again, he was quiet, and didn't look at her at all.

"Gage, Did something happen today? Just...something doesn't seem right."

Dalton sat at his desk half watching his computer screen and half keeping an eye on Scott. Over the last few week, and than again today he has been noticing something different with him. What it was he wasn't sure but it seemed like he was more on edge and his anger was flaring. That alone was defiantly something not like Scott.

As the thud of the can hits the floor and the slam of the desk Dalton finally turns from the computer full on to see his friend. He really was only doing some extra stuff for Angelica anyways. It could wait for now.

Not saying anything for a moment Dalton just watches him as a little bit of worry hits his eyes. Scott had been doing so well over the last months, and if something was truly wrong Hope would have seen it right? But there defiantly was something that didn't sit well with him.

"You better take it easy on the desk there it has feelings too you know!"
Sitting up a little straighter in his chair Dalton new his humor was flat, but he guessed Scott should be use to that by now. He almost always cracked jokes to his friend trying to work on making them better even though he failed over and over again.

"Everything ok? You seem a little more agitated than normal."

A smile spreads on Thirteen's face again as she looks up at Ryder. Her eyes meet his and a warm feeling runs through her veins. For the first time, Ryder needed her as much as she needed him and it made her feel good. Giving a little nod she would agree.

"Ok, its a deal but..even after the plane ride can we hold hands too?"

As Jade leans into him Dan once again wraps his arms around her. One over her shoulder and the other around her wast. Once more her words that she wanted to say here with him sinking in. Did she really fall for him this fast?

"Mmm...You can use me for a pillow for a while if you like. Your keeping that half of my body warm."

Leaning his head down Dan kiss the top of Jade's head. The smell of her soft perfume filling his nose and tangoing with his senses. Forever was a long time and he has almost had it once. Was he really ready to be saying those words again? Dan new the answer to that question without even asking it.

Making her way through TJY Jess had no problem remembering where the extra bedroom was. She had spent much time there herself and would always remember its placing. Giving a small knock Jess opens the door and pops her head in a smile spread across her face.

"I hope you decent because I got Boston Market and I was way to hungry to go right back out this door again!!"

Different evenings

Gage looks up quickly at Sapphire. Yawning, he feigns having been asleep. He had no other legit reason for not rising when she'd come to the door. "Hi."

Managing to sit up on his mattress, Gage doesn't return Sapphire's light affection but goes straight into responding to her questions. "It went okay. Your brother knows what he's doing when it comes to cars all right."

Looking down, he picks at a loose thread around the hole in his jeans where his bare knee was visible. "I think maybe... our schedules aren't gonna work out too well though so I might try to find someone else to keep going with me until I get my license."

Gage rips loose the thread, snapping it from his jeans. He tries to move on quickly to another subject. "Pizza sounds good. I'm... I'm kinda tired though... so.... I don't know about.... a movie." All the while, his eyes are down, unwilling to look up at Sapphire.

Scott squints at his computer monitor, trying to solve the problem. Reese had called him back from Texas a day earlier than he'd wanted, he was having trouble with the files needed - along with a network problem,  his mother was bugging him about Christmas dinner and who all was gonna be there and what to bring, he wasn't looking forward to the family get-together, it was late, he had a headache and he just wanted to go home. But if he just went home, Reese wouldn't get what he wanted, and he'd be in the doghouse.

An error message pops up for the sixth time. Giving an uncharacteristic growl of frustration, Scott slams his keyboard tray shut and just glares at the screen. Rubbing his throbbing forehead, he tries to block out the images that were flying through his head more rapidly lately. He'd thought he'd be rid of them once his system calmed down and he settled back into life after the Agency. But the last few weeks, it had just been getting worse. He'd always disliked the Agency. But lately it had turned into a pure hatred like nothing else. Every time he saw someone connected with the Agency, that anger flared. Whether it was Alec, Phinox, Gage or Carson, it didn't matter. It was becoming a nightmare all over again.

Turning to retrieve some papers, his arm knocks into his open can of Mountain Dew, sending it onto the floor with a thud and fizz. It was rare that he lost his temper, but this was the last straw. Standing up, he kicks the desk drawer shut and mutter's a word under his breath that he never dared. Grabbing some paper towels from the nearby cabinet, he kneels on the floor, trying to sop up the mess without disturbing Dalton any more than he already had.

Ryder gives Thirteen a gentle smile as he leans back against the washing machine and folds his arms. "It's okay. I don't much like planes myself. But it'll save a lot of time and hassle. Crashes happen... but not nearly as often as car wrecks and the Elite pilot is a good one."

He cocks his head, making sure Thirteen understood that being scared wasn't something to be ashamed of. "You and I will get to sit together," he adds. "You can hold my hand if you let me hold yours."

Jade smiles back at Dan, slight color coming to her cheeks. Leaning her head into his hand, she closes her eyes and sighs deeply, just enjoying this time. "I don't want to leave tomorrow," she admits. "I just want to stay here... with you."

Opening her eyes again, she sets aside some of the wrapping paper so she can move in closer to Dan again. Bringing her legs up on the couch, she curls them under and smooths out her skirt before leaning her head down to rest on Dan's chest with his arm around her. It was weird, thinking that she wouldn't see her brother this Christmas. And she had hoped to spend part of it with her father too, but now that wasn't even going to happen. She wondered if the McClain's would have a celebration of their own for people staying there.

Nuzzling in a little more, Jade wraps her arm around Dan's waist. "Can you be my pillow?" she teases. "You're awfully comfortable."

Axel sits up on the spare bed, one knee close to his chest to balance the book he was reading. His left hand held open the pages as he read the words, passing the time in the evening. Misty had been keeping an eye on him the last couple days, but until they knew for sure the diagnosis of his hand, he would remain here.

So far, his hand was still in pain, but it was a good thing that the feeling had lasted this long after the surgery. Still wrapped, his right hand rested on a pillow at his side as he made a conscious effort not to move it around too much. Misty had worked a little with him today to see if he could move any of his fingers, but he hadn't been able to. She'd assured him that it was still too early to tell, so he was trying to remain hopeful.

The quiet of the room didn't bother him much. He enjoyed quietness more than most people. Even so, he still looked forward to Jess' visits. She'd said she had to work late tonight, but would bring supper over afterward, so he was content with reading until she showed up.

2/4/10

Emotions

Watching Ryder closely as he pushes the buttons on the washer and how much soap he put in so maybe one day she could try and surprise him by doing it herself. Last time she trued she shrunk most of the clothing.

Thinking about Ryder's question for a moment. Sometimes it was hard to remember the past and everything that happened with the Agency but if she thought hard enough she could. Finally giving a shake of her head she gives a small smile as a little worry laced her eyes. She'd seen planes before and the looked scary.

"Not that I can remember, but...I've read about plane crashes and stuff, its kind of scary looking."

Thirteen didn't like admitting something still bothered or scared her but it was better letting him know than for her to get upset and just shut down. She new Ryder would never make fun of her for it ether but help her get over her fear.

Seeing the look on Jade's face as she opened her gift Dan's eyes sparkled and the smile on his face grew even bigger. It felt good to know Jade liked the gift he had given her, and it made him feel good, that she felt good.

Helping her put the bracelet on Dan thought she looked amazing. The glitter of the bracelet casting little colors on her face and making her eyes stand out even more.

"Your very welcome. I am happy you like them."

Now being his turn to open his gift Dan takes the package gently. Removing the gloves and the belt Dan's eyes light up. Seeing his named engraved on the belt his fingers  run over it. That in itself was so special to him, certinly something special that no one else had given him before. Looking back in the bag and pulling out the CD and Book Dan chuckles and smile.

"I didnt think you would have remembered I wanted these."

Placing the book and CD back in the bag Dan holds the gloves and belt again for a long moment. These items had Jade's love in them, they meant the world to him. Looking up at her his eyes glisten.

"Thank you Jade so much. I love them."

Reaching out Dan push a peace of hair that had fallen out of place behind her head as his fingers linger there her thumb gently running over her ear.

"You mean the world to me Jade, and this will hold a special meaning to me. When ever I look at them I can think of you now."

Giving a knock on the door Sapphire waits for a moment before putting her key in the lock. Even though she had a key she still knocked once just to let Gage know someone was entering.

Entering the dark apartment Sapphire shuts the door behind her a few bags in hand. Some with food to make for tonight, and a movie. The other bag help some wrapped gifts to put under Gage's tree.

"Gage, are you home yet?"

It had been a pretty busy day at work, and not talking to Gage all day was rare but it was just to crazy to talk. Now though not hearing anything it made her worry just a little. Going to the kitchen first Sapphire puts the bags down on the counter. Than seeing the tree light on Sapphire makes her way over there. Her eyes scan the room. Seeing Gage on his bed Sapphire goes over to him and smile.

"Hey there, I was worried for a second. I brought over stuff to make some pizza and a few movies for us to watch tonight. How was your driving lesson? Did you learn a lot from that brother of mine?"

Squatting down in front of the mattress to see Gage better she leans in and gives him a gentile kiss on the nose. Taking a closer look and now being eye level with Gage she could see something different in his eyes and it worried her just a little. Something didn't seem right. Sapphire waits to hear how Gage's day went.

One of those days

Ryder grins and shakes his head at Thirteen. "Nope. If we drove it would take us a day, but Jason said we're gonna fly. I guess he lined up an Elite jet."

Taking the basket of clothes, he mixes it in with his own laundry, adding soap and turning on the water. "Have you ever flown before?"

As Jade sees the little boxes, she looks at them curiously. They looked an awful lot like jewelry boxes, but surely he hadn't...

Accepting the first one she opens it carefully to set her eyes on the earrings. Her mouth hangs open just a little and she blinks, realizing how expensive these must have been. Glancing up at Dan, a smile comes to her lips. "Oh Dan... they're beautiful." She looks back down again, fingering the little stones. The earrings were so pretty... and automatically her favorite already.

Moving on to the longer box, when Jade realizes that it's a matching bracelet, her breath leaves her for a moment. Not even sure why, a little tear comes to her eye. Looking up to Dan again such an expression is on her face that one might thing something was wrong. But in reality, she was just so surprised. She'd never received a gift like this before from a man and it felt... special.

Taking the bracelet from the box, Jade is still quiet. Reaching out, she motions for Dan to help her put it on. Once it's on her wrist, she studies it sparkling in the firelight. A smile slowly spreads on her lips and she throws her arms around Dan's neck. "Thank you.... they're so pretty and... and special."

Kissing his cheek, she draws back, still smiling. "I didn't need gifts to make this day any more perfect but I have to admit..." She looks at the jewelry again. "...you have good taste."

Laughing, she rubs noses with him. "Thank you, Dan."

Getting up quickly, she goes behind the couch to bring the bag she'd had wrapped for over a week. She sits back down again, careful to keep track of her earrings and making sure she didn't lose anything.

She hands Dan the bag, hoping that he likes the new leather gloves and the belt with his initials tooled into the leather. She'd also found a music CD she knew he wanted and a handbook with all sorts of horse facts in it.

Gage sits in his dark apartment, the Christmas tree providing the only light. Staring into the dimness, he recalls the day. It had just been one of those days. Community service had not gone well and he'd messed up several times, then had gotten in an argument with the police officer, ending in a harsh warning that made him back off. Once that was over, he'd gone to TJY to find Scott who was back from Texas and who had left a message for him that they could go driving that afternoon. Gage had accepted and had learned a lot, but there had been a whole lot more to those two hours than just driving, and it very well may have changed everything.

Sighing, he leans down on his mattress to curl up on his side. Sapphire would be here soon... at least he thought she would. He'd left only the deadbolt locked so she could get in with her key, but now he didn't even know if she'd show up. Not after what Scott had said to him.

Gift

As Ryder pulls away Thirteen looks up into his eyes. Just seeming to get lost in them Thirteen's lips form a small smile. She saw the glint in his eyes, and could tell she did in fact do a good job giving back to him what he had offered.

Once right is sitting up, and Thirteen is able to move she sits up as well. She would of gladly stayed on the couch but she new she couldn't there was much to do if they were going to leave town soon. Standing and stretching her arms to the sky  Thirteen gives stretch before replying to Ryder.

"Mmmm...yeah I think there might be a few things I could used washed. Let me go gather the stuff up and than I will meet you at the washer."

Heading to her room Thirteen enters and moves around picking up some of the clothing that had been thrown on the floor. She didn't like making a habit of keeping the room a mess, but the last few days she had been working late and had slipped up on putting the clothing in the hamper. Not to mention it was a pain to hang everything up since she didn't have a dresser.

Finally grabbing the last few things and throwing them in the hamper Thirteen walks back across the house and to the backroom where Ryder was waiting at the washer and dryer.

"Ok, here are a few things. Don't need the room stinking up while we are gone. How will we get to Texas? Drive?"

The meal had been great and now heading to the department store Karla felt a little anxious. Not that she was there with Kip, and even the money didn't seem to bother her just the thought of shopping. It wasnt something she did a lot, and it felt a little over whelming.

Starting to look at the racks Karla looks up as Kip takes the scarf. Thinking he was going to ask her if she liked it Karla stepping a little closer. But seeing him put it on her eyes widen a little and twinkle as the laughter comes to her lips again and she shakes her head. Not paying any attachen to the people who were starring as they walked my Karla just continued to laugh gasping for air. Karla could already feel the anxiety start to lift as she laughed.

"Oh Kip, the color matches your eyes nicely. I think you should get it, and where it to the next band meeting."

Spotting the fuzzy hat that match Karla reaches for it and goes to Kip putting it on him than stepping back. Giving a laugh again she nod.

"There now you match."

Keeping his arms around Jade Dan just watches the fire dance in the fireplace reflecting on his day with Jade. Eating, laughing, cuddling...Jade had looked stunning today and Dan couldn't have asked for a better night. Everything had worked out perfect and he could only hope as the night started to wrap up it would continue to work out as he planned. Her words of sitting there with him forever made his lips spread as his heart gave a loud tump.

Giving a small laugh of his own he gives Jade's arms a run and a kiss to her for head as he moves around a little bit forcing Jade to move slightly anyways.

"Well it look like you moved anyways...but...I guess I can go first."

Leaning backwards a little Dan reaches over the arm of the couch and retrieves one small almost ring like box that was done up in red and green tree. Inside sat two small dangling earrings. Diamonds went down and at the bottom sat two very rare turquoise diamonds. Dan was lucky to have found them in one jewelry store after looking several places. The other box was rather long and was done up in shinny blue paper with a silver bow. Inside sat a tiny bracelet that matched the earrings. Diamonds wrapped around, and the rare turquoise diamonds were placed every fourth stop.

Holding them out to Jade he smiles. He hoped she liked them, he hadn't seen her wear jewelry often but what she did wear he had taken note to how dainty they were and thought she deserved something nice to have. Seeing the bracelet and necklace had been to perfect to pass up.

You first

Ryder hadn't started out with the intention of anything more than a nice but brief kiss. As Thirteen returns the passion though, he finds it difficult to ignore the quickening beat of his heart. She hadn't ever given back quite like this before and it sends his pulse racing. Feeling her soft fingertips on the back of his neck and her light touch to his back. It was enough to make any man weak in the knees.

Turning his head as he kisses her, he shifts so even though he still rests on her, he's holding her warmly. A low murmur is intended to let her know that he was enjoying every part of the kiss she was giving him. Though temptation wanted to keep him there and lure him further towards a forbidden line, he knows he's not willing to risk the consequences. No, he would be satisfied with the simplicity he and Thirteen shared.

Eventually pulling back, he stares down into her eyes and a quiet chuckle surfaces. "I better get away while I still can," he teases. "Otherwise, you're liable to make me stay here forever." He knew behind her gaze there lingered questions as to whether or not she responded to his affection in the right way. And all he wanted was for her to know that she couldn't be any more perfect. Giving her a little squeeze, he hopes she knows it.

Finally Ryder sits up, dragging himself from where he could so easily get too comfortable. "Well, if we're heading to Texas tomorrow, I guess I need to do a little bit of laundry. Got anything you want me to throw in there too?"

Kip grins and shrugs. "Somebody's gotta make people laugh. Though I think Kyle could give me a run for my money. And don't let Theo fool you. Twila keeps him in check, but get him alone and he has us all in stitches."
Laughing a little, Kip goes back to his food to actually eat it this time. It felt good to forget about the night before and make someone laugh. It was nice to see Karla smile.

After they're both done eating, they head out again and Kip drives to Walmart. It was surprisingly quiet, and Kip wanders over to the clothing section that now had winter clothes everywhere.

"Oooh!" He spins off to the side and grabs a hot pink scarf to wrap it around his neck, then poses for Karla. "What do you think?"

The day had been perfect. Jade couldn't have asked for more, and she would always remember it. She had had such a good time with Dan, first at breakfast, then shopping. She'd wound up finding a turquoise dress that she loved and couldn't wait to wear to dinner that night. Laughing and talking the day away, she couldn't remember when she'd had so much fun sledding or throwing snowballs. Though the snow was quickly melting, it had provided enough fun for one day. Dinner at the nice restaurant was extra special and Jade had to admit to Dan that she'd never been taken out somewhere like it before. All dressed up, she'd felt good about being by Dan's side, loving the way he'd dressed up too.

Worries about anything else never entered Jade's mind as she just enjoyed the day for all it was worth. And once the sun fell below the horizon, she couldn't believe it was almost over.... almost. But not quite finished yet.

A warm fire in the livingroom fireplace made for a cozy atmosphere and Jade was all too glad that no one else was occupying the room tonight. Just her and Dan once more, this time on the couch to exchange presents and have their little Christmas together.

"You've given me such a wonderful day." Jade smiles, her cheeks rosy from the nearby fire and all the activities of the day. "I wish it could go on forever."

Leaning into Dan in the corner of the couch, she slips her arm around him and sighs with contentment. "Your gifts are behind the couch but I'm too comfortable to get up." She giggles. "So you go first."

Ready

Katie can't help the laugh that comes out after the waiter leaves. It wasn't his fault he had interrupted them, but it always did seem like they had perfect timing knowing right when to bring people to a stop in there train of thought. Giving a laugh Katie just shakes her head.

I love you too J!!

Taking a sip of her water Katie waits a few moments before replying to Jason's question. A large smile slips onto her lips.
"I was born ready. My bags are packed and ready to go. I'll be standing there outside your door. I'd hate to wake you up to say..."

Stopping again Katie realizes she was singing a song and laughs.

"Yes, I am ready."
Shaking her head and still laughing Karla can't even talk for a long moment as her eyes were still watering. That had hit the spot and tickled her just right.

"Mmm...I think you got it all. I don't even know why its so funny, but it is. You must be the one in the group that keeps everyone laughing huh?"

Bringing her hand to her mouth Karla laughs a little more her eyes sparkling and dancing with the humor she felt.  Karla hadnt laughed like this in a long long time. It felt good t do it again.

Feeling Ryder's lips on her Thirteen eases her eyes closed as her heart thumps in her chest. He'd kissed her before, and let it linger but this was different. It felt deeper with more emotion, something that said, not only do I care, but I think I've fallen for you. It was a whole new sensation in itself to Thirteen and by no means did she hate it. Ryder was special to her, and he meant a lot. If anyone could give her this feeling she would want it to me him. The safety she felt in his arms, the warmth she felt wash over her, it was new, but beautiful at the same time.

Returning the kiss Thirteen wasn't sure what to do, but she just let her emotions lead the way hoping she was doing it right, and Ryder would be pleased. Deeping in her own kiss it was soft yet more than normal letting Ryder know she liked it. Bringing her fingers to the back on Ryder's neck Thirteen runs her fingers along where his hair ended and the skin kept going. Her other one finding his back gently running up and down his spine lightly. Continuing the kiss Thirteen didn't want the moment to end.

Love

Feeling Katie's little tug on his warm emotions, Jason's eyes brighten, his smile growing wider. He loved it when she did that. Not only did it make him feel good but he knew it made her feel good too.

I love you, Hero. What would I do without you?

Silent laughter bubbles inside.

Other than suffocate and die a horrible death.

"Can I get you anything else?"

Jason's emotions come to a halt as he glances up at the waiter, almost annoyed, but he remains polite, retreating from Katie's hand. "I think we're good, thanks."

Left alone again, he rolls his eyes. "Killjoy. So you be ready to go by tomorrow after work?"

Ryder closes his eyes as his face is met with Thirteen's soft palm. Hearing she would go, he opens his eyes again, smiling. "I think it'll be fun too. And you already know Katie and Jason and Trent. So including me, you already know four people."

He gives her a wink. "As long as I'm the only bloke that counts, I promise not to get jealous."

Leaning down, he kisses her lips again, but this time lets it linger, deepening the exchange to show he cared and was proud of her. His hand slides up to where his fingers could feel her hair, his other cupping her waist. She deserved to be cared for. She deserved to be loved.

Kip looks up at Karla, his eyes widening, and for a few moments, he's able to keep a straight face as if he has no idea why she's laughing. But seeing her laugh so hard, he can't help the smile that finally breaks free, the bacon slipping from his mouth to fall back onto his plate.

Joining in with the laughter, the goofy glint has returned to his eyes and he picks his teeth with a finger. "Hmm... I think I got it out, what do you think?"

Jade gives Dan's arm a whack as he teases her about her snowy artwork, but she laughs anyway. "Turkey. Either you have bad perception or I'm a terrible artist."

Taking his hand, she lets him help her into the truck, a smile seeming to be permanently stuck on her face. Once Dan has joined her, she  thinks, then shrugs. "I don't really care where we go." She laughs. "Let's just go to town and stop at the first place that looks good. That way it will be a true adventure."
