Alone

"Ha, I'll make you clean it up for...for...well just because."

Giving another laugh at Eli sits up Ryan couldn't help it. Teasing him was sometimes the best part of having him here.

Watching as he curls to the other end of the couch she stands heading into the kitchen to ready some popcorn. Back in only a few short moments the aroma of popcorn follows with the big red bowl in hand.

Sitting close to Eli Ryan hands him the bowl so she can curl up next to him behind where his legs were folded and lean her arm on his hip. She didn't mind curling up with her brother he was rather comfortable and being the youngest that made it her right.

"Ok...did you find something and it better not be all kiss kiss."

Giving a small chuckle at Leo Cassy leans her head against his for a moment and gives him a slight squeeze. She made a good pillow...at least she made a good something.

"Ok lets see what else is on tv than."

Picking up the remote Cassy flips through the channels till finally landing on not a movie but tv land with all the old black and white shows. Snuggling a little father down in the bed herself Cassy props her head up to watch tv. This was nice, just having a friend there, and not being alone.

Nurse

Eli laughs and sits up on his own, opting not to be too much of a pain. "Okay. And yes, you can throw popcorn at me, but you have to clean it up."

Curling up into the corner of the couch, he flips on the television to search for whatever movie it was that he'd seen advertised.

Leo gives Cassy another sleepy grin. "If you get up to get me some soup, I lose my pillow." Yawning again, he slides down just a little further under the blankets, feeling chilled again. "Find a movie on tv and I might stay awake long enough to fall asleep somewhere in the middle. But if I do, stay wherever you want to, okay?"

His hand finds hers to give it a little pat. "You're a good nurse, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. If you stay though, ignore any messes you see. I think I have a lot of them."

warm

Ryan grins again shaking her head at her brother and handing the remote to him. She liked spending time with her brother. Even if sometimes he did get on her nerves it never lasted long, and she never let it linger. She cherished this time with him to much.

"And I get to throw the popcorn at you right?"

Bringing her hand to Eli's hair and gives it a ruffle before leaning down and planting a big kiss on his for head.

"Just find the movie you goober."

Giving a soft smile Cassy continues to look at Leo. Just friends had been a disappointment to her at fist but now, she was happy they at least had that, even if it was a little awkward still, it really was better than not having a friend at all.

"Mmmm..I think I will take up your couch for the night. I think I need a reason to get up though. It's so warm right here."

And it was having half of Leo laying on her send a warmth through her. It was just nice having someone close, someone to talk to, it felt good to just know he was there.

"Would you like some more tea or soup before you pass out for the night? Maybe another movie if you can stay awake."

Comfy

Eli laughs even though he'd just been whacked on the head. "Okay... I promise not to break anything... for now."

Reaching over, he grabs the remote control, leaving his head in Ryan's lap just to see how long it would take for her to throw him off. "How should I know what movie it is? I just know something's on. If it ends up being too cheesy, we can at least pop some popcorn and enjoy it anyway."

Leo closes his eyes and shakes his head. "I don't think you could outstay your welcome even if you tried, Cassy." He pats her arm. "It just isn't in you."

Rubbing his eyes, he yawns again before looking back up at Cassy. "If you don't wanna go, you don't have to. Really. Your company has been nice." It wasn't just him being sick that made him say it. Cassy really had made the day more bearable. He'd never have asked her to come, first because he wouldn't want to put her out, and two, because the whole "just friends" thing was just still a bit awkward at the moment. But she'd come all on her own... she'd fed him, nursed him and kept him company. If she was comfortable here, he wouldn't ask her to leave.

Leo searches her gaze for just a moment. How lonely she must feel. He'd been feeling sorry for his own self after not having Ryan anymore. But Cassy had had even more with Steve, so in a way, her loss had probably been greater. He wouldn't want to go home to an empty apartment either. He knew Steve hadn't lived with her, but he did know they'd spent an awful lot of time together. How quiet her place must seem to her.

"The couch is comfy," he adds. "I mean if... if you really didn't wanna go."

Overstay

Shifting just a little Cassy had been in and out of dozing off herself after the movie had ended. She was so comfortable and she didn't want to wake Leo so continuing to sit there had been the best option.

"Mmm...I'm comfortable so if you don't want to you don't have to, I have no problem with it. I'd rather spend time with my friend than go home to an empty house anyways."

Cocking her head a little to look down into Leo eyes Cassy's sparkle a little. She really was that warm and comfortable. The thought of going out into the cold sounded horrible, but she new maybe she had to.

"I guess I should go though so I don't over stay my welcome huh?"

Ryan gives a smile at her brother, she liked he valued what she thought even if he was the older one. It just simply felt nice that they could ask each other anything and get there honest opinion on it. She'd been with out it for far to long, and it took having Eli back for her to realize how much she had missed it.

About to say something else Ryan stops as her brother jumps onto the couch. Feeling everything shake and the lamp on the table about to topple Ryan's eyes grow bigger than they were before.

Looking down at Eli Ryan's own eyes dance with a little humor to show she wasn't upset with him, but giving him a wack to the top of the head anyways she shakes her head.

"If you think maybe you can not tare the apartment down than yes, I'll watch the movie with you. What one is it anyways?"

Five minutes

Eli listens to Ryan intently. Even if he was older, he respected her opinion, especially when it came to the subject of women. After all, she should know better than he.

He hadn't thought about Scarlet having a past. Maybe that's where her tough-chick attitude came from. Or she could have been born with it too. He sighs once more. Was he determined enough to figure her out rather than just letting the whole thing go?

"Yeah, she's something alright." He grins a little. "Determined, I'll give her that. Does a lot for the ol' ego... And you know I need that." Still grinning, he throws Ryan a wink. "Thanks... gives me some more to think about." He laughs and sits up straighter to finally take off his jacket. "I guess I'll try to figure out what my conclusion is by the time i get her bike done. But for now..."

Standing up, he kicks off his boots and takes a couple steps to the couch before cannonballing himself onto the the cushion next to Ryan. The whole couch shakes and the lamp on the end table rattles and threatens to fall to the floor. Bouncing around, Eli winds up with his legs hanging over the armrest and his head in Ryan's lap, looking up at her and batting his eyes. "There's a movie on in five minutes. Wanna watch it?"

Leo opens his eyes slowly, realizing that the movie he and Cassy had been watching was over... and probably for quite a while. Yawning, he shifts a little, his fever not gone, but having gone down a little bit. Then he feels Cassy still next to him. She'd stayed all this time?

Turning his head that's still resting on her arm, he gives her a sleepy, sheepish grin. "Hi. I suppose I should let you go home now, huh?"

Maybe

Continuing to look at her brother Ryan listens closely. It was odd him saying he didnt have a woman figured out. As far as she could remember he always said he new what this woman wanted, and what that woman wanted...now to see the confusion in his eyes was off it was a bit odd, and a tiny bit humors though she wouldn't tell Eli that.

"Because she probley does need someone to hold her hand because she is lonely."

Ryan rolls on her back looking up at the ceiling not saying anything again for a long second as she just thinks. It was often hard to talk about her own feelings let alone a woman she didnt even know. Everything was just speculation a guess on how she might be feeling.

"The world shapes us into who we are. Every day, every conversation or action we take molds us. And sometimes as we both know life can be...not so nice to us. Maybe she is strong, but I am sure she does not think she has everything figured out. Its possible she has that outside shell to protect herself from something, and she might always have it..."

Putting the pillow down that she was holding again Ryan sits up at the couch pulling her legs up to sit Indian style facing her brother again the pillow in lap now, for some reason she just couldn't sit still.

"...I think she'd have to find you pretty special or trust worthy to show you past the shell. I guess the bigger question is do you have the determination to go beyond the shell and get to see more. She must be something to have you in such deep thought even if there is a warning sign there."

TLC

A little grin appears on Eli's face. Ryan could read him so well, even after their years apart. There were just some things that only siblings shared.

The fact that his expression reminded her of their father sends a little pang to his heart. Would his father be proud of him now? He wondered.

"Mmm... yeah, I'm okay." He chuckles. "I guess that leaves thinking too hard."

Slinking down a little more in his chair, his shoulders slouch and he still hasn't bothered to take off his jacket or boots. His eyes wander to his sister, knowing she wouldn't let him go this easily. Her and her big cute eyes looking back at him, open to hear his explanation of why he'd come in so dismally.

"Remember the other night... when I said I didn't have a date, but I wound up with that girl who wanted a paint job on her bike? Well... we went out again today for lunch when she brought in her bike." Eli shrugs lamely. "I don't know. She's... different."

He gives Ryan a sheepish grin. "Yeah. Me not being able to figure out a woman. I guess it bothers me for some reason. One minute I think she's got no business wanting a man 'cause she's got the world figured out and knows how to get whatever she wants. Bold-headed, gutsy... got a good head on he shoulders. Then the next minute I see a woman who wants some good ol' TLC, almost like she's lonely and wants to hold someone's hand."

Eli sighs and shrugs again. "She wants to date me... steady-like, ya know. I'm just not so sure."

Same look

Holding a shocked look on her face Katie looks between Carson and Jason though her eyes, and her emotions said other wise she played it out anyways.

"Why I never...ornery...ornery...I...You better watch it mister or I'll sick that wife of yours on you."

Finally Katie's lips turn into a smile from the shocked stage as she chuckled. The bantering back and forth was fun and it had been so long. Hearing Jason's order Katie new he was trying to stear away from the topic before they never got there food and she couldn't help but pull on Jason's silly emotions.

Turning her attachen back to him full after Carson walked away Katie gave him a smile letting her warm emotions flow to him and tug on his own. Her eyes twinkled as she looked back across the table at the man she loved so much.

"Because I am more cute, and sweet than ornery, and even in the time when I am you think it makes me look cuter."

Katie gives a laugh her smile still beaming on her face.

Hearing the front door open Ryan wasn't alarmed. It was ether Alec witch he doubted because Rick had yet let him walk on it, or it was her brother. Anyone else would be stupid to enter her house with out her permission.

Finally moving her head away from the tv as Eli comes into the living room sooner than normal Ryan just looks at him for a long moment. He looked tired, but something else looked on his mind and the tone of his voice seemed to match. He always had this cretin expression when he was thinking a little to much about something.

"Hey, well..I worked, talked to Leo yesterday a little and didn't see him today. Darrel said he called in sick. Didn't get a chanse to see Alec because work was swamped and I only got home about ten minutes ago myself. but I called him and he's doing ok, though he is driving rick batty and its kind of funny. Oh and I have a race tomorrow night."

Taking a deep breath Ryan looks away from Eli at the tv for a moment. Though she had just giving him the whole run down and it sounded like a lot she said it all in one breath witch mean all in all it was a pretty boring day.

Turning off the tv and looking back to Eli again she studys his face for a moment. Shifting on the couch so she was laying on her tummy and her chin rested in her hands Ryan just looks at him for a long moment before finally saying anything.

"Alright I know somethings up by the look on your face. Its the same one Pops use to get when something was wrong or he was thinking to hard. Are you ok?"

Ornery

"Chicken parm, okay..." Carson doesn't need to write it down, and waits for Jason's order, though Katie's teasing brings his eyes back to her. A grin sneaks across his lips. "You didn't used to be so mean, you know that?" He looks to Jason. "What are you teaching her?"

"Hey, don't look at me!" Jason holds up his hands. "She's ornery all on her own, trust me."

Carson chuckles. "Why is it the ornery ones we fall for, ay?"

"I have absolutely no idea." Jason knew he better swing this conversation around before it was an all-out teasing war. "But I do know that I want the meatball sub for lunch."

"You got it."

Watching Carson walk away, Jason's gaze drifts back to Katie. "Why did I fall for someone so ornery, hmmm?"

Eli takes off his mask and glasses, surveying his work of sanding before putting things away for the night. He was the last one out of the shop - he'd worked late, not really wanting to go home yet. This kind of work... he could get lost in it. It's where his mind could wander. He could turn up the music, and just let everything go when he had a paint job in front of him. He'd let his craft go at one time, too wrapped up in making money and gambling most of it away. Now though... now he'd renewed his love for the art and wasn't willing to let it go again just yet.

He takes one last look at Scarlet's bike before shutting out the lights and locking the garage doors. He'd be able to start painting it later tomorrow and he already had a pretty good idea of what he wanted to do.

Heading home, Eli takes his time, riding more slowly than normal. His mind wandered through the day's events, including his luncheon with Scarlet. There was something about her that intrigued him and drew him in. She could turn any man's head and had certainly turned his with her looks, those eyes and that smile. Yet at the same time, there was some feeling Eli got when around her - sometimes she almost seemed too bold, then when he looked into her eyes, he saw a timidness that begged him just to hold her. Sometimes she almost intimidated him with her confidence and even her occupation. But at the same time, she was seeking out his attention. Eli couldn't deny the fact that he liked women. But they didn't usually confuse him like this. He just wasn't sure what to do with it.

Arriving back home, he parks and heads inside the apartment. Seeing Ryan in the living room in front of the television, his normal routine would be to kick off his boots, throw his jacket somewhere, grab a beer and join her. Tonight though, he simply wanders into the living room, easing down in the overstuffed chair. Taking off his gloves, he yawns. "Hey, Speedy." His tone wasn't quite as chipper tonight - maybe he was just tired. "What have you been up to all day?"

Lovey Dove

Finally finding a movie they both wanted to watch Cassy moves one of the pillows up a little more on the bed so she could lean on it too. Keeping her arm around Leo with his head on her she felt more than comfortable.

As the move played on she could feel Leo's head droop into her a little more telling her he was comfortable enough to sleep. That was a good thing. Feeling his head was warm once again Cassy didn't want to move to much and wake him so her slid down on the bed a little more herself but not to much her arm still tucked nicely behind Leo. Pulling the blankets up a little more to his chin to keep him warm and break the fever. In a little while she would get up and get another cloth for his head, but for now she just wanted him to rest.

Shaking her head at Carson Katie can't help but laugh. It had become so normal to them she often forgot sometimes other people could tell who new them by there faces if they were talking or not. She found it a little funny sometimes.

"I think I am going to have the chicken parm after all. It is my favorite and I haven't had it in so long."

Straightening a little Katie looks to Carson with a grin on her face. Sometimes picking on him was fun and since it had been so long a little extra was ok.

"And you better stop ease dropping...before I call Misty and get a list on all the lovey dove stuff you do. At least you don't have to listen to us."

Katie sticks out her tong out at Carson playfully before letting out a laugh, giving a pull to some of Jason's funny emotions.

Giving a small laugh Scarlet takes a few steps back as Eli revs his engine. Giving her own wave she shakes her head as he peels out of the driveway obviously showing off. She thought it was kind of funny, but at the same time she thought it was cute, and liked it.

Once Eli was out of sight Scarlet lets out a small sigh and head back into her place figuring out what she would do for the next few days while she waited for her bike to get worked on.

Unfair

Leo manages a little smile as Cassy joins him on the bed. He didn't feel smothered or awkward... not today. He was too busy being sick to worry about giving the wrong impressions or taking things the wrong way. All he wanted was some company and right now, Cassy was all he had. There wasn't anybody else who would sit with him while he was sick.

Nestling down a little further in his blankets, his head rests back against Cassy's arm. She was warm... comforting. He focuses on the television as she searches for a movie and they finally land on one both want to watch.

Despite wanting to stay up to at least enjoy the company though, soon Leo's eyes are growing heavy again. And eventually, he's fallen asleep once more, his hot forehead resting against Cassy's shoulder.

Jason's grip on Katie's hand tightens as his smile widens.

I love you too, Hero... I wouldn't trade my life right now for anything.

At one time, he'd hated it... had felt suffocated and had wanted out. But now... now that he had Katie, he could love her freely, he'd found God and was surrounded by friends... what could be better?

I guess watching each other's back is a perfect trade, huh?

"Alright, enough sweet talk, you two. It's enough to drive the customers away." Carson sets their drinks down, honestly not being able to know for sure if they'd been communicating or not, but the way Jason and Katie were looking at each other, Carson was pretty sure there was talk going on, and he was convinced it wasn't about the menu.

Jason lets go of Katie's hand and looks up at Carson to smirk at him. "You ought not be spying."

"It doesn't take a spy to notice those looks," Carson counters teasingly. He looks to Katie with a grin. "You guys decided what you want yet? For lunch, that is."

Eli smiles, seeing again that little bit of timidness coming through as Scarlet's cheeks redden. He's not about to let her get away with her first comment though. "If the next time is still a first date, I'd never make it back to your lips and that would be way too unfair." His thumb runs over her lips again before his hand slides from her face. How could he ignore the genuine hope that was in her eyes? As strange as it seemed to him, Scarlet wasn't after a one night good time. She really was serious about trying to make something out of this. Was Eli willing?

"Oh... I have a feeling it won't be the last."

Winking, he lets her go and puts on his helmet, leaving the question hanging in the air as to whether there really would be more dates or not. He throws her a salute and straightens his bike, revving the engine before pulling away. Peeling out of the parking lot with a squeal, he speeds down the street, lucky that there were no cops around to see it.

Smothered

Scarlet gives a slight nod the shy look appearing in her eye again. She was bound and determined to say there was at least a first date.

Feeling his hand takes hers and there fingers lock Scarlet looks down for a moment just studying there hands and the way it felt to be firm in his grasp. It felt nice, safe and warm. Looking back up into his eyes Scarlet's smile held on her face though it seemed like her words were lost.

Being pulled back to Eli though Scarlet has no will to try and back away nore did she want to other than the soul fact of indeed calling this a first date. But like an unknown force pulling her she felt like she melted into Eli's arms.

Feeling his cheek brush against her Scarlet could felt the slight scruff and couldn't help but think it felt nice, and a wiff of maybe the soap Eli used in the morning enters her nose it just threw Scarlet into a trance that made her eye automatically close just taking in the moment and the smell.

Than feeling his lips on her neck it almost would seem like she had lost total control as a soft moan slipped from her lips liking the feel of Eli's kiss on her neck, and than close to her ear, Her fingers still linked with Eli's hand tightens just a little as her heart thumps and her breathing picks up just a little.

Once Eli pulls away again and Scarlet can feel his hand on her face her eyes open slightly looking back into his eyes once again. A smile forms on her lips as she bits the one softly her eyes twinkling in the sun light continuing to just hold Eli's hand.

"I guess I finally did. Mmmm...can we say the next one is a first date too so we can have a replay?"

A small chuckle comes from Scarlet's lips as some color comes to her face. Trying to move on quickly feeling a little bit of a fool for saying that.

"Thank you for the ride, and for lunch it was the perfect first date. I do hope it wont be the last."

Yeah, I am sure it is hard on him once and a while. He seems to deal with it ok though maybe its just something he has come to terms with.

Holding Jason's hand and locking fingers, Katie gets an even stronger rush of emotions. They felt so warm, and soft, inviting as they flowed from Jason to herself. Katie loved this bond, and these emotional flows just the heightened feelings felt so nice and to feel Jason's love so close no one else could understand only they could.

Mmmm...talking is one thing but actually getting to see you thats another all together. I am happy we are a team too. Its nice knowing I have someone to watch my back, and that I can watch theirs. I love you so much J, thanks for being by my side.

Coming back into the room once she was finished cleaning the mess in the kitchen Cassy though for should Leo would be sleeping. But drawing closer to the bed and seeing his eyes open and hearing his voice Cassy's lips turn up into a smile.

Leo's request was quiet and simple and way to cute to blow off. Looking down at him and just studying him for a long second he looked so cut cuddle up in his blankets, how could anyone tell him now.

Setting her purse down on the chair that was by the nightstand and slipping her jacket to the floor Cassy gives a shake of her head as she gives a smile.

"The only reason I was leaving so soon is because I didn't want you to feel smothered by me."

Walking over to the tv that sat on Leo's dresser she grabbed the remote before coming over to the bed again. Kicking off her shoes she sits down and swings her legs up before moving close to Leo and putting her arm around his shoulder so they were both snuggled together.

"..But as long as your asking I wouldn't mind staying to watch a movie for you. What are friends for if they can't see us at our worst right?"

Cocking her head a little Cassy looks at Leo's face and gives a smile. She didn't want him to feel uncomfortable and she hoped he didn't. She was doing this as a friend, and had her arm around him like a friend. She new what they talked about and new the lines, nothing more was wanted than just cuddling with her friend and making him feel better.

"Alright shall we see what on the movie channels?"

There

As Scarlet kisses Eli's cheek from behind, his eyebrows rise. He could feel her face against his, her hair soft and blowing in the light breeze. He was surprised enough that he doesn't turn, just a bit curious as to her intentions. When she pulls away, his eyes follow her, looking up as she stands beside him with that smile on her face... and those eyes...

His gaze narrow slightly as his own grin appears. "Think you're pretty smart, don't you, hmm?" His left eyebrow quirks higher than his right one. "Bound and determined to say you were on a date with me or what?"

Reaching to her hand, he takes it in his own so their palms press together and his fingers lock with hers. "I'll let you have it your way... this time."

He pulls her a little closer. "But I have to get my way too."

His other hand reaches up and takes her jacket collar, drawing her back down to his level. His cheek brushes hers as his lips go for her neck, giving her a lingering kiss, then one or two lighter ones up nearer her ear.

Drawing back, his palm moves to her cheek, his thumb running over her lips. "There... looks like you got your first date."

Jason thinks about what Katie's saying and finds that his emotions relay he understands, but there's a bit of compassion... maybe even admiration for Carson. Perhaps that's some of why they were getting along now - because Jason was seeing the good in him, like Katie. Not everyone would give up what they loved in order to accept an honor instead.

Yeah... maybe you're right. Must be kinda tough on some days though. Especially now that his wife is getting in on all the Elite action and he's not.

Jason quirks a grin and slides his hand across the table, taking Katie's palm, so their spiraled scars meet.

I'm glad we get to be a team together. It would be rotten not seeing you all day, even if we could talk.

Leo watches Cassy leave and sighs again, sinking a little further down under the blankets. His pillow was the only place his head felt comfortable. Resting quietly, he drifts in and out of sleep for a while, waking again as Cassy comes back to check on him before leaving.

Looking up at her, he bites his lip, knowing she was ready to go. "You wouldn't... wanna stick around for a movie or something... would you?"

Leo didn't normally feel lonely, but maybe it was just being sick and a tinge miserable that made him not want to be alone today. But as soon as he'd asked Cassy, he realized that she probably hadn't planned on staying so long and he felt just a tiny bit stupid.

"Sorry... you got better stuff to do than keep a sicko company. I'm glad for the soup and visit though."

O.o

Cassy gives a little nod as she watches Leo lay down again. She liked him, maybe more than she should already but they had agreed on being just friends right now and thats where she would keep it for the time being. There was nothing wrong with a friend checking on a friend.

"I am happy you are sick as well than, and don't you worry about me. I'll be ok."

Giving his leg a pat Cassy stands and takes the bowl from him leaving the tea for now so he could drink a little more.

"Your welcome. There is pleany more too so if you want anymore in a bit before I head home I'll warm some more up. I'm going to go wash up these few dishes and than will be back in to check on ya. Try and get some rest."

Wrapping her own arm around Jason's wast as they made there way to there normal table she takes in his words thinking about them for a long moment. She'd seen the look that passed in Carson's eyes as well.

Yeah you can tell he does, but Herb have him this place, only a sliver still belongs to him. Without Carson this place would be forced to close down. Maybe he is content in knowing that even though he does miss it this place is almost really his and someone believe in him enough to turn there dream over to his hands.

Stopping and sliding into the booth Katie looks over to where Carson was just watching him for a long moment. She remembered when she'd first met Carson, and what he did to Jamie. To have her father now trust Carson enough to give him his business that had to bring some kind of feeling to Carson.

I think maybe its a feeling of honor as well to stay here, knowing Herb thought of him as a son after everything that happened. Carson has come a long way and maybe this place is a good reminder to him, and Maybe TJY calls him once in a while is a nice fix on his hunger for action as well. Even if its not as much as he likes.

Letting out a tiny sigh Katie looks back to Jason giving him a smile. Her eyes twinkling as she gazed at his face like she had so many times before.

Sometimes we just gotta take things as they come and roll with it. Even if its not what we planned, or even if we want something more. God doesn't always have that in mind for us. Not yet anyways.

Holding on tight to Eli once again Scarlet relaxes and enjoys the ride showing him where to turn, and what apartment building was hers. The cool air washing over her as she held on to Eli felt nice and Scarlet truly did enjoy it.

Finally getting to her place Scarlet was almost sad the ride was over. Taking her helmet off but staying on the bike for a moment she lets out a low sigh. Not of distress but almost contentment.

"Sounds good. I can find a ride to shop when my bike is ready unless your going to come give me a ride again."

Leaning forward on the bike Scarlet leans over Eli's shoulder bringing her lips to his cheeks pressing them firmly for a moment. Retreating after a few moments Scarlet finally dismounts but doesn't move to far away keeping her hand on his arm and coming around a little to look him in the eyes the grin on her face as her eyes continues to twinkle looking at him, searching his own face.

"There now its a first date, and you got a kiss on the cheek."

Scarlet gives Eli a little wink as her smile grows.

I wonder

Eli's grin twitches at Scarlet's comment, but he can't read her face anymore as it disappears behind her helmet visor. Shaking his head, he dons his own helmet and joins her on the bike, making sure she's holding on before taking off down the street.

Having Scarlet point the way, he rides across town, eventually finding her apartment. Pulling into the lot, he sets the bike on its kickstand but leaves the motor running as he takes off his helmet. "Alrighty... guess you'll be hearing from me when your bike is done."

He shifts his weight forward so she can get off the bike more easily as his eyes scan the nice but not too expensive apartments. Scarlet had told him about her job and the money she made, but it looked like she didn't spend it all - at least not on a place to live.

Carson laughs outright and shakes his head at Katie. "Yeah, we probably would. Nah, Misty would go crazy working here. She needs the Elite to keep her blood pumping."

And there was a part of Carson that needed it too, though he forced himself to be satisfied with just once in a while. A dimmer look passes in his eyes. It was brief, but it was there.

"Alright - you two pick a table and I'll get your drinks."

Jason wanders over to an empty table his arm still over Katie's shoulders.

He misses it, doesn't he? He likes it here... and he's good at it... and people love him running this place... but he really misses the action, doesn't he? I wonder why he stays here.

Leo finishes off the bowl of soup, finding it settled with his stomach quite well. Setting the bowl aside, he looks at the foot of the bed where Cassy sits. His eyes were a bit droopy, his hair matted, and he felt like crap. But part of him did feel a little bit better and he was grateful.

"Thank you... for coming. And... for bringing soup."

He leans his head back and sighs, wishing his head would stop feeling as though it were on fire. "I woulda gone and quit at Baxtor's today... so maybe it's a good thing I got sick. I just don't want you catching it now."

Difficult

Giving a chuckle at Eli some color comes to Scarlet's cheeks, not that she was embarrassed, but maybe it wasn't often a genuine comment like that was told to her without anything more attached. It felt good and warm, Eli's words hard and quick the meaning though seeming so soft.

"I guess thats a difficult choose than, first date or a kiss."

Scarlet stops for a moment bringing a hand to her face tapping her lips for a moment as if thinking very hard. Turning though she continues to walk to the bike under her hand a smile forming.

Finally moving her hand to take her helmet the grin is so easy to see lighting up her face, and her eyes even more almost as if plotting something on the decsition they were just talking about. But not saying anything on it Scarlet puts her helmet on half way before speaking again.

"Hot..mmm...Thank you, and since we are being honest here I guess you are the sexy hunk giving me a lift."

Pushing her helmet down all the way her grin disappears under the mast but her eyes still sparkle through it as she goes over to get onto the bike waiting for Eli to join her. Once he does she wraps her arms around his wast once again holding on tight.

"I don't know that pizza smells pretty good and I haven't had it in a while..but chicken parm sounds good to. This is going to be a tough desition today."

Continuing to contemplate in her head on what to eat Katie listens to Jason and Carson talk. She couldn't help her own little squeal as Carson said it was ok to have the little party there. It sure had been a long time, and taking a trip down memorie lane like this would be fun.

"Psht, like she would mind...coming in that is. You guys are so darn cute together I am surprised she doesn't work here already."

Stoping for a moment Katie thinks about it before back tracking just a little.

"Thank again maybe its a good thing you guys might kill each other."

More hot

Eli chuckles and follows Scarlet outside. "I'll tell you after I've dropped you off home if this has been a date or not. If I kiss you, I'll have to say it wasn't, on account of my first date rule."

Looking down into Scarlet's eyes, her words almost get lost to the wind. Every time he gazed into those deep blue pools, everything else seemed to vanish into a strange fog. Blinking, Eli brings himself back and gives a little smirk. "Knight, huh? Would that make you the damsel in distress?" He cocks his head. "Nah... I think it would take an awful lot for you to be in distress, and I think damsel sounds a little too fluffy too."

He retrieves her helmet and hands it to her. "Maybe you're just the hot babe in need of a lift." A grin returns to his face. "More hot than in need, if I dare say so while we're not even talking over drinks."

One day

Giving a slight nod Scarlet did agree with Eli. Her job was exciting and different from many but even than sometimes it got annoying.

There were days Scarlet did wish she had a regular sit down job where she didn't have to travel all over the place, but for now till anything changed she liked it. Maybe one day if she had reason she cut back to only doing state jobs.

"I wouldn't mind painting motorcycles ether. Sometimes a change is nice and at least you have consistent work. Sometimes I can go weeks, or months without anything. But all in all yeah I like its fun. Maybe sometime you can take a road trip with me."

Giving a slight chuckle Scarlet stands with Eli. Her eyebrow raising a little not sure how to disypher his tone but smiling non the less. Taking a few steps forward before stopping next to Eli to look up at him.

"I thought you said this was the first date? And if its not than I need to pay you back for lunch."

Stepping outside once again Scarlet toss her jacket on once again moving her hair to the outside. It was a nice day out today, the sun was shinning and the warmth felt good, defiantly a good day to ride.

"My chariot huh? I dont know if I like how that sounds...all fluffy and what not. I think its more of a knight in shinning armor motorcycle style and what a good knight you make. Mmmm...mmmm...mmm."

4/16/10

Chariot

"I see." Eli listens, his eyes squinting slightly as if trying to imagine all that Scarlet did on her trips.

"Seems... pretty exciting." He nods and cleans the rest of the food off his plate before washing it down with another swig of coke. "Traveling... adventure. I can see you liking that."

Grinning a little, he fishes out his wallet to pay for both their meals. "And I thought painting motorcycles was exciting. Looks like you got me beat."

Setting the money to the side for the waiter to take, he swirls the ice around in his glass so he can finish off the pop. There was a slightly strange tone to his voice, most difficult to identify. "Miss ya? Just throw me a Tomb Raider movie and that'll tide me over." He winks at Scarlet before sliding from his seat to stand up. "But what am I saying? We haven't even been on a date yet."

A smile creases his lips and he turns to swagger to the door, opening it up for Scarlet. "Melady. Your chariot awaits."

Miss me

Giving a short laugh at Eli's comment Scarlet can't help it. Men, typical men. Giving a shake of her head the grin stayed on her lips. Taking another peace of beef and chewing it for a moment before speaking again. Her eyes seemed to twinkle a little more as she talked about her job showing she did enjoy it almost as much as riding.

"State, Nation, and world wide...all three. Most is just state to state. The world wide jobs come maybe three or four times a year and they pay well enough that, thats all I really need."

Leaning back in her chair and wiping her mouth Scarlet lets out a thoughtful sigh. Her tummy was defiantly starting to get full.

"I just got request today to take a trip out to New York in a few weeks. Looks like its going to be an interesting one. Have to check up one some pottery the South West Academy museum is looking into buying."

Looking across the table at Eli Scarlet leans forward her arms crossed in front to hold her weight.

"If your worried about missing me I'm never gone for more than a few days unless I run into a problem."

Wetsuit

Hearing Scarlet's initial answer, Eli stops chewing for a moment, his one eyebrow quirking at a peculiar angle. Had he heard her correctly?

Receiving the rest of her explanation though, he understands, and his eyebrow lowers and he continues chewing thoughtfully. "Wow... sounds like quite a job." He spears another shrimp with his fork and takes it between his teeth, still trying to picture Scarlet in that role. "Mm... Laura Croft was okay... looked good in a wetsuit."

A little mischievous grin sneaks out and he moves on quickly. "So does this... hunting... take you statewide, nationwide, or worldwide? All the time or once in a while?"

Better Looks

"First date...I can deal with that."

Giving a grin and heading inside Scarlet felt at easy being here with Eli. Things the other day had gotten a little strange but non the less she had broken the ice and now they were eating lunch on there first date.

Finally getting her order of broccoli and beef Scarlet started to eat slavering the taste. It had been a while since she last had Chinese but now she was thankful it tasted so good.

Hearing Eli's question Scarlet takes a peace of broccoli with her chop sticks thinking for a moment before answering. Finally looking up and giving a small smile her tone was calm and cool.

"I'm a bounty hunter."

Letting the comment linger and sink in for a moment Scarlet's lips finally turn up into a grin. Not wanting Eli to die to much from shock another chuckle comes out.

"Don't worry, I don't hunt humans. I get payed to find artifacts that belong in museums, or go look into differnt items for places to see if what is said is the truth before they buy the item kind of undercover."

Taking a sip of her water Scarlet lets the cool liquid slide down her throat. It was obvious she was thinking again before she spoke.

"I guess you could say I'm like Tome Raider, except Laura Croft has the better looks."

Looking up at Eli and searching his face Scarlet wondered what he was thinking now. Her job was not one you ran into every day but she liked it and it kept her busy. It took her to different and interesting places as well. At times it was lonely but things were almost moving, and changing and sometimes that was best. But who new maybe sometime Eli could go on an adventure with her.

Rule

Feeling the little squeeze from Scarlet, a grin emerges on Eli's face. Dismounting his bike, he locks their helmets to it and pockets his keys.

"Mmm... if you have the urge to kiss me, you're right, we better not call this a date since it couldn't have been a date the other night, due to that kiss, so today would still be the first date. And you know my rule." Eli's eyes glint with coyness as he looks at Scarlet. There was something about her that didn't allow him to walk away. She'd made him feel a little uncomfortable the other night, but there was still something in those eyes of hers... something that drew him in. There was a whole lot more to this woman than the tough exterior she proudly wore. Something that said she would be herself only around those with whom she really felt comfortable, and he was catching sight of it. It was intriguing... almost an accidental seductiveness.

"Maybe." Eli has a hard time bringing himself back around to Scarlet's question and he knows he'd been caught staring at her. "I have a lot of favorites," he admits. "Today it was Chinese."

Going to the door, he holds it open for her, letting her go in first. It really was a tiny place, and it was obvious that much of their business was done through takeout rather than those dining in. Eli finds a table near the front window though so they can sit and eat. A short while later, he's enjoying some shrimp, and chatting about his work at the body shop. It wasn't very deep - just some smalltalk to pass the time as they eat.

"I don't think you've told me yet what you do," he mentions, taking a sip of his coke. "What occupies your time and brings home the money?"

Carson grins at Jason and Katie's interaction, knowing there was a whole lot more between them than outsiders would guess. "Special?" He thumbs to the little sign on the counter. "Chicken parmesan. Though what you smell is the supreme pizza I got in the oven."

"Hey," Jason interrupts. "Speaking of pizza. Could you handle a party next week? Got a JetStream gig and we'd like to hang out here afterward if you'll stay open."

"Sure." Carson doesn't even hesitate. He liked it when the bands hung out at Mom and Pop's, more than he'd ever said. He almost felt like they were his friends too, though he wasn't really a part of their groups. Both JetStream and Cryptic liked to spend time here and Carson enjoyed it. "Just name the night, I'll keep 'er open for you guys. Big group?"

"Nah... just the band and maybe a couple others."

"Alright. I'll get Misty to come in and help me so I don't leave her hanging alone at home."

Leo cringes a little at the mention of the phone. "Aw, sorry... I think I dropped the phone and didn't figure it was important enough to bother you with another call."

Accepting the bowl of soup, he sits up a little straighter, overcoming his dizziness for now. Taking a slow spoonful, he chews a tender piece of chicken, then lets the soup slide down his throat. Closing his eyes, he takes a deep breath. "Mmm... I shoulda known this would be good." He takes another bite. Even though he was clearly sick, it was also obvious that the soup really did hit the spot.

"Don't apologize," he counters quietly. "I'm... glad you barged in." He offers a little smile. He hadn't changed his mind about being just friends, but Cassy was a good friend... a true friend.

Gleam

Continuing to hold onto Eli while he drove Scarlet didn't mind where they were going as long as they went. She liked driving, but riding was just as nice not minding at all that for once she got to just hold on.

Finally coming to there destination Scarlet was only a little sad the ride had to end already. Still sitting behind Eli Scarlet takes her own helmet off letting her hair fall down still in the ponytail. Looking at the restraint for a long moment never had she eat here before, but it looked like an ok place.

Holding her helmet against her with one arm her other still rested on Eli's side as she cocked her head before tighting her arm in a half hug. Letting go Scarlet gets off the bike still grinning at Eli and giving a nod her eyes twinkling in the beams of sun light.

"I've never been here before, but who doesn't like Chinese. Better becareful some people say its a romantic type of food. I might think this is a date..unless another kiss is involved than we don't have to consider it a date."

Still grinning her eyes had soften just a little bit with a timid gleam in them. Stepping twords the building Scarlet stops and turns back to Eli waiting for him to follow along with her.

"So...is Chinese your favorite?"

Finally finding everything she needed Cassy wasted no time warming up the soup, putting some crackers on a plate, and making some tea for Leo. Cassy didnt mind hurting for everything she rather enjoyed it know and hoping this would make Leo feel even a little better. Even if he could take care of himself it was nice helping him.

Humming to herself Cassy quickly washed the few dishes she had dirtied before taking the try with the food and drink. Bringing it back in to Leo she moved a few things on the night stand to the side before setting the stuff down.

"Here you go, home made chicken noddle soup, and some chamomile tea for your throat."

Sitting down on the edge of the bed again after taking the wash cloth from his forehead so he could sit up and heat a little. Cassy gives a smile again before talking a little on the quiet side knowing his head was hurting.

"Sorry I kind of barged into your house. The front door was unlocked and I just wanted to make sure you were ok and all since ya hung up on me earlier."

Giving a wave to Carson as they enter Katie takes a look around the room seeing they really could pick where ever they wanted without a problem. It was almost a half hour before lunch when it would get really busy and for the most part Katie was happy for that. It just seemed a little more personal when they were able to just stand and talk a little.

"How could we stay away from this place? Its just fast book is more convenient, though I fear I put on a few pounds from it."

Looking back to Jason she ducks just a little wondering if she would get an elbow to the side or not. Rolling her own eyes at his comment about being free.

You better watch you buddy, one of these days your gonna be tied down too.

Pulling on Jason's emotions to make him laugh or at least smile it was easy to tell she was playing around with him. Not so long ago she had asked him every day to marry her, but not she'd learn that it would come with time and just having him here was what was important.

"Ha..I hardly tell him what to do, I only direct him on the right path."

Wrapping her arm around Jason's wast Katie pulls him a little closer in a playing manor. She liked interacting with there friends, even if it had been a while it was still nice to know somethings never changed.

"Mmm...something smells good. Whats the special today?"

Don't stop

Eli grins and puts his bike in gear. It starts forward with a little jolt, though he shifts as smoothly as he can. His bike wasn't built for the comfort of a second passenger, but as long as he felt Scarlet hanging on to him, he wouldn't worry. Steering out of the parking lot, he can already feel her sense of balance, not having to compensate for any awkward movement behind him. Having witnessed her skill the other night, he knows she'll be fine as he lets his bike speed up. Hitting a back street, he lets the motorcycle go, zipping past the buildings and hitting at least two yellow...orange lights. It would seem he has no idea where he's going, but soon it's evident that he'd purposely taken the long way around town, just to wind up at Tou Han's, the little Chinese takeout place which would have been a straight shot from the auto shop had he been driving with logic. The restaurant really was a hole in the wall, with only a few tables to sit at, but the food was worth it.

Parking on the street, Eli lets his bike ease over onto the kickstand, and he cuts the engine, removing his helmet. Glancing over his shoulder, he eyes Scarlet. "Chinese alright?"

Leo musters up a wry grin at Cassy, and doesn't object to her telling him how she would help. He didn't have the energy to argue with her anyway.

When she comes back with a cold cloth, he looks at her gratefully. He could take care of himself alright, but having a bit of help really did make a difference. Relaxing under the cool wetness of the cloth, he turns more on his back so the cloth wouldn't slide off and sighs deeply, pulling his blankets up as the chills start again.

Trying to just let Cassy help, he stays in bed, hearing her in the kitchen, and was tempted to holler where things were. She was smart enough to figure it out though, so he remains silent, willing himself not to fall asleep before she came back. Soon the aroma from the warming soup was making his mouth water.

Jason returns Katie's kiss and grins as she backs up. "I'm ready now. Let's go before the lunch rush."

Heading from TJY, they drive the short distance to Mom and Pop's, finding it fairly quiet today. The little bell on the door signals their arrival, and Carson looks out from the kitchen, a smile spreading on his face. "Oy, look who the cat drug in."

With only a few customers, he comes out from the kitchen, his baseball cap backward on his head, and wiping his hands on a towel. "Trying to make yourself strangers, or what?"

Jason grins and leans an elbow on the counter. "Blame Reese for not calling you to duty more often."

"Either that, or blame you two for being traitors and eating somewhere else for lunch," Carson teases.

Jason laughs and shakes his head. "You know this is our favorite... even if you're the one cooking."

Carson smirks and whacks Jason with his towel. He looks sternly at Katie. "Keep him under control, will you?"

"Hey, I'm not the one tied down," Jason defends. "I'm still free."

Another grin spreads on Carson's face. "You poor thing."

When Jason and Carson started getting along, no one could really tell. They'd gone from friends, to enemies to coworkers to acquaintances, and now seemed to be settling into a decent friendship once more, though perhaps with stronger roots this time. Maybe there really was no specific point in time when they ceased their head-butting, but now they could work alongside together, and the banter was quite frequent whenever they were together. The past maybe wasn't forgotten, but it was being set aside.

Jason chuckles and slings an arm around Katie's shoulders. "Don't feel too sorry for me. She likes to tell me what to do, regardless of whether or not we're wearing rings."

Carson tosses Katie a wink. "Don't stop. He needs it."

Rummage

Giving a little jump Katie had felt Jason getting a little closer but she didn't mind pretending anyways. Spinning around and grinning at Jason her eyes twinkle.

"Eating at Mom and Pop's would be nice. I haven't been there in so long. I hope poor Ryder doesn't think its because of his cooking."

Standing Katie wonders over to the wall and lean twords Jason a little. Bringing her lips to his she press them firmly to his for a long lingering moment before backing up only one step so she was still semi close to him.

"I'm ready whenever you are."

Giving another smirk Scarlet gives a slight nod to his comment about being ok before stand straight again. Her eyes twinkling as she looks at Eli the sassy being present but the little shy glint hiding that maybe only Eli would see.

Turning and following him out of the shop Scarlet goes to her bike and grabs her helmet before coming back over to him. Slipping the helmet on Scarlet climbs on the back of his bike. Wrapping her arms around his wast she leans her chin onto his shoulder.

"Ok, I'm ready, and I don't mind where we eat."

Giving a smile Cassy moves a little closer to the bed heading Leo's acceptance to her being there. She was happy he wasnt mad, or told her to leave. It felt good him wanting her there.

Sitting down on the edge of the bed Cassy gives a small chuckle. He had original told her not to come but how could she not?

"When it came down to wanting to know if you were ok or not...no listen was not an option."

Placing her hand on Leo's head Cassy can tell he has a fever. She wondered if he had any cold medicine in the bathroom yet she would only feed him the soup and tea for now hoping it would bring him a little comfort to get some rest.

"Ok let me get a cool cloth for your head and warm up some of that soup for you. It's homemade something my mom use to make. I hope you'll like it."

Giving Leo's hand a little pat Cassy stands and leaves the room. Rummaging around for a little bit she finds a wash cloth and puts some cool water on it before going back into Leo's room. Placing the cloth on his head Cassy gives another smile before leaving once again to head to the kitchen and find her way around for bowls, and other items.

Never listen

Eli chuckles and shakes his head. "Nah... not too much. The guys are just bored - they'll do anything to occupy themselves, even if it's razzing a guy about his personal life."

Accepting Scarlet's keys, his fingers curl around them for a moment before turning write out a tag, then hang them on a peg board with a bunch of other keys. Lunch. Did he want to? "I've been alright," he responds to her question. Cocking his head, he gives her an obvious once-over. "Looks like you're doing well yourself."

He leans over to rest his elbows on the counter, bringing himself closer to her. "I think I could get away with stopping for a bite to eat. Can't let a customer starve, now can I?" Tossing her a wink, he straightens up and heads back into the garage, reappearing only a minute later with his jacket and helmet. "Grab your helmet... I got an hour."

Leading the way out to his bike, he mounts up and starts the engine, waiting for Scarlet to get on behind him.

Leo was half asleep when he thinks he hears movement in his apartment. Surely it must be his imagination. He closes his eyes again and ignores it. If someone was stealing his stuff, he couldn't defend himself anyway.

Then hearing Cassy's voice though, his questions were answered. Lying on his side, he pries his eyes open to see her blurry form standing near the bed. "Cassy?" he mumbles. Hearing why she was there, Leo couldn't help the nice little warm feeling he got. Even if he would have told her not to come and he didn't need her to, he was feeling poorly enough that right about now, her sweet company would be nice. Even he had to admit that. Today was a day that he wouldn't mind some attention.

A little grin makes its way to his lips. "Never listen to a guy, do you?" he croaks. "I'm glad. Soup sounds fantastic."

Great idea. We'll eat, go for a walk, then stop by Mom and Pop's. I haven't seen him much lately either. Haven't needed him for any cases around here and I just haven't been eating down there either. Or... we could just eat at Mom and Pop's in the first place, and kill two birds with one stone.

"Boo." Jason pops around the corner to look down over Katie's cubicle wall, a smile on his face.

4/15/10

Soup

Scarlet's grin grows even more as she can hear the whistle from the bay area soon to be shut off by the closing door. Looking up at Eli her eyes twinkle as she leans slightly on the counter. It had been almost two maybe three days since there last in counter, and though that really wasn't long it felt like it had been.

"I'd like it, and feel much more comfortable having your drive me home. Not to mention catch up a little about the last few days. Only place I need to go is home, unless you have time for lunch too."

Sitting up from the counter finally Scarlet holds her keys to her bike out to Eli dropping them in his hand. It was not often she'd let someone else touch her bike but she new it was in good hands here.

"So, how are you? They aren't harassing you to much are they?"

Mmmm...a trip to the park afterward sounds like a great plan. Work off a little lunch.

Giving a small laugh Katie shook her head a little. She'd never tire of her communication with Jason. She was only happy they had learned to live with it. They weren't normal, but she liked it that way and it made them have a special bond.

Than again, anything as long as its with you sounds good as well. Maybe on our way back to work we cans stop by and see Carson. I haven't really seen him since Misty and himself got back from there honeymoon. I want to know how everything went for him.

Putting the book down she was reading and turning the stove off Cassy stirs the chicken and rice soup giving it a little taste. Oh it turned out so good this time around, she was certin Leo would love it and it would help him feel better.

Getting a big plastic bowl out Cassy pours the soup into it before reaching into the cupboard for some crackers and tea bags. Leo hadnt called her back and she was a little worried. He has sounded so bad on the phone if anything she just wanted to make sure he was ok.

...Giving a knock on the door and not getting an answer Cassy checks the nob feeling it was unlocked she opened the door and stepped inside.

"Leo...its Cassy."

Stepping in more not getting an answer Cassy closes the door behind her before finding her way to the kitchen. It was a cute little apartment, and easy to find ones way around Cassy liked it.

Setting the soup and tea down along with the keys Cassy does a little more investigating before finding her way to Leo's room. Feeling a little strange she didn't want to scare the crap out of him, but she did want to make sure he was ok. Givinging a knock on the door she opens it a little as if testing make sure he was decent.

"Leo, its Cassy your front door was open and I was just checking to make sure you were ok. I brought you some homemade chicken noodle soup."

Opening the door a little more and stepping in a little closer to the bed Cassy was a little leery not sure what Leo might think but waiting to see if she got a reply from him.

Girlfriend

Alright. I might give Carson a call to see if he'll have Mom and Pop's open late that night. If he says yes, we can probably have the place to ourselves.

A grin spreads on Jason's face as he feels Katie tugging on his warm emotions. She'd gotten awfully good at it, and it was hard to get in a bad mood anymore when she was around.

What? You think I'd say no to lunch? I am so there. As long as we can go to the park afterward... Trooper needs a good walk and your company would be perfect.

The little ringing bell could be heard through the open door to the garage and all the guys look up expectantly. Somehow, Eli's phone call wasn't a secret, nor was his date or not-date the other night. No one knew what had happened since he was remaining obnoxiously close-mouthed about it. Today, however, they all knew Scarlet was here, and hearing the bell, they knew it had to be her.

As Eli heads for the door, several of the guys whistle, one of whom was Tal himself, who had probably started most of the razzing, though it couldn't be proven. Eli turns around and walks backward toward the door, throwing them all an annoyed look. "Behave," he chides. "Customer."

"Girlfriend," someone tries to correct.

Eli points a warning finger at him. "Customer. Get back to work." Sliding into the waiting area, he shuts the door behind him to cut off another loud whistle. Seeing Scarlet, he offers her a grin. "That was quick."

Ambling to the desk, he makes a note of the time of arrival. "Okay... it should be a couple days - someone will call you when it's finished... in the meantime you can leave your keys here and... we can give you a ride to where you need to go next."

His eyes come back up from the paperwork to meet Scarlet's gaze. Their evening watching fireworks seemed like ages ago, even though it had only been a few days. For now, Eli's business tone is set aside. "I actually have time to give you a ride. It'd give me a chance to ask how you are as a friend instead of a customer."

Leo doesn't get out of bed for several hours, drifting in and out of sleep. Battling his fever, he winds up taking something for it, but all it does is make him sick to his stomach and throw up, so he stays in bed, hoping it will just wear off. His phone rings at least three times but he just lets it go, not feeling like answering it. At this point, he didn't care that he needed to clean his apartment or even go lock his front door... all he wanted was sleep, and even that was hard to come by.

Sounds great

Leaning back in her chair at her cubicle Katie's eyes were closed for the moment as she leaned back in her chair. This new ability that had come up was a little on the rough side. Katie hated feeling like she was ease dropping but with this there really was no way not to.

Of course I don't mind you know that. If its something for the band you better believe I'll make room if I have too. I've missed the Jetstream concerts.

It had been a little while since the last concert and Katie really did miss it. It was a nice time to get out and be with there other friends. Enjoying the music and making sure everything went smooth it was Katie's little get away.

Ohhh...Pizza afterward sounds great too. I miss hanging out with everyone. It should be a real nice time like always.

Opening her eyes again Katie pulls on a few different emotions from Jason, Happy, excited, and the warmth of her love. Taking her pen and starting to jot a few things down giving a smile even though Jason couldn't see it she new he would feel it.

Want to do lunch?

Leaning back in the chair on her porch Scarlet holds a manella folder that held papers inside. Hearing her phone go off she found it a bit odd anyone would be calling her at this time of day. Not knowing the number she though it best to answer it anyways.

"Hello?"

Hearing Eli's voice on the other end an instant smile forms on Scarlet's face. Eli hadn't called her as soon as she thought and this might be a business call but he was calling her non the less.

Closing the folder in her lap Scarlet sits up in her chair leaning forward a little. Quiet for a moment as she thought about some different things she had to get done. She had her car so she should be ok for the most part.

"Yeah I can bring it in no problem, than if I can get a ride later back to my place that would be great. I'll be over in a few."

Hanging up the phone Scarlet takes the folder she had been looking at and throws it down on the table. Grabbing her bike keys and throwing her leather jacket on she was off once more.

Not taking to long to get to the shop Scarlet had been lucky and had hit very few red lights. Pulling into the parking lot she wasn't sure where Eli would want her to park the bike so for now here was fine.

Entering the shop her boots make a light clicking sound on he floor as she makes her way over to the counter. Not seeing anyone she spots the bell and hits it a few times. Today her hair was pulled back nicely in a pony tail though curls could still be seen coming out the end of it.

Taking Leo's phone call Cassy wanted to interrupted a few times but stops being able to tell he really wasn't feeling all that well. She felt bad that he felt so bad, he should stay in bed and get some rest. She'd bring his car over to him and walk home, it would be a long one but one she wouldn't mind at all.

"Leo.."

About to tell him she would bring it over Cassy stops hearing the loud crash of the phone stopping and than the line going dead. Holding the phone she just blinks for a long moment almost stunned. Maybe he did it not by mistake because he really didn't want to talk to her? No that couldn't be it.

Weighing her options on weather or not to bring his car over to him now or not Cassy just thinks. For now she should just let him get the rest he needed. She didn't want him to feel smothered. If she didn't hear anything from him later she would head over and maybe with a little chicken and rice soup for him.

Business call

By the time Cassy and Leo arrive at his apartment, his head is throbbing. He couldn't remember a time he'd been hit so quickly. A couple hours ago, he'd felt just fine.

"Mm-hmm." He nods groggily. "I'll be alright. I'll... call you in the morning or something about my car."

Opening the door, he pauses and turns to look at Cassy one last time. "Thanks... and sorry I got sick on ya. I'll see ya soon." Sliding out of the car, he shuts the door and gives a little wave, walking slowly up the walk to his apartment. Fumbling for his keys, he finally gets inside and heads straight for his room, ignoring his answering machine and that days mail, along with forgetting to lock the door again. Once in his bedroom, he eases down on the bed, kicking off his shoes and just pulling a blanket over himself, not bothering to get out of his clothes. All he had to do was sleep this off... just... sleep it off...

Once morning comes though, the bug hadn't worn off. Leo hadn't been able to sleep half the night, tossing and turning, first hot, then cold, then hot, then chilled. A fever wasn't helping matters, and by the time his clock is showing 7:00, his head was still pounding. This was all he needed right now, on top of everything else.

Blowing his nose for the umpteenth time, he manages to pry himself from bed. He just had to get up and moving, that was all. Just get up... moving. He sinks back down to sit and stare at the floor. There was no way he could go to work today.

Grabbing a pair of comfortable pants, he finally gets out of his jeans from the night before, and manages to find a clean, baggy t-shirt. He shuffles down the hall in his bare feet to the kitchen phone and after dialing, he just closes his eyes and leans his head on the wall. "Darrel? Leo. Not coming in today."

"You sound terrible."

"Thanks."

"Alright, we'll make do. Take care of yourself."

"Uh-huh." Hanging up, Leo turns to go back to bed, but then stops, cringing. Cassy. His car. Putting a hand to his head to try and stop the dizziness, he picks the phone back up. After misdialing twice, he finally gets it right and waits for her to answer. "Ummm, Cassy?" His voice was a mix of scratchy and stuffed up. "It's Leo, um... don't worry about my car today, okay?" He leans against the wall again, just wanting his pillow. He wasn't in any shape to drive her back home after she brought his car, and he didn't want her to have to worry about it. "I'll, um... figure it out... tomorrow... or something."

He wasn't even sure if he was making sense. "I'll... talk to ya later." Turning around, his hand loses its grip on the phone and he fumbles with it a moment before it clatters to the floor. Groaning, he reaches down to pick it up, only to find that it had ended the call. Oh, well. Cassy knew not to come. There really wasn't any point in calling her back.

Putting the phone back, he trudges back down the hall and flops into bed again.

"Yeah, that Sanders guy canceled both his vehicles, and Greg Yardson postponed the work on his car 'cause of insurance or something."

Eli rolls his eyes. "So we've gone from swamped to having nothing to do."

"Well... not nothing." Tal grins. "But almost. Gary already took the day off."

"Psh." Eli wipes his hands on a rag. "I'm not taking off. I can find something to fill my time."

Tal cocks his head with a sly glint in his eye. "You mean like... bumping up another customer?"

Eli snaps his rag against Tal's arm. "Maybe. You just go take care of that Corvette you're working on." Grinning, he turns and heads to the office to make the call. Sandy was out for a while, so he assumes to chair behind the desk and rolls over to the phone. Flipping through their record book, he finds the right number and dials, waiting. "Yeah, Scarlet? This is Eli McKade." He didn't want to seem cool towards her, but this was a business call. "Got an opening and wondered if you wanted to bring your bike in a few days early, if you can spare it for a couple days. The shop will supply you with a ride back home or whatever if you need it."

Gig coming up.

Jason's thoughts stop.

But... you knew that already, didn't you?

He'd just gotten off the phone with Jen about JetStream's next engagement to play at a spring fundraiser. The profit wouldn't be big, but the band never minded, as long as the rest of the money was going to a good cause.

It had taken a while, but Jason had finally figured out that Katie was hearing much of what he was lately. He wasn't sure when it had started or what was causing it, but he had yet to figure out how to control it. It was like he was a walking microphone, sometimes, but not all the time. He needed to figure out how to stop it, but needed more time to work on it. It could come in handy while working in the field but... when it came to everyday conversations, Jason found it to be somewhat annoying. He'd already emailed his mom once instead of calling her because he'd wanted privacy. He'd tried to keep his annoyance from Katie though, knowing that she couldn't help it. She could cut him off, but that would be painful, every time he just didn't want her to hear something.

Anyway... I hope you don't mind I gave the okay on that date - didn't think you were busy that night.

He swivels in his chair and stands up to rummage through his filing drawer, looking for something for Susanne.

I was thinking about suggesting pizza afterward like we used to do. How's that sound?

4/14/10

One peace

Giving a small nod Leo didn't have to ask twice. Already grabbing her jacket and slipping it on she goes for her shoes next.

"No need to be sorry. I'd rather drive you and know you got home ok than send you off on your own. Tomorrow, I'll drive your car over."

Finishing with her shoes and grabbing her keys Cassy makes sure Leo is close behind as they head to her car. She new he must be embarrassed though really there was no need.

Once all settled in she was off, and it didn't take long still she was at Leo's apartment following his directions she only made a wrong turn once. Parking out front she takes a side long glace to the building. It didn't look like to shabby of a place to live, and at least it was someplace with a roof.

"You need help inside or you think you can make it?"

Her cheeks still a little rosy Karla breaks her gaze from Kips looking around the room. She felt a little silly, though she didn't know why. Maybe because she had done something out of character and it even shocked her.

"Sure..I can help. Looks like everyone else will be ok without us. There is no settling them down now."

Finally looking back to Kip again Karla chews on the inside of her own lip giving a soft smile. How she felt now was different, not so much an awkward different, but that things had shifted a little and though Kip was still her friend maybe something a little deeper had started to form.

"Ok, I'm good lead the way."

Giving a nod she steps a little forward but than waits for Kip to continue out. She thought she new witch closet he was talking about but she wanted to make sure not leading them in a big circle.

Stupid

"Um..." Leo tries to think. While he'd been lying down watching the movie, he hadn't felt much different, but now trying to function again, it just wasn't working so well.

"I guess... well I think I'll be okay." Standing up again, he wobbles a bit, wandering towards the door where his sneakers are. Working at slipping them on though, he just leans back against the wall and closes his eyes a moment. Fifteen minutes ago, he felt fine. This was ridiculous.

"I feel stupid," he admits. "But I can't drive like this. I guess I have to accept a ride home... I'm sorry."

Having Karla come back for another kiss, Kip couldn't help the surprise on his face. His eye were slightly wide, and he stares at her lamely for a moment, his face growing warmer. "Oh... okay," he stammers. Biting his lip, a grin slips out, even though he was a bit embarrassed. He opens his mouth as if to say something, but he stops, then returns to biting his lip. His hands go to his pockets and he rocks back on his heels, nodding to the door. "I could... use a hand with that closet... if you wanna help."

Please

Watching Leo Cassy gives a soft chuckle it was her turn to stand now. Moving to shut the tv off Cassy stops as Leo falls on the couch once again. Going over to him and feeling his forhead she frowns her brow.

"Looks like you might be coming down with something. Are you going to be ok to drive? If you think you need a little sleep before attempting it you can crash here on the couch, or in the spare bedroom. Also I can drive you home than bring you car tomorrow when your feeling better."

Cassy already new more than likely Leo's answer would be no feeling to strange about it but she wanted to offer anyways. She would be going to sleep shortly herself, and no one was here to use the extra room so it wouldn't hurt anything.

"Or at least I can make you some tea."

Feeling Kip's to hers for a quick moment, it all happened so fast when he pulled away she was left standing there as some red came to her face. She didn't mind the kiss she only had not been expecting it at all let alone having it meld with the feelings for Kip she had and making her heart pick up a few beats.

Looking up at him finally Karla gives a blink before her mouth turns up into a smile her eyes giving a twinkle. Hearing his apology she wish he wouldn't, there was nothing to be sorry about but words just didn't seem to cut it.

Bringing her hand to his she wraps her fingers with his giving a gentil squeeze to stop him from leaving so fast. A shy glint flickered in her eye as she reached her hand to the side of his face running a finger along his cheek. Leaning into him she press her lips to his before dropping her hand and taking a few steps back. More red came to her cheeks as she looked up at him.

"Please don't be sorry."

Merry-go-round

Kyle's smile grows even bigger, glad that Alice would keep the secret with him. Though he felt ready to return home, he still needed to work through some of his emotions before the world knew where he was headed next.

Now that he had had a quiet moment and the shock was beginning to wear off, now it was Kyle's turn to revert to his hyper self. Standing abruptly, he throws his arms in the air and lets out a loud whoop.

Kip laughs and gives Karla a bear hug in return. It had been nice having her around lately. She really added to this little group and for Kip... well, she was more like a special friend than these others were. She'd been his friend first, and he knew she was closer to him than the others. It did make him feel kinda good on the inside.

"You're welcome. Thank you for tagging along for the ride."

Without even thinking, he bends and gives Karla a little kiss on the lips. Retreating quickly though, he straightens, his face growing red as a sheepish grin emerges. "I... sorry." Biting his lip, he motions to the door. "I gotta... go work on that hall closet again. Um... yeah."

Grinning a little, Leo moves his foot just a couple inches to give Cassy more room. He knew she was trying awfully hard not to crowd him, and though their conversation the day before had been necessary, he wished it hadn't caused the little tension between them, always wondering if they were overstepping lines now. But it was what it was, and he couldn't change it. He bumps her foot back on purpose to let her know she was fine.

As the movie finally comes to an end, Leo can't help a big yawn, his eyes droopy and tired. It was getting late, but he was almost too exhausted to even get up. He'd slept away the afternoon today, but it hadn't seemed to help. He didn't usually feel this tired. Maybe it was just stress. Though the back of his throat did feel a little scratchy, come to think of it.

"Yay for pirates," he comments with less enthusiasm than should be with that statement. Giving a little laugh, he rolls his eyes and sits up. He moved a little too quickly though, and all of a sudden, the room was spinning.

"Whoa." He blinks and puts a hand to his head, trying to ease the dizziness, though it was quite persistent. "Guess I sat up too fast." Shaking his head, he starts to stand, but loses his balance, winding up on the couch again.

"Okay, well... I guess my head doesn't want to follow the rest of my body." Did his forehead feel warm? "Maybe I need sleep more than I thought," he muses. "Either that or your living room really has decided to go on a merry-go-round ride."
