Invitation

Seeing Scott's hands Hope's heart sinks though she was happy it was a punching bag he used and not someones face. Grabbing another fry Hope pops it into her mouth sitting back in the chair.

"I'm sorry you had a rough day. Want to talk about it? I have two good eats and all the time in the world."

Giving another friendly smile Hope would listen if Scott wanted to talk. She might be a councilor but like she told him before she is always a friend first and would always listen off the clock.

Getting an even bigger smile on his face BJ was happy to have a task of taking Jason to Wes and his mom. Taking Jason by the hand the little boy moved fast, but could hardly drag Jason seeing as his legs where longer.

Seeing Jason on his way over Wes stands with Kaylee in arms and extends his free hand out to Jason giving a very big smile to his step son knowing this meant a lot to Cindy.

"Well look what the cat dragged in here. It good to see you Jason, you mother was worried sick you would change your mind after all."

Giving another nod Faith liked watching the family reunion, everyone exchanging there hugs, kiss, hellos and how are yous. It was a wonderful sight to see such a close family, it warmed Faith's heart. She was happy she would be able to meet everyone before her surgery as well, and not have to have them meet her first hand after.

"Thats really nice they came out for Christmas. I can tell it means alot for this family to be close and together. I like that."

Seeing Ryder's eyes fall on him Dan gives a nod to the new comer he had no met along with the young woman next to him. There seemed to be an off connection there for a moment but it soon broken as Katie goes to Ryder and Thirteen again.

"You guys can come and sit with Jason, my dad, Aunt and I if you like. They were just about to eat dinner or we made it in time."

Rosetta laughs at her niece and mess up her hair a little just happy to have the whole family around even if some of them didn't know it. Though she had to wonder what the intent of having Thirteen here was.

"Just like a Pent you are Katie always on time for food."

Feeling out of place Thirteen didnt know what to do or what to say. She hoped thing would get a little easier the longer they were here though. For now it was just....odd.

Just a little awkward

Scott looks down a moment, swiveling back and forth. "Other than me being tired? Yeah... yeah, things are fine."

He looks to the food, wishing he felt hungrier than he did. But what made him feel worse was lying to Hope. Sighing, he shakes his head. "Naw... it was a rough day, actually."

Swallowing hard, he finally reveals his bandaged hands and sets them up on his desk. "I had a fight with a punching bag... and lost." He shrugs. "Otherwise, it was a perfectly horrible day, deserving of the crap of the year award."

Jason's eyes widen and he catches his balance as the energetic little boy smacks into him. "Whoa, BJ, my man!" He ruffles BJ's hair and laughs. "One of these days, you're gonna run me right over. Where do you get your energy?" Finally free, he nods to the tables. "How about you showing me where my mom and Wes are, hmm?"

Ryder chuckles and winks at the child, getting a kick out of both the energy, and seeing Jason around a kid. He gives Thirteen's hand an extra little squeeze to let her know they were just fine. He nods to the faces as Katie introduces them, seeing some that he found oddly familiar.

Sparky nods to Faith. "Far as I know, they're staying through Christmas, yeah." His eyes find Thirteen again, wondering at her presence. He knew without a doubt who she was, and he couldn't help but question what Trent would do. As far as Sparky knew, this had not been planned.

And he was right. Trent sees Jasmine looking at him, and he finds it hard to muster up enough of a smile to appear cordial at least, while on the inside, something near panic was making his stomach church. He catches Ryder's eye and lifts an eyebrow as if asking what on earth was going on. But he receives no silent response. Instead, it's just Jasmine's wave. He finds himself giving her a little wave in return, but nothing more.

Feeling a bit awkward himself, Ryder takes another sweep with his eyes, for some reason landing on Dan. He gives a nod of greeting, wondering now if he and Thirteen were to sit with Jason and Katie or somewhere else.

New faces

Leaning into Gage as his arm is around her Sapphire enjoyed the closeness, and the warmth his offered. It was nice to be with someone and to be able to walk tall with a mans arm around her shoulder.

"Mmm...dinner sounds more than good. I think I am starving. Anything you want, its here you pick what we have."

Grabbing one of the extra chairs Hope sits down across from Scott's desk returning the smile. She could feel the tension in the air, one could cut it with a knife. Glancing to Dalton and than back to Scott Hope starts to open the food bag taking some burgers and frys out, turning back to Dalton again Hope gives an apologetic look.

"Sorry Hulk I didn't know you were still here or I would of got something for you too."

Looking up from his computer Dalton gives a smile and pushes away from his computer. He was happy Hope was here and only hoped Scott would talk to her. Maybe they needed some time alone.

"Oh, that's ok I was just about to go grab something myself. I'll be back shortly. You guys have a nice meal."

Grabbing his jacket Dalton heads out of the office closing the door behind him.

Watching Dalton leave Hope turns back to Scott still smiling. Searching his eyes for a long moment Hope grabs a fry to munch on.

"You look tired today. Everything ok?"

Entering the dinning hall with Jason and the other Katie smiles as Jeff takes her into a hug. She hadnt been gone all that long but it seemed like forever she had seen her father. Kissing him a kiss on the cheek Katie pulls away.

"Hey Daddy!!!! Its good to see you again."

Looking up from her dinner plate a smile forms on Rosetta's face as she sees Katie. Looking behind them her eyes show a little question as the two new people. She could only guess the other young lady was Jasmine but how much she looked like Kaite, and than that must be Ryder with her.

"Katie, Jason...its good to see you made it."

Before anything else can be said a little lighting bolt shoots across the dinningroom running right into Jason's legs and clinging to them.

"J!!!!!!!!!"

BJ look up at him smiling. He'd always liked Jason and recintly had been asking Rosetta when he would see him again. He always liked when other guys were around craving for the male bonding even at a young age.

Giving a laugh at her little cousin Katie looks to Jason, Jeff, and than to Rosetta giving a smile. Finally stepping back a little Katie extend her hand to Thirteen and Ryder.

"Everyone this is Jasmine, but she likes to be called Thirteen, and than this is her boyfriend and friend of ours Ryder. Ryder, Thirteen this is, My aunt Rosetta, and my dad Jeff...than this little ball of fun here is BJ my cousin."

Giving a smile and a nod Faith was happy for a small informal introduction. Slowly taking Sparky's hand under the table she looks to him mouthing thank you. It was amazing how much Katie looks like her Aunt.

"They will be staying for Christmas too?"
Staying close to Ryder Thirteens eyes scan the room as she grips his hand. She been told these people were ok, but she couldn't help but be scared anyways of all the new faces and people. Trying to give a smile to the new people she had been just introduced to Thirteens eyes catch sight of Trent. Knowing him she gives a little wave to make herself a little more comfortable waiting for Ryder's lead.

Visitors

Once the ride is over, Gage's face is flushed with the adrenaline and his rare laughter. Looking over Sapphire's shoulder at the picture, he laughs again. "Aw great, first picture turned out great all right. Look at that look on my face."

Still grinning, he slips his hand from hers and instead, he moves his arm around her shoulders. "Since my stomach is still in tact, I think it's time for some food. I even have a couple bucks on me."

Scott looks up as Hope comes into the office, trying to bring a smile to his lips. "Hey." Receiving her kiss and hug, he returns the kiss, but not the hug, keeping his hands in his lap under the desk.

"Oh... things have been okay." He gives Dalton a sidelong glance before looking back to Hope. His body rocks nervously in his chair without him even realizing it. "How 'bout you?"

Jade pries herself from Dan, returning a quick kiss before accepting her bag. Walking to the bus, she takes a few backward strides, giving Dan one last wave before boarding. It was going to be a nice long ride, but soon she would return.

"Squeeze away." Ryder locks his fingers with Thirteen. "Just don't cut my blood circulation off."

Hearing Katie's comment, he whacks the back of her seat. "Hey. Lippy sheilas don't get parachutes when it's time to jump."

Jason quirks an eyebrow. "Oooh, now you're playing dirty."

"Aussie's privilege." Ryder leans back in his seat and pulls the brim of his outback hat over his eyes. "Wake me up when we get there."

The plane ride really doesn't take long at all, especially with the lighthearted banter that keeps up even after they land in Texas. Picking up a car and heading to the ranch, it's near nightfall by the time they arrive, and just in time for supper.

Jason parks near the garage and helps grab bags and makes sure the other three are in toe before heading to the dining hall. They'd have to move their bags later, but at this time of evening, this was where everyone would be. Comfortable with the ranch, Jason goes ahead and opens the door for the others.

Inside, the ranch is settling in for supper, the conversations and clanking of dinnerware filling the room. One of the closest to the door, Jeff turns in his seat, his eyes lighting up when he sees who had just entered. He's immediately on his feet, taking Katie into a hug. "Hey, Kiddo, you made it!"

Jason grins and spots Wes with his Mom and Kaylee a few tables away, and waves to them.

Ryder sticks close to Thirteen so she knows it's okay, his hand holding hers in a protective grip. He was fine with the small crowd even though he didn't know them, but he knew this was a big deal for her. They stand off to the side, just waiting for some introductions or cues as to what to do next.

Sparky looks up from the side, seeing the visitors and he smiles. Giving Faith a little nudge with his knee under the table, he nods. "And here we have Katie, who I've told you about, her boyfriend Jason and.... looks like they brought some friends with them."

Trent wanders to the side door of the dining hall, having hardly been seen all day. No one knew where he disappeared to, but usually it was for several hours. Most of the time he showed up to help with chores and "earn his keep" as he said, but even after having been here for so long now, he still kept to himself.

Now he headed inside to join the others for supper, though usually he found his quiet corner to sit alone. Sometimes some of the others sought him out and sat with him because they thought he was lonely, but most of the time he just quietly observed the others, content with solitude.

Stepping through the door, he closes it behind him and his eyes scan the room. He wasn't the last one in, but almost. Starting for his usual table in the far corner, he stops in his tracks. He had heard Katie and Jason were coming but... they had brought Ryder and Jasmine? His face pales slightly. Whose idea had that been? Had someone told Jasmine the truth? Why would Ryder have let her come here?

Picture

Getting on the roller coaster with Gage Sapphire's heart thumped in her chest. It was the thrill of the ride, and the ability to scream out all the frustration that drove her to love these rides.

Taking Gage's hand in her own as the ride started Sapphire gives a nervous smile before she finally admits something no one else new.

"I love these rides and I have gone on them many times alone, but...they still make me nervous so I am happy your right next to me. Its always fun with a friend, I wouldn't change this for the world."

Getting to the top hill it was always the best Sapphire looks out across the park and far on to where the hills met the sky. The cart just stopping long enough for Sapphire to points some things out to Gage. Finally as it plunges down a long scream come from her lips as she lets go of Gage's hand. Her own in the air, and the sound of her voice running out for all those to hear.

Knowing when they come come along to where there picture would be taken on the roller coaster Sapphire points and puts her arm around Gage's shoulder the best she can while still strapped in. Bringing her own head to Gage's and smile big.

Once the ride stops Sapphire gasps for air, as she knows for sure her voice will be raspy tomorrow but it was definitely worth it. Taking Gage's hand once again Sapphire felt a little shaky but not from being scaired, but from the excitement that ran through her veins. Stopping at the little phone shop on there way out Sapphire takes two of the pictures of Gage and herself on the ride. Handing one to Gage she smiles.

"Our first picture together, It turned out great!"

Entering TJY food in hand Hope makes her way across the floor. Going to her makeshift office first to drop off a few things and than heading to Scott's office. Giving a knock on the door Hope enters. Giving a small nod to Dalton she made her way to Scott's desk. Giving him a light kiss, and a hug before placing the bag of fast food on the counter.

"Hey there, I sure did miss you today. Hows everything been going here?"

Returning Jade's hug Dan nuzzles his face into her hair. He sure was going to miss her, just thinking about her leaving was enough to put a sadness in his heart. But at least she would be back that was comforting to know. Placing a finger under her chin Dan tilts her head up so he can look into her eyes.

"Please do, I'm gonna worry the whole way till I hear your call. Try and have a nice time, even if your not looking forward to being there...ok?"

Just holding Jade for a long moment Dan finally lets go and leans down to give her a kiss. Before backing away and picking up her bag to hand it to her. A smile on his face but somewhere behind his eyes was a glossy glisten he was going to miss her.

"You better get going so you don't miss your bus."

Sitting down in the seat next to Ryder by the window Thirteen looks out before back to Ryder. She was nervous and excited all at the same time. Taking Ryder's hand Thirteen gives a little laugh at his comment.

"But it would be a lot funnier the other way around, but I guess I wont. As long as I can squeeze your hand really tight."

Thirteen gives another big smile to Ryder before leaning her head on his shoulder doing her best to keep her nerves calm.

Giving a glance over her shoulder Katie smiles and than looks back at Jason, her eyes twinkling she was so excited to be going home.

They certainly do. I'm glad they found each other. They are are prefect match.

She'd gotten use to the jet by now, it was just another day, and another ride. Taking Jason's hand in her own Katie gives it a gentile squeeze pulling on his good emotions. Her heart was content and in love, how could it get any better? Giving a small giggle Katie looks behind them again.

"Hey keep it down back there, I'd like to not puke from the mushy stuff."

Rides

Spending time with Sapphire at the amusement park, Gage couldn't help but have fun. Though there was a dark cloud looming behind them, at least for this day, they could try to forget and just focus on thing that were not stressful.

Waiting for Sapphire at the restrooms, Gage paces slowly, taking in the surrounding people. He watched their movements, expressions and their walk. It was an old habit for times when he needed to decide if he was surrounded by friend or foe.

Rejoined by Sapphire, he grins. "A little? What's the fun of just screaming a little? Of course I'm ready. Lead the way." Taking her hand again, he lets her lead as he didn't know where any of the rides were. The line wasn't long, so it only took a few minutes before they were seated in the roller coaster. Harnessed in and slowly ascending, Gage looks down for a moment before giving Sapphire a sidelong glance. "I think I forgot to tell you...."

The coaster reaches the top of the hill, cresting to face the giant drop. "...I've never been on a rollercooaaaaaastteeerrrrrr!" His sentence is lost amidst his own yell as he screams right along with Sapphire. There was laughter in his voice though and by the second hill, his arms were in the air, feeling freer than he had in a very long time.

Scott lifts his head slightly, spying the can of pop. If he looked half as bad as he felt at the moment, it was no wonder Dalton thought he needed the pick-me-up.

Straightening in his chair, Scott nods a little. "Thanks." He flips the can open and takes a long swallow of the cool drink. Setting it back down, he sighs, just thinking for a long moment. His phone rings in his pocket, but he ignores it. If it was his mother or sister, he didn't want to talk to them right now. Once he hears he has a new voice mail though, he listens to it, hearing Hope's message. At least she wasn't upset about Christmas. He'd hoped she wouldn't be coming back to the office today, but now she was, and there was no way he could hide his bandaged hands.

Closing his phone, he sighs again. He wanted to go home. He wanted to go hide from the world. It wasn't fear this time. It was just.... everything felt so messed up.

"I gotta get it out of my head," he murmurs. "The Agency put it in me, there's gotta be a way to take it out."

With that thought, he leans to his computer, trying to at least get a little bit of work done. Opening his email though, and he felt another kick to his gut. He goes to reply, but then stops, closing out the email altogether. It wasn't worth the time. His sister wasn't going to listen to him no matter what he said.

Forcing himself to work, he knows Hope will be arriving soon, so he better have a good reason for looking the way he did. Maybe if he just stayed seated at his desk, he could hide his hands in his lap.

Jade sighs and looks to the bus then back at Dan. She felt like she was a magnet, stuck to his truck. She didn't want to go home... not right now. She loved her mom and knew her mom loved her, but Jade knew that eventually, the subject of her dad would be brought up and she really didn't want to deal with that now, not to mention everything going on with Dylan.

Wrapping her arms around Dan as they stood on the sidewalk, she nestles her head against his chest. "I'll call you when I get there," she promises.

A short walk on the tarmac, bags in hand and up the short flight of stairs. Into the jet and down the little aisle to find a good spot to sit, Ryder lets Thirteen take the window seat and eases down next to her.

Nudging her with an elbow, he teases her. "Now if we're up in the air and you get sick, barf in the bag, not on my lap, alright?"

Jason grins as he hears Ryder and sit down in a seat closer to the back that had more room for his long legs. He was so used to the Elite jets that it was all routine to him. He throws Katie a wink.
I hate to admit it but... those two are kinda cute.

2/7/10

Scream

Looking over to Gage as they drives and he talked Sapphire gave a small nod. One could tell Gage truly hated seeing her hurting, or at odds with her own family. In a way she was thankful that she showed he cared. It only gave her another reason to know why she was doing this and that this was right.

"Thank you Gage, for at least trying to explain my brother actions to me. It doesn't many everything he did ok though."

Tightening her grip on Gage's hand just a little like she herself was almost scared he might suddenly disappear Sapphire looks back to the road. Things changed so quickly and she was angry at her brother but...sadness...it seemd to stay at bay, maybe because her anger ran supreme for now. At least she still had her one friend.

"I'm glad you will be there for me Gage. I'll always be there for you too. I am not one to break my promises."

Finally the drive was up, Gage and Sapphire had made there destination. Today it seemed a little warmer out than normal and would make for a good day at the park. Parking and getting in Sapphire shows Gage around starting with a few lowkey rides before wanting to move to the roller coasters.

"Ok, so...how about we try the SkyMaster next...Its one of my fav roller coasters. But before we do I have to run to the ladys room, wait outside here for me ok?"

Entering the bathroom Sapphire hears her phone go off but ignores it for a moment as she enters the stall and does what she needed to, exiting a few moments later and washing her hands she finally pulls the phone out and reads the new email.

A fist clenches at her heart, as she can feel her teeth gritting after reading her brothers email. He really was going to keep pushing like this? Shaking her head Sapphire press a few buttons on her blackberry and brings up a black email of her own.

Scott,
I guess that's the thing you didn't warn me, you threatened and that's NOT ok. Pull rank on me all you want. I'm not backing down from this.
    -Sapphire
Exiting the bathroom Sapphire gives a smile to Gage before taking his hand in her own and making there way to the roller coaster.

"Ready to scream a little?"

Giving a long sigh as she listened to her voice mail Hope leans back in her car. After Dalton had called her last night she had been contemplating what to do. Scott hadn't asked for help yet so she didn't want to force it on him, but if his anger got to far out of control what would happen?

Had it been her own error not seeing this bottled up inside Scott? Had she really been so caress to over look it? Would he be ok and ask her for help? Hope new it wasn't her fault but she just felt so helpless in this situation. Maybe she would just keep an outside eye on Scott and see what happened. If anything got worse than she'd step in.

Dialing Scott back Hope lets out another sigh before finally getting his own voice mail.

"Phone tag now huh? No problem about tonight I'll look forward to it tomorrow."

Starting up her car and pulling out onto the highway Hope takes a few turns going to her next destination stoping her conversation for a moment as she tryed to think of words to say. Finally they come though.

"About your parents for Christmas..I was really looking forward to meeting them for the first time, but I guess there will be other times for that. So if you wish to have something just the two of us than that is completely ok. Just let me know. I'll probably be back to TJY in an hour or so, I'll stop in the office to see ya when I get back."

Heading back to the office Dalton limps a little bit holding his side. He had been able to get around Misty's questions without leading them to Scott. He didnt want his friend to be questions and make matter worse. Now he only needed to avoid Reese as well. Scott had lost controlle just this once, it would be ok, and Dalton would heal. It was only a cracked rib, and a few nice bruises on his face he'd had worse.

Before going into the office Dalton lets out a long sigh and straightens himself up a little bit as he enters. Looking over at Scott at his desk he still felt so bad for his friend. Going around to his own desk he sits and goes for a mountain dew before grabbing another as well and holds it out to Scott.

"You look like you could use this."

Pouring Rain

Gage mulls over what Sapphire was saying, remaining quiet. There were things he wanted to say... words that were on his mind, but he waits to formulate them first. That's what he usually did, so he knew that Sapphire wouldn't think he wasn't listening when he doesn't respond.

Receiving Sapphire's question, he manages a smile and he nods. She needed this more than he did. "Okay. The amusement park it is. Swing by my place first and I can even get on a nicer smelling shirt."

Once on their way, the drive was nice and long, giving ample time for thoughts, quietness and light conversation. After a particularly long pause though, Gage begins to speak. He'd thought it through enough now that he was ready to  say what was on his mind.

"I don't wanna harp on this anymore but... it's unresolved, and I just wanna explain how I'm feeling." He kept his tone gentle, not wanting to rile her up again.

"Your brother, Saph... he does see how important I am to you. That's why he's fighting so hard. If he thought you didn't care, he wouldn't have anything to worry about."

Stopping again, Gage watches the unfamiliar scenery pass by. "I can't... blame Scott. No, I'm not happy, and to be rightful honest, I'm a little scared of him. I can handle myself but I don't want to hurt anybody and he knows that - it puts me at a disadvantage."

He clears his throat, still thinking. "I know you think he's being selfish... but what the Agency did to him... They pride themselves for getting into people's heads. And I know Scott resisted the assimilation, but there's still a part of him now that's been trained by the Agency whether he likes it or not. And realizing that... it's enough to drive any man mad. If I was in his place, I'd have a gun and be hunting down the people that went after me. He's not. But where does all that anger go? Here I am, Agency scum, and dating his sister no less. It's only natural that he come after me."

Stopping for a moment, Gage's hand slips over to Sapphire's once again. He was trying to help smooth things over, but he knew that the bottom line was Scott had gone too far. Agency influence or not... he'd mishandled the situation. And Gage knew that Scott had hurt his sister deeply - it wasn't something that would just go away. Most likely, the siblings' relationship would never be the same again. But Gage wished it wasn't so. He didn't like seeing Sapphire upset, especially when he was the source of it all.

"Whatever happens though... I'm here for you. Source of the problem or not... you've done so much for me... maybe now it's my turn."

Scott listens quietly, though ire still churned deep below the surface. "I know God's the judge, Dalton... I know He's the one that will have justice in the end. But that doesn't take away what I feel. It doesn't take away these things in my head or erase my memories."

Being led from the bathroom, Scott wanted to feel better... he wanted to let it go and move on. These emotions - they weren't new. But enough inside his head had built up now that the anger had just piled up to the breaking point. He'd been beaten down, broken, scared, restored, and now after everything had settled down, he'd begun to realize the reality of it all, and like a light switch, it had turned on the anger. And now with Sapphire... he just couldn't understand.

Brought back to reality by Dalton's question, Scott shrugs. "I'll think about it." Walking beside his big friend, he stops and looks up at him. "Go see Rick." Hidden or not, he'd noticed Dalton favoring his side. "I'll be fine now. Thanks for... for helping me. I just... gotta work through this, okay?"

Stepping ahead of Dalton, he heads back upstairs in the lead, heading down the hallway and back to his office. He knew Dalton would probably stop at the infirmary, so he takes his time settling in behind his desk. Leaning back in his chair, he swivels, his mind reeling.

I'm looking through a window,
Streaked with pouring rain.
The images are blurred by,
Little rivers running down.

I see you standing out there,
The tears are in your eyes.
I reach for you to touch you,
But my fingers meet the glass.

Finally, Scott leans forward, pulling up a blank email and starts typing.
Sapphire -
I'm sorry about earlier. But don't ever again corner me like you did today. There are some things that I can't explain so I'm not going to try. I know you can think for yourself and that I can't tell you what to do. But if I didn't warn you about being more than friends with Gage, then I wouldn't be much of a brother. What happens between him and me stays between him and me. If he's any sort of man, he doesn't need you to come after me with threats. Do it again, and I have no problem pulling rank on you. So please... don't.
-Scott

Oh, I'm staring back at you.
But you're beyond my reach.
The rain just keeps on pouring down,
Are you still watching me?
The pain I feel is numbing,
Like an ice cold winter breeze.
Oh, the rain skews my perspective...
Or is it my own tears?

Hitting "send," Scott rifles through some papers on his desk, shuffling them and putting them back in his filing drawer. Then picking up the phone, he dials and waits to get the familiar voicemail. He knew calls were usually screened and that was just fine today. "Hope... it's me. I know you're working out of the office today. Look... I've got a lot of work to do and... it's gonna take me longer than I thought. I'm gonna have to take a rain check on supper tonight. We'll um... do it tomorrow. Also, um... I got to thinking about Christmas day and... I know we were gonna go to my parents and all but I was wondering if maybe you and I could just have a quiet time alone. I'd... like that better. So... let me know."

I'm looking through a window,
As I drive away.
The scenery is waving,
Like a storm-tossed memory.

I see you walking there,
A sadness in your eyes.
I reach for you to hold you,
But my fingers meet the glass.

The phone still rests in Scott's hand as he dials another familiar number. "Mom..." He'd reached another answering machine, and again, he was glad. "I know I said Hope and I would come to Christmas dinner, but, um... it looks like at least I won't be able to make it. There's a lot going on and... I hope you're not too disappointed. So... just plan on one less and I'll talk to you soon. Bye."

Oh, I'm staring back at you.
But you're beyond my reach.
The rain just keeps on pouring down,
Are you still watching me?
The pain I feel is numbing,
Like an ice cold winter breeze.
Oh, the rain skews my perspective...
Or is it my own tears?

Scott rests his head in his hands, rubbing his blind eye with his palm to relieve the soreness. It got worse when he was under stress, and if today had been anything, it was stressful. It was only mid-afternoon, but it felt like it should be late evening with how tired he was. His hands hurt too. After Dalton had bandaged him up, now the pain was finally sinking in.

Sighing, he fiddles on the computer a few moments before finally going for the phone again. There were too many things on his mind to concentrate on work right now. "Yeah, hey, this is Scott... um... listen... can we get together and talk? Would tonight work? Yeah, it's just... I got some questions about some Agency stuff. Yeah... okay sure. Thanks."

Please tell me it's the storm.
Tell me the clouds will break.
Tell me the pouring rain will,
Wash away the tears.
Tell me again how storms pass.
And bring the sun again.
Tell me...

Sliding his elbows apart, Scott leans his head down on his desk, closing his eyes. He didn't know when Dalton would be back to his own computer, but right now, he just was so tired. He just wanted to rest. His mind was so full, and now not only was it Agency thoughts battling inside of him, it was thoughts of his sister and the damage that had been done today. It just wasn't fair - none of it was.

Oh, I'm staring back at you.
But you're beyond my reach.
The rain just keeps on pouring down,
Are you still watching me?
The pain I feel is numbing,
Like an ice cold winter breeze.
Oh, the rain skews my perspective...
Or is it my own tears?

I'm looking through a window,
Streaked with pouring rain.

Consider

Pulling over to the side of the road like Gage asked Sapphire sat for a moment before she felt his warm hand on her face. It was a comfort she wanted, and but his words left a sting. This wasnt because of him, this was because of her brother and not being able to see past his own nose.

"No Gage, stop saying that. If I would have been happier I wouldn't have stood up for you in the first place. Your the only friend I got, and if my brother cant see how important you are to me, than that his problem. He's not the only one who deserves to be happy. I do too, and so do you."

Sapphire lets out a long sigh as the throbbing in her head continued. She wasn't angry with Gage, He'd done nothing wrong in this situation. Things would never be ok with her brother after this. She could feel it deep inside, this...this had broken everything. Even if they started getting along again, things wouldnt be the same.

"I told you I wasn't letting you go and I meant it Gage. You gave me a new reason to look forward to getting out of work. I'm not letting go of that."

Letting out another sigh Sapphire gives a smile to Gage. Things would be ok, she new they would be. They always were and she wouldnt give up faith in that yet.

"So anyways, I was thinking we could hit the amusement park. I know of one thats open this time of season, and its about two hours away. Its the best place if I ever new one that when you wanna scream thats the place to go. People wont look at you like your crazy, it gives you the total feeling of being free. Would you like to come with me?"

Continuing to wash Scott's hands Dalton tried to be as gentile as he could. He new Scott was hurt, and hearing his words about what h append Dalton felt even worse. This whole things could of been handled in a better manor but it wasn't, would things ever be the same?

"Scott, it not you who judges these people. God does what he see if fit, and yes I know your hurting a great deal, and I know you hate them but you have to turn to God and trust him. As for Sapphire..she has to see some good in Gage, like Misty saw in Carson. I'm not tell you to agree because I certainly wouldn't ether if it was my sister, but you have to let her make her own disitions or its gonna push her away more. "

Dalton let out a small sigh his breath a little heavy, and hurting with ever breath he took, but he couldn't help his own heart hurt a little more.

"I know you don't think I understand, and maybe I don't but I am worried about because I care. Your like a brother to me and I hate seeing you hurt so much. I wish I could take away all your pain for you."

Taking some bandages from the shelf Dalton wraps Scott's hands at least still the bleeding on his knuckles would stop. Placing an arm about Scott's shoulders Dalton leads him from the room.

"Would you please consider just talking with Hope? No counseling session just talking to her for me?"

Severity

Gage receives Sapphire's hand, still confused, his worry lingering. Then noticing her red eyes, his pulse quickens. What was going on?

Finally hearing her words, his heart gives a little lurch. For her to come all the way out here and quit work for the day, it had to be an awfully big deal.  "Oh..." His fingers tighten around hers and for the first time, the tables were turned. It was his responsibility now for the support and comfort. And though it was a foreign feeling, there was an aspect of it that gave him a little sense of joy, knowing that Sapphire felt she could come to him for support. At the same time though, his spirits sank.

"I'm sorry..." It was obvious what the argument had been about. Moving his gaze to the window, he glares at the scenery before calming down to offer Sapphire a softer look. "If it wasn't for me, none of this would be happening."

Seeing the park up ahead, Gage points. "Pull over here," he directs.

Once parked, he unbuckles and turns in his seat, reaching over to cup Sapphire's face so she would look him straight on. "I am sorry," he apologizes again. "I don't want to come between you and your brother. The last thing I want is to be the source of a feud. I... I care enough about you that... if you'll be happier without being involved with me then... I'll let go."

His eyes search hers with genuine concern and care. "I don't want to, because you're my only friend, but I'll do it if it means you'll be happier and you'll be okay with your brother."

Accepting Dalton's help up, Scott follows numbly to the nearby bathroom. He winces as his knuckles are cleaned, having had no idea he'd been harming himself. "I... I don't know. I just... Sapphire's mad at me and she was all over me for going after Gage and she cornered me and, and..."

He watches the red-stained water swirl down the drain. "...I just snapped. I needed something to hit 'cause I was so angry at my sister for going with a guy who'd been so involved in a place that stole my life."

It sounded selfish... but it's what he felt. It felt like a form of betrayal to him. "I want to kill them, Dalton..." The severity of his words echo in the bathroom. "I can't seem to stop."

Comfort

Not paying any mind to the grumbling of the office Sapphire continues to stand with her arms crossed watching what he was doing closely. Taking the note pad from the officer Sapphire signs her name quickly before returning it to him.

As Officer Finkleton calls for Gage Sapphire turns just a little bit watching him, and the other men. Keeping her professional air in check. Watching Gage as he came up the hill she simply kept her arms folded untill she finally took the paper from the officer.

"Thank you Officer for you time. If the Elite needs anything further we will be in touch. Come on Pelzer lets go."

Sapphire hates calling Gage by just his last name but she had to in this situation. It was the only way to get him out of his work, and if she didn't stay professional than it never would of worked. Walking behind Gage to the car Sapphire waits for him to get in before going around to the driver side and getting in. Starting the car up Sapphire pulls away letting Gage's question go unanswered for a moment.

Finally getting far enough away the cop couldn't see the care anymore Sapphire reaches up with her one hand and moves her sunglasses to the top of her head revealing her red puffy eyes that shown sure signs she had been crying. Reaching over she takes Gage's hand in her own locking the fingers, not minding at all that they were wet from sweat. Finally she lets out a sigh, She needed to answer Gage before he became to worried.

"My brother and I got into it pretty good today. First time ever, I was just so upset with him and I wasn't going to let him talk about you that way. "

Glancing at Gage in the passenger side of her car Sapphire gives a small smile letting him know, she was ok, and everything would be ok but she just needed him.

"I just wanted to be with you right now, spend the rest of the day with you. That is...if you would like to. I guess today I am asking you for comfort."

Squinting his eyes a little bit and hiding the bit of pain her felt Dalton wouldn't let it show. Scott felt bad enough without knowing he was to badly hurt. A trip to Rick and he would be fine again.

"You sure do pack a punch for a little guy I'll tell you that much. I am ok though. Its ok its ok, you can stop saying sorry. Come on lets clean those knuckles up."

Helping his friend up Dalton winced just a little but didn't draw attachen to it as he lead Scott into the bathroom. Getting some soap and a cloth to clean his knuckled off Dalton study's his friend for a long moment.

"What happened that got you so upset?"

Worried

Not even hearing his name being called, Scott's mind was going a hundred different directions at once and some of the things he was seeing didn't even make sense. Feeling a hand on his shoulder sets off inner alarms as panic takes hold. Scott whirls around, fists flying, not caring who it was. Being put in a bear hug from behind, he screams and kicks until everything turns upside down and he lands hard on top of his big adversary.

Breathing heavily, the jolt is enough to knock a sense of reality into him and he blinks, trying to catch his breath as his muscles begin to relax. Dalton? Dalton.... "Oh, dang."

Rolling over to his hands and knees, Scott gives Dalton room on the floor. "I'm... I'm sorry." His heart was still racing, his breathing still rapid. "I... I... I just... it all..." He felt terrible for taking down his friend like that. "I'm sorry," he repeats lamely.

Sinking back to sit on the floor, he doesn't even notice the damage he's done to his own hands. "I just got so.... so mad and... I couldn't stop. Are you ok?" Though now worried about Dalton too, his mind was still reeling. Everything from his anger to the Agency to Sapphire... it was all one muddled mess now.

Officer Bartholomew Finkleton turns and squints at Sapphire skeptically, studying her badge a moment. "Alright." He sighs, shrugging at her request. "They keep taking my men, then the job will just take longer," he mumbles.

Searching himself for some papers, he fishes a notepad out of his pocket and jots down some information, muttering as he writes. "Johnson.... Elite..."

While he's conversing with her, the line of men continue their work in the ditch, clearing out a long row of bushes that had become an eyesore. Though it was a halfway chilly day, all men had shed their jackets once the hard work had started, and not one wasn't sweating.

Bartholomew hands the note to Sapphire to sign and turns around to the men. He gives a shrill whistle then a shout. "Pelzer! Up here, on the double! Come on!"

Gage had just managed to yank a portion of bush up from the ground, sending earth everywhere. Whirling around as his name is called, he squints to the road, spying Sapphire. His heart stops for a moment. She never came to him while he was working. Was something wrong? Not wasting any time, he leaves his work, ignoring the teasing jeers from the other men.

Climbing up out of the ditch, his clothes were dirty and sweaty and he wipes his brow with his arm, taking his gloves off. Though he wanted to immediately find out what was wrong, he knew he needed to find out from the officer first what was going on. "Yes sir?"

"Officer Johnson here needs to take you in for some questioning. I'm releasing you for the rest of the day." Bartholomew rips loose a copy of the signed paper and hands it back to Sapphire.

Gage nods numbly. "Okay." Questioning? Now he really wanted to know what was going on. Following Sapphire to her car and sliding in the passenger side, he waits until they're in before tossing out any questions. "Saph... what's going on? What happened?"

2/6/10

HAHAHA..:x

Sitting at his desk Dalton pulls up another text message file he had gotten from Sprint on Bree's parents phone. He'd hit the jackpot with this one and new it would come in handy. Totally lost in though Dalton gives a jump as the office door slams open and than shut again. Not having expected Scott back so soon. Snapping his head up his eyes filled with question from the look on his friends face. Something defiantly was not right.

About to say something Dalton stops again as Scott gets up one more time and leaves the room. Looking around fast Dalton takes note that his jacket was still there so it was obvious that he wasn't leaving again. Maybe he went to the bathroom or to grab a file. Dalton didnt like the feeling he had in his gut but waited.

As the minutes ticked by Dalton couldn't help but keep looking at the clock taking note that Scott was gone. Finally standing from his desk Dalton exits and looks up and down the hall. Listing closly for a moment Dalton thinks he might of heard something but it came from down below...from the....

...Who ever said big guys couldn't run were wrong, Dalton had opted to take the stairs and not the elevator it was quicker. Now coming to the room where the light was on Dalton caught his breath as he looked in and watch Scott for only a moment. Seeing his knuckles turn read, and that there was pain etched on his face Dalton hoped Scott would stop but seeing he wasn't Dalton couldn't stand there any longer. Opening the door and stepping in Dalton closed it again behind him.

"Scott..."

No answer Dalton let his voice boom a little more.

"Scott....Scott.."

Still no answer Dalton stepped up to his small friend and put a hand on his shoulder in case he hasnt heard him to let them know he was there.

"Scott...thats enough."

Still nothing but seeing the glazed look in Scott's eyes Dalton could tell he was in a different zone. Not being quick enough as his heart ached a strong blow came to the side of Dalton's face, and than again to his jaw. Stumbling back a little bit Dalton gave a shake of his head before looking up again, this time blocking Scott's punch. Dalton didnt want to hurt him so he was as gentil as he could be, wrapping his strong arms around Scott and holding his arms down.

"Scott, stop...Scott."

As Scott fraught his strength Dalton took a few steps backwards but stumbled on his own big feet. Falling he slams into the wall with a crash and slides to the floor his arms still around his friend. Forgetting his own pain that corsed through his side, more than likly a broken rib, and the pain in his face Dalton still held Scott.

"Scott its me...its Dalton...please stop...stop hurting yourself. Come on buddy its me."

Flicking the tears from her eyes Sapphire pulls up to the area where she new Gage was working today. She needed some company, and better yet she just wanted to go but had to make sure Gage was safe.

Turning the car off Sapphire gets out straightening her shirt out and backhand whipping the tears from her eyes. Reaching back into the car Sapphire grabs her sun glasses and slaps them on. Shutting the door she scans the side of the road where the inmates and other juveniles were working before he see Gage.

Taking sight of the only officer there Sapphire makes her line twords him. He was an odd looking fellow, quite fat, gray hair but certainly did fit this position. Taking out her Elite badge Sapphire clears her throat.

"Excuse me Officer..."

Sapphire quints at the name on the badge.

"...Finkleton. My name is Sapphire Johnson I am an office with The Elite, and Gage Pelzer is in my care when he is not here. I need to take my Pelzer with me for some questioning on a recent discovery that has come up. I will be more than happy to sigh anything you need me to, to be able to take him, Or I can let you call my head and talk to him, but I doubt he would be to happy about that."

Sapphire stood talking to the office the sun gleaming off her hair, her arms folded across her chest once her badge was shown to the officer.

Fighting

Having Sapphire push him up against the wall, Scott cringes, flinching at her quick movements. Cornered with nowhere to go, he glares into her eyes, panic bubbling beneath the surface as a flashback tried to worm its way into his mind. But anger remained at the top, controlling any other feelings that raged through his veins.

Sapphire's words stung like daggers, but he doesn't move or try to respond. It didn't matter - she had taken control of the situation and wouldn't let him talk anyway.

Watching her walk away, Scott almost yells after her, but he knows there are other people here too - it wasn't just the two of them, and he didn't want to cause any more of a scene than they already had.

Hot tears well behind his eyes as he fumbles for his billfold, throwing money on the table for a meal hardly touched. Then it was his turn to leave. Getting in his car, he doesn't think twice about going back to TJY. He wouldn't let this thing beat him. He wouldn't. He had a life to live and it wasn't going to come to a screeching halt just because his sister was getting involved with a scumbag like Gage.

Parking and going inside, Scott doesn't even see the other people around him. He makes a beeline for his office, finding Dalton still there - probably never having moved. Scott hadn't been gone all that long.

Taking his jacket off, he throws it in the corner and flops down in his chair a little harder than usual, a scowl on his face. He doesn't even greet his big friend, but stares at his blank computer screen. A tear runs down the side of his cheek as his mind replays Sapphire's actions.

Ignoring Dalton's presence altogether, he gets to his  feet again, this time heading downstairs and to the rec room. Glad no one else was down there, he turns on one corner light just enough to navigate around the equipment. Bumping up against a punching bag, he doesn't hesitate before throwing his fist at it. And it felt good. Not bothering with gloves, Scott throws another punch and another, first a right, then a left, blinded by lack of sight and by a few more tears that clouded his vision.

No one would hear him crying out behind the closed door as sweat started to run down his face. Another swing, and another came until his knuckles were battered and bloodied, but he didn't stop. All his eyes saw were Agency men. He was fighting them.. fighting the room... fighting the torture... fighting himself.

Fire

Sapphire couldn't take it, and maybe she had enough, maybe she was tired of being told what to do and watching those who had no voice of there own get bulled but whatever it was it raged and her brother was the target because of his own words and actions.

Not training with the Elite to be out in the field Sapphire could still move like the rest and observing everyone else around her while they trained she had picked up a thing or two. Before anyone could even blink Sapphire was up and over in the booth next to Scott pushed up against the wall, her eyes blazed red showing she wasn't messing around.

"You bother taking anything up with Gage again, I'll have a restraining order on you so fast it will make you head spin little brother. As for the Agency is concerned you even merer a word to them where Gage is than you have have it on YOUR shoulders that you signed you own sister death warrant because they will have to get through me to get to him."

Sapphire's eyes pierced through Scotts, seeing his own anger so strong it mingled with her own. It was a bad combo and though she loved her brother never ending but she was hurt and felt betrayed that her own brother didn't trust her.

"You wanna break mom's heart for not coming over for Christmas than fine, but I hope you get over it quick and stop being childish for her sake."

Finished with this conversation Sapphire could feel the hot tears burn in her eyes as she exits the booth. Sitting there longer would make things worse and she didnt want to have this display while there were kids around. She said what she needed to, and that was it.

Exiting she doesn't look back but gets into her care letting the engine run for a moment before bulling out of the parking lot the tears streaming from her eyes. Work was not her destination, she didn't want to go back there, not yet.

Bitterness

Scott's folded hands tighten, his knuckles starting to turn white. All the while, he holds a steady gaze, the anger and hate flooding his veins. It wasn't his sister he was so angry with, but Gage himself. Yet at the same time, she was defending him... she was defending a man who had been a part of the place that had ripped Scott's life from him once. How could she take Gage's side like that?

"I'll take up with Gage whatever I want to take up with him," he replies coolly. "If he can't handle it, then he's less of a man than even I thought. You go right on defending him. Date him. Go ahead. But count me out."

Emotions boil in Scott's eyes. He and Sapphire had had some rough years but they'd never really argued. Until now. And this was an argument held at bay only because they were in public.

"You follow him, he'll lead you straight to the Agency. Have it your way. But don't expect me just to stand back and watch. You leave alone what's between him and me - it's none of your business. As far as any social interaction is concerned though, I'll just tell you right now that if he's involved, I'm not going to be there."

Was he talking about Christmas? Social events? Double dates? It didn't matter. Scott was talking about all of it, and his tone made it clear that he was serious. It was him or Gage at this point, and he wasn't backing down. "If he knows what's good for him, he'll leave you alone."

Me, not Him

Seeing the look in Scott's eyes and hearing his words only made Sapphire anger rage on even more. She was hurt, and she couldn't stand what her brother had done. Didn't he remember when he had been roughed up right inside TJY, how many people stood for him when they thought HE was a bad guy.

"I stand for a man who has no voice, because he has no friends yet he wants to change his life. I'm his only friend, and he's the only one I got. I'm not going to back down on this, and I will follow him where he goes because I promised I would protect him and along the way, I saw who he really was. And it isn't what you cant see past."

Moving her chicken away from her and just leaving her drink Sapphire felt so sick to her stomach. Everything had turned so wrong so fast. She had found someone she cared about, Her relationship with her parents were getting better and her Baby brother and herself were getting along. Now...now it was on the brink of breaking all over again. Shifting a little Sapphire moves to the edge of the booth ready to get up, she really had nothing else to say seeing as Scott really wouldn't listen much. Not to mention she was going to snap if she stayed any longer. It wasn't often Sapphire got angry to where she wanted to yell, and she really didnt want to do it now.

"Gage us bit the enemy here Scott. He will continue to be a part of my life, and if you have a problem with that than you can deal with me, not him."

Point

Hearing Sapphire's words, Scott shouldn't have been surprised, but it still sent a lurch through his gut. Thoughts of yesterday came shooting back through his mind.

"I don't care what you think or what you feel, but nothing you do can make me trust you." Scott's eyes had been glaring at Gage, who surprisingly sat cowering in the passenger seat. "I don't care if the Agency is after you, or the law. You drop whatever it is with Sapphire and you do it quick. I can handle the others from the Agency, but they're not the ones trying to date my sister. Being with her only puts her in danger, so if you care at all, you'll walk away. And if you don't... so help me, I'll make you."

Scott's fingers continue to work at his napkin and he stares back at Sapphire, his own gaze growing cold. "If you don't know what I said, then obviously you weren't intended to hear." He tosses the napkin aside and folds his hands. "Apparently you know how I feel though, so I really see no purpose in having this conversation... unless you have a point to all this."

Everyone

Waiting in the booth Sapphire nibbled on a chicken nugget, and a mountain dew sat off the the right side. She really didn't feel hungry or like eating anything but if they were going to meet her she might as well pay them something.

Watching as her brother slides into the booth across from her no smile forms on her face. Her eyes seemed mad of ice, and cracks that were riddled in it as her her had been broken by the one person she trusted enough to help Gage. Looking out the window Sapphire doesn't look at Scott, as for the moment her voice was calm.

"What did you say to him Scott? What did you say that made him so scared that everything we worked on over the last months went up in smoke and why? He was rebuilding his life, he was starting over and turning from his ways. I trusted you, I trusted you Scott, my brother my twin."

Turning to look at her brother in the eyes head on Sapphire gave a shake of her head. She didnt understand why her brother would do this. Was it because of Gage's past? Was it simply because he believe sister could do better?
"Everyone deserves a second chance."

Sinking feeling

Catching the tail end of Sapphire's conversation, Scott feels an odd church in his stomach. Something definitely didn't seem right. After yesterday, he would have assumed Gage would have cut things off with Sapphire, not set up another date. Scott holds his tongue for now though. He'd find out later.

But seeing a strange coldness in his sister's eyes, he wonders if what had happened really had an impact. And now she wanted to do lunch with him?

Scott cocks his head, squinting slightly. "Lunch?" They never went out to lunch. "I'd ask what the occasion is but..." He lets his sentence trail off as an awkwardness settles over him. "Uh, yeah... okay. I don't have any plans other than a nap so... I'll see you at noon."

Tapping the top of the cubicle wall, he heads off, not leaving much more room for conversation. Getting to his office, he bids Dalton a quick good morning, but remains more quiet than normal, downing a can of Mountain Dew as the second half of his breakfast. Focusing on the tasks at hand, Scott doesn't get up from his chair again until he sees the clock reads noon. His stomach had been growling for an hour and he'd been ignoring it, but it looked like he didn't have much of a choice now. He just had this sinking feeling...

"Catch you later, Hulk." He waves to his friend as he leaves the office. "If you hear an explosion..." He pauses then shakes his head. "Never mind. Hold the fort."

It didn't take long to leave TJY in two vehicles and meet up at the little fast food joint. Scott usually ordered a hamburger and shake, but today he postponed ordering for a few minutes. Sliding in the booth across from Sapphire, he fidgets with a napkin.

"So.... what's up?"

Times

Once Scott leaves Dalton gives a shake of his head and lets out a heavy sigh. What could he do? Scott didn't want help now, He'd just about given up again letting the anger drive and control him. Dalton was worried but what could he do?

Grabbing his phone from his desk he hold it for a long moment, just turning it in his hand, over and over again. Would it be smart? If Scott found out would he be upset? Dalton could only reassure himself that if Scott was upset that latter he he could understand Dalton was only worried and trying to protect his little friend. Punching in the numbers on the phone Dalton brings it to his eat and waits till he hears the friendly voice on the other end.

"Hey its Dalton...I need to talk to you about Scott..."

And the moon comes up casting its glow those that wish. The light stretching from one street to the next. Flowing over houses and trees trying to light all the dark. But Night...night is not meant for than and soon the sun will be up to finish the moons job. Chasing the shadows, and creating new ones. Even if some heart had no will for light, it would still come, it would still enter.

Sitting behind her desk Sapphire new she would get Gage's voice mail as he was probably in the shower right now getting ready for his community service. She hadn't wanted to come into work today knowing she would see Scott, at a time like this she wished they didn't work together. But she had to be here, and whatever happen with Scott happened.

"Hey Gage is just me. I wanted to call and wish you a Good Morning before you started your day. I hope it turns into a good one and about 5 I'll see you back at your place so we can go get our hair cuts, and some nice cloths for Christmas...."

Looking up and seeing Scott on the other side of the wall Sapphire's eyes seemed to turn just a little bit cold, yet a flame seemed to flicker. It reason, or destination was masked but it was there. Just seeing her brother brought back the previous night with Gage.

"...I'll see ya at 5. Try and have a good one. Later."

Hanging up the phone Sapphire looks up at her brother again and gives a nod of her head but didn't offer a good morning back. Finally looking back her all the paper work on her desk Sapphire sighs. If she opened her mouth she was scared of what might come out, but she had to. She had to say something, she didn't want to fight here at work.

"Let do lunch today Scott about 12. I have something I need to talk to you about."

Morning

Scott finishes shutting down his computer, not acting like he was listening to Dalton, though he was. He just felt so confused right now, he didn't know what to do or believe.

Grabbing his jacket, he makes it all the way to the door before stopping and turning back around. "I've already been ripped apart. And I'm tired of needing Hope as a counselor. She can't fix what's wrong with me - nobody can. It's like a bad computer virus, 'cept my hard drive can't be wiped clean. I'm stuck with the bad and I gotta figure out how to live with it. If anybody's got a problem with it, they can take it up with the Agency."

Shaking his head a little, he exits the office without saying anymore, slowly heading outside. It was just as well he and Hope had no plans tonight... he still had a headache and it was worse now. He just wanted to go curl up with Domino and go to bed.

The sun waits for no one, not even those wishing it wouldn't yet come. But even after a fun evening and a good night sleep, Gage had to pull himself out of bed for another day of service. He'd had a much better evening with Sapphire than he'd thought he would after what had happened with Scott. Just sitting and talking, then falling asleep through a movie... it was simple but warm and comfortable. And it was something Gage wasn't ready to trade.

"...you do, and you'll regret it."

Gage pulls on his jeans, recalling Scott's cold words to him as they'd sat in the car.

"You drop that relationship with my sister or so help me, I'll call the Agency in on you and they can have you."

Would he? Gage knew that by staying with Sapphire, he was calling Scott's bluff... but was it a bluff? The night before, Gage had soaked up confidence from Sapphire. But this morning, the doubts were back.

On the other side of town, Scott didn't want the sun to come either. He'd had nightmares all night and had gotten maybe an hour's worth of sleep. But Reese was in no mood to accept him calling in. So it was up and to work, faking a smile to anybody he met. He was fine... just fine. He just needed to make it through another day and hope all these feelings went away. He just needed to wait them out.

Making it to TJY, he downs the rest of his coffee before getting out of his car. Yawning, he shakes his head to get out the cobwebs and he heads inside. He needed to finish up what he'd dropped last night when he'd left the office.

Once inside, it's down the elevator and onto the main floor. Taking the short route through cubicles, he greets some of his coworkers, passing by Sapphire's desk as well. Peeking over her cubicle wall, he gives her a little wave like he usually does. His smile was tired, but it was there. "Mornin'."

Exspecting

Letting out a long sigh Dalton sits back in his chair picking up the pen that was laying by some papers he had been writing on. Tapping the pen absentmindly his his hand Dalton's heart ached.

"I know I dont know whats it like completely, but I do know what hate feels like..and seeing people that remind you of something you'd rather keep here."

Only some people would know Dalton was talking about his own past. His parents, the fire, his scares and the way people use to pick on him. It was MUCH different from what Scott was dealing with, but at the same time it was greatly the same. He just wanted his friend to know he wasnt alone.

"Scott, if things don't get better will you talk to Hope? I just, I don't want to see this anger rip you apart. You have to many people that care about you for that to happen....ok?"

Dalton's eyes showed great concern for his friend. He loved him like a little brother he always wanted, and he'd never want anything to happen to him. Friend, partner in crime, they challenged each other minds, Dalton had met someone like himself and taken to him greatly. Losing that, would cut a wound so deep to match the others, and Dalton could do without that, he needed his friend.

Ask Gage returned Sapphire hug, she gave a small soft humm...letting him know she liked it. Feeling wanted, and also taking care of another it was a good feeling only that she enjoyed. They both shared the weight, comforting one another and being there for the other. Sapphire had always felt alone since high school, even when others were around, she just didn't fit. But with Gage, he didn't care she dressed a little different, or the blue streaks she had in her hair sometimes. He saw her for more than just looks.

"My brother, can stick it. If he cant see that I am happy being around you, than he needs to open his eyes a little wider. I love him to death but...."

Sapphire runs her hand thought Gage's unruly hair straightening it out in a few places, her eyes locking with his deep green eyes, endless pools that captured his soul.

"...He can't just go around treating every friend I have he doesn't like."

Sighing a small little sigh as Gage takes her hand Sapphire looks down at there fingers locked together for a long moment before finally looking back up at Gage again. Giving a smile as his questions her eyes twinkle as she gives a nod.

"Yes, you can still come with me on Christmas. My parents are already expecting you, and excited to meet the guy I have been talking about a lot. I'm happy you still want to come with me."

So angry

Gage didn't know if he would ever understand where Sapphire's words and compassion came from. She had told him a lot about God - was that it? Or was it just her, the heart she had and simple care that kept her from sacrificing what she felt was right?

To think that she would take such a risk on him... it was humbling. But it was also a warm feeling that filled Gage like nothing else ever had. He loved spending time with Sapphire, he liked being her friend, he enjoyed having her over, he missed their time together on days they didn't see each other, he always looked forward to some cuddle time in front of the tv with a good movie... she was his only friend. He was on the brink of losing her because of her brother. She wasn't going to let it interfere. Was he?

Drawn into her embrace, his arms slide tighter around her, burying his face in her shoulder, half holding her and half being held. It proved what he felt on the inside - he needed the comfort, yet he also wanted to be strong enough to support her too.

After a few moments, he finally lifts his head, sighing a little. "Your brother won't be happy," he muses quietly. He hadn't intended on telling Sapphire who had started him down a different path, but she'd already figured it out on her own anyway. "He... loves you and doesn't want to see you get hurt. I guess if.... if I had a sister and she was going out with someone like me, I might..."

Drawing Sapphire back so he could see her eyes, he reaches up to comb down the side of her hair. "...I might be upset too."

Gage moves one hand to find hers again, never tiring of locking their fingers. "But... thank you... for believing in me anyway. I'll do my best not to let you down."

He pauses, question flickering in his eyes. "Even if... if Scott is upset, do you think that... I can still come with you to your parents?" He might not have said so, but even though nervous, he'd been looking forward to it - doing something different and meeting more people that Sapphire said he could trust.

Scott chews on the inside of his lip as Dalton talks. He knew in his head what his friend was saying was true. He knew that the people here now like Phinox and Carson... they weren't Agency anymore and they had made a true change. He knew Dalton was right about them. But this anger... this hate... it had started slow and had simmered until it had hit the boiling point. And now he didn't know how to douse the fire.
"All the logic in the world doesn't take away my hate," he mutters. "You don't know what it's like. I know Carson isn't a bad guy anymore but it doesn't matter. When I see him, it all comes back... all the information... everything. All his case files, all the names of people he went after. Everything. Even Jamie. It was all on file before my assimilation."

Lowering the ice pack, he stares at it, not caring that it was numbing his fingers. "Oh, I pretend that I'm fine around him... I call him a friend... and it's true. But it all comes back. I can't help it, Dalton. And as far as my sister is concerned... it's not Carson that's trying to date her. It's Gage - an Agency baby. And I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. I know she's got a mind of her own, but I don't much care."

Scott's tone had become colder... harder. "Thirteen and Ryder is different. Thirteen's clueless about life. Gage is a killer. I'll be hanged if he weasels his way into my family... and I told him as much."

Getting to his feet, he returns the ice pack to the small refrigerator. "It's just not that simple, Dalton." Reaching down, he starts to shut down his computer, even though his work wasn't done. "I'm going home."

Two side, Two people, Two looking for comfort.

Feeling that Gage had returned the kiss Sapphire was happy. It only confirmed what she already new than in no way did Gage himself want to really let her go. She enjoyed every moment spent with Gage, and never did she think twice about his past or what could come. To her, Gage was her friend and maybe even more, his past erased, and starting new now was who he was.

As Gage pulls away Sapphire leans her head into his hand as she study's his eyes. There color, there hope, so much life layed beyond the first layer. His words that formed on his lips, they just sounded so nice. To have someone talk about her like that it really made her feel good inside.

"No matter what anyone says Gage, you bring no shame to me and I am not ashamed of you. What you bring is happiness, and a smile to my face. It makes me feel good knowing I have a key to your apartment, and that I can come and see you. Spending my time with someone else and not alone is a nice gift to give someone."

Sapphire takes one of Gage's hands in her own locking her fingers with his. She had held his hand many times before and every time seemed like a new one.

"Don't ever let go Gage, you have so much to offer to the world, to me. You special, and I love being able to learn new things right along side you."

Sapphire still felt angry twords her brother but her words to Gage seemed to soften as a smile made its way across her face, her eyes softing. She would talk to her brother later, for now she wanted to enjoy her time with Gage. Leaning in to him again she wraps her arms around Gage's neck giving him a hug.

"We'll take on the world together. That way we don't have to face anything alone."

As Scott continues to talk Dalton just eyes him sympathy in them. His arms still on his knees as he leans forward. Scott's anger it was not normal for him, but it was normal for the situation. Dalton couldn't say he didn't blame him ether. The past was the past sure, but it wasnt always that easy to put behind and leave it there.

"I dislike them to Scott. Very much so and the more I am in TJY and the more pain I see they cause the more the feeling grows. But we also have to remember that God gives everyone a second chance. Alec, Carson, Phinox, Gage...God put them in our care for a reason and who are we to judge them. They arnt part of the Agency anymore. Carson and Phinox they turned there life around and though there past will never be gone but they have made amends and are trying."

Dalton lets out a small sigh, it was hard to encourage Scott when he new he'd be the same way. He just wanted to help his friend, and be there for him...he wish he had a power to wave his hand and make everything better, but he didn't. Watching his small friend suffer was something that could bring this Hulk crumbling.

"I am sure a lot of those who get out of the agency all of them feel a part of there life is gone. Something that can never be replace, and knowing the Agency had there hold on you, knowing once you were a part of them...its a hard burden to bear. But Scott its not a burden you have a bear alone, you have me, and Hope. You have so many friends and we are all willing to do what we can as long as you let us. As for Sapphire, she's a strong woman with a good head on her shoulders. I am sure she knows what she is doing, and can care for herself. She wanted to help Gage, it was her chooses just like Ryder is helping Thirteen. She will be thankful for your concern, but just remember she has her own mind too. ok?"
