Awkwardness

As Karla starts to cry and explain, Erik's shoulders drop. His expression softening, he approaches the bed and sits down at the foot, sighing deeply. "I'm sorry," he apologizes. "I didn't mean to jump on you guys like that."

By now, Kip's face is bright red, having been reminded of his past lapse in judgment, in front of Karla no less. He wanted to retort that Erik did mean to, but he holds his tongue this time. Instead, all he shares is a glare.

Erik purses his lips, genuinely sorry and he pats Karla's leg. "I'm sorry about what happened last night, too. Anything you need, you just say so."

Back on his feet, he looks to Kip. "We're headed to Theo's. You can stay here... make sure Karla gets take care of, alright?"

Kip nods. "I will." Watching Erik leave, he swallows hard, trying to get over his embarrassment. Turning his head a little so he can see a bit of Karla's face, he pull her hair back out of the way. "I'm sorry," he mentions quietly. "You okay?"

David enters the office and sets down his briefcase, taking up the chair Angelica offers. "What? Pass up working with you for a tour? Never." He grins. "Well, at least until we need a break. Then you can show me all around."

A knock comes to the door then opens, interrupting their conversation. Reese is looking down at some papers in his hands, not even noticing that Angelica isn't alone. "Hey, Angelica... I was going over those reports and I..." As his eyes move upward, he suddenly realizes that David is present. "Oh... I'm sorry. I didn't realize you had company."

David recognizes Reese immediately, and if one looked closely, they might see the hairs on his neck stand up. But a smile is on his face anyway. "Company? Hardly. I think we've met before."

"I think we have." Reese curls the papers in his hand as an awkward silence follows. He glances to Angelica, trying to remember what it was he was going to say. "Um... yeah. We still on for supper tonight?"

David quirks an eyebrow and looks between Angelica and Reese, waiting to see if Angelica would really sacrifice prime investigation time to go out to dinner with her boss.
