Smiling up at Bret and him a returned kiss to the lips Charlotte looks down on the small on in her arms again. It was amazing how small he was and how big her love could be for him already.
"Mmm..while I feed him can you call Angelica for me? If I we don't she'll have both our heads."
Charlotte was so happy, her eyes so bright and full of love. For her child and for her husband. They were going to be great parents, maybe a little different, but great non the less she just new it.
Heading up the sidewalk like she had so many days before Beth makes her way to see her sister. Today though something was different. Her eyes were still tired, and sunken in a little but there seemed to be a little spring in her step. Today she had something new to look forward to and it felt nice.
Seeing Justin sitting on the bench Beth new he would be there and seeing the Dog's with him today Beth gives a small smile. Stopping at the dogs first she lets them sniff her hand before scratching there ears and patting there heads.
"Hey there girls."
Standing up Beth gives a nod to Justin before coming around and sitting down next to him. Sitting a little straighter today.
"Good Morning. I think its....going...to be a nice day for fishing. Are you still going?"
Hearing her phone go off Ryan stops her work on the car and whips her hands off on a rag before going into her pockets and pulling out her phone. Giving a grin at the message she hits reply.
I'll miss the lotion too. Yeah I'll be at the races tonight. Come early and you can catch a ride with me.

Races
Bret sits in the chair and leans on the short railing of the hospital bed, looking down into the eyes of his new son. Running a finger down the face so small, his smile can't be wiped away.
He looks at Charlotte, his own eyes glistening. "Yeah... yeah, he is perfect." Glancing down again into Nicholas' eyes, he nods. "You sure are. I could never have asked for more."
Rising up out of the chair for just a moment, Bret leans over and down to kiss Charlotte's forehead. "I'm so proud of you. You did great."
Justin nods to Beth, letting her stand first before he rises too. "You have a good night too, Beth. Drive safe."
Following her outside, he watches her get into her car and just leans on the tailgate of his pickup as she drives away, watching as her taillights disappear down the road. Sighing deeply, Justin glances up to the night sky, looking at the stars as far as he can. Was he doing the right thing? He hoped so.
Finally he gets into his truck and heads home himself where he would be up yet another couple hours...
...Heading down the sidewalk, Justin keeps Danitza and Zora at his heel, his backpack slung over one shoulder. It was the same routine, same location, same purpose. While he sometimes grew weary of this kind of job, knowing what was coming was nice every once in a while. Though there were still a few things he couldn't predict.
Early for Scott, Justin heads for the familiar bench, easing down to sit for a few minutes. It was going to be a hot day, but right now it wasn't too bad and there was a slight breeze that kept it nice enough.
The two dogs obediently lie down beside the bench, waiting further instructions from their master.
Carson wanders down the hall of TJY, needing to ask Misty about a bill needing to be paid. He'd forgotten it at the restaurant the day before and now it couldn't wait, so he'd left "the girls" in charge for a while.
Almost to the infirmary, he spots the one person he didn't want to see.
Alec is coming up from the lower level to get some breakfast and spots Carson at the same time, meeting him near the infirmary door. Lifting one eyebrow, he folds his arms across his chest. "Hey, bro. Long time no see."
Carson's eyes narrow. "Not long enough. I heard they let you walk around loose - I didn't think they were that stupid."
Alec tsks, shaking his head. "Don't call Reese stupid. He might not let you work here anymore."
"Naw, there are days he needs me. You, on the other hand, seem to be a reoccurring parasite."
"Ouch. I'm hurt. Really."
Carson rolls his eyes. "Just stay out of my way."
"Hey I was just on my way for food. Got a problem with that, call it in to the big boss."
Carson opens his mouth to retaliate, then just shakes his head. Turning, he goes into the infirmary.
Alec stands for a moment, staring at the closed door. Why the encounter bothered him, he wasn't sure. But trying to push it aside, he heads for the break room. Grabbing a can of pop, he flops down at the table, and takes out his cell phone.
Morning. Sunburn better but Ill miss the lotion. Races tonight? I could sneak out for a while.
Leo sighs and pushes aside his bowl of cold cereal. He felt better than the day before as most traces of his hangover were over, but his mood hadn't lightened much. He wasn't even all that sure just what it was that was bothering him. Or maybe he just didn't want to think about it.
Glancing up to the calendar on the wall, he notes the day. There were races tonight. Maybe he should just go and hang out for a while... do something different.

Perfect with life!
Finishing off the rest of her coffee Beth looks into the empty cup. She was feeling a little better. Not a alone, and a new light to look forward too.
"Yeah I think I will be ok now. Thanks a lot Justin, I needed this tonight."
Give her coffee one last shake to get everything out Beth gives a nod with her head. She was ready now and all her drink was gone. Standing and crumpling the cup up She walks over to the small trash can before coming back to the table once again.
"Have a good night Justin. I'll see you tomorrow."
Scarlet can feel the color come to her face at Eli's comment to her looking perfect. As he slips his hemit on Scarlet gives a wave of her own watching him drive down the street. Once he was gone she turns and heads back to the apartment. Picking up her paper work along the way so she could get ready for tonight.
And in the silents a sing baby crys. The sound bringing joy to the new parents ears. The tiny baby being wrapped in a blanket and places in the new parents arms. The little eyes looking up at them, and the soft cooing music to there ears.
Looking down at there new baby Charlotte smiles so big. Tear filled her eyes but not from pain, but from joy. This was there little baby boy, there joy.
"He's beautiful. Nicholas Aaron Parker! He's perfect."
Looking up at Bret again Charlotte's eyes twinkle so happy. There baby boy was so small, so cute and his eyes so bright for just being born. Everything was perfect with life at the moment.

Limit
"Okay." Justin smiles again and finishes off his coffee. Yes, Beth had taken a step forward tonight. Things hadn't turned out like he'd originally thought, but again he wondered if maybe this was the reason for it all.
Cocking his head a bit, he studies Beth's face for a moment. Though she had needed someone tonight, there was still a limit for more than one reason. "It's getting late... you gonna be okay now?"
Eli smiles up at Scarlet as she stands, and he slides back down into the seat. "I'll be back here at seven. But don't try to clean up too much... you already look perfect."
Giving her a sly wink, he dons his jacket again and starts up the engine. Slipping on his helmet, his face is hidden. Saluting his farewell, he backs from the space and heads out of the parking lot, speeding down the street.

Maybe
Hearing Justin would spend time with her put another pang in her head and made her feel warm. It was strange thinking about spending time with someone and moving away from what she normally did, but in a way it felt kind of nice too.
"Fishing tomorrow sounds like a good start. In the morning I'll come....see Sarah and than we can meet here and I can follow you again if you want."
Maybe this time she'd try to fish herself too. If not though she'd love to play with the dogs once more. She liked Justin's dogs, they were fun, and soft. Tomorrow might be a good day at least it was a start.
Keeping her arms around Eli still Scarlet lets her one hand slide back to his head and through his hair. It felt so nice, soft, and Scarlet just enjoyed running her fingers through it.
"I think that sounds perfect. Mom and Pop's would be perfect, maybe afterward we can go visit Jimmy. As for the time thats even better gives me time to clean up a bit."
Scarlet's eyes twinkle again as she looks back at Eli more. Leaning in and giving him a slight kiss on the lips she backs away a little bit before getting off the bike and giving his leg a slight pat.

Tomorrow
Justin smiles his warm smile at Beth, nodding just a little. If he hadn't wanted to see her through this, he wouldn't have tried being her friend. Maybe it's what she needed to give her the extra little boost in the right direction. People came and went from Justin's life all the time - perhaps his and Beth's paths had crossed simply for this reason... so she could learn to live again. After all, that's what he did, wasn't it? Help people live again? To see a little sunshine in someone's life made it all worthwhile. And Beth had a smile that should be seen more often.
"Hey, if I'd wanted you to be alone, I wouldn't have come tonight." He gives her a quick wink before taking another swig of coffee. He wasn't sure exactly what Beth was thinking as far as spending some time together, but he knew he couldn't push it. Perhaps something familiar would be the best place to start. "I'm going fishing again tomorrow," he mentions. "If you're interested in coming along again, you're more than welcome and I'm sure the dogs would love to have you there too."
Eli chuckles, feeling the pleasure from knowing that Scarlet had missed him. Who knew where this relationship was headed, but at least for the moment, he was thoroughly enjoying it. "Good... I get to pick you up tonight then. I'm thinking... something easy like Mom and Pop's so we can go to a movie afterward. What do you think?"
Receiving Ryan's text message, Alec reads it and grins, despite his sour mood. At least he could still spend some time with her tonight even if it wasn't at her place. Reese had certainly done a bang-up job this time. And Alec was forced to admit that if he wanted his own place, he now needed to follow the rules. It was not fun and he hated it, but Reese had him cornered.
Rolling off the cot, Alec sheds his shirt, relieving his sunburned chest and arms. Assuming his normal fighting stance, his routine begins again, the same as he always did when all he wanted to do was punch something but couldn't. He would end up going over the routine ten times before Ryan would show up later.

Smile
Just taking in what Justin said Beth sits quiet for a long moment as her mind processes everything. What he said make seance and she had heard it many times before but this time Beth listened and was working it over in her mind more. Maybe she was ready to change, or maybe she trusted Justin enough and had in fact formed a friendship to leave her ears open to his words.
Looking down at the paper butterfly that was made from the napkin Beth picks it up. Running her fingers over the wings and looking at the detailed work that was done. He'd done such a good job on it, and he made it look so easy. Looking up at Justin again Beth's eyes search his face for another moment, her eyes seemed now sad, and though there was a strength still behind them there was a longing and almost a pleading.
"I....don't know how. Will....will you help me so I don't have to be alone?"
Justin had become a friend even if this had been the first time she said it. Maybe if she could face each day with a friend it would make it a little easier than facing it alone. Maybe he could show her some things that were fun, and encourage her to spread her own wings.
"But...if ya don't want to I understand...I don't....need you told hold my hand or anything just...having someone to share time with....would...be nice."
Beth did her best to smile and hold it this time as she looked at Justin. The corners of her mouth twitched a little as the smile was being forced to stay but maybe in time it wouldn't be forced but would come easier.

Key
Again, Justin simply sits quietly as he listens. It had been a hard thing for him to learn a few years back - how to be still and allow the other person their space. But once he realized its value, he now used the silences to not only give someone else time to reflect and speak, but it gave him more time to study them and decide the best things to say in return.
Beth's three things did not come as a surprise. She had loved her parents and loved her sister very much, even if the past had been rough. It wasn't strange that she would wish for everything to be reversed, and she wasn't alone with those feelings.
Justin reaches over and takes a napkin from its holder, folding it this way and that as it kept his fingers busy while he thought. His eyes now drift down, allowing Beth her comfort zone.
"Sometimes... it's hard to be happy when what really makes that happen is seeing those we love being happy first." He puts another crease in the napkin. "But sometimes..." He pauses, doing his best to speak words of comfort but not be the councilor she didn't want. "...the trick is finding what brings us happiness, or rather, joy, outside of those things. And sometimes... it means going deeper within ourselves."
Still fiddling with the napkin, he pauses, taking a sip of coffee and remaining very casual. "You know, for a long time after my dad died, all I wanted was him to be back again. I missed him, for a while I blamed myself, and I missed hearing him laugh. I was just a kid, but looking back, I can see that I was bound and determined not to be happy without him around. And then..."
He gives a little shrug as his fingers remain busy. "...then one day it hit me that there really was no way he was going to come back. So I had a choice. I could be miserable without him, or, I could dig deeper and be happy again. I thought about what he would want for me and I knew that he wouldn't want me to be miserable. So... I slowly started collecting things that made me happy... inside... things I found I liked to do. And soon... I realized that what really produced happiness was simply living. To be who God made me to be. I found that I gained joy in helping other people. I like to fish. I find happiness with taking care of my dogs. But..."
He squints a little as he makes another fold in the napkin. "...it's different for everyone. The one thing that remains the same though is the decision to be happy. It's a state of mind... a decision... not something that must be based on circumstances. I can find an old man who lives under a bridge who is happy just because he takes life one day at a time and he is satisfied. But find someone who seems to have everything and they might be miserable."
Pausing, Justin slides the napkin towards Beth. It was now folded down into the crude shape of a butterfly. "The key is allowing ourselves out of the cocoon that binds us and learning to spread our wings, even when it's a long ways to the ground."

Pitaful!
Continuing to look down at her coffee Beth take in a breath and let it out again slowly. She new the tears had wanted to come, they were right on the break but she willed them not to. She'd cried so much so long ago that now she didn't want to anymore. So she held the tears off, and tried to keep herself strong.
Hearing Justin talk it seemed to put a little warmth in her. Maybe it was because this time she was willing to listen, or being alone was just not good enough anymore. Looking up at him her eyes meet his as she searches his face.
"Three things, my parents back again and happy, My sister herself again, and....to be happy."
Drawing quiet for a moment and taking a sip of her coffee Beth lets her mind wonder. Her parents would never come back, her sister would never be the same and happiness...what was happiness?
"I know two of those things can never happen and as the last. I don't...know how to be happy anymore its been so long. I don't even know what my hobbies are, or stuff I like to do. It's just been the same thing for me day in and day out. See Sarah, go to work, come home, watch tv repeat. Life before my parents were gone...I can't remember that life anymore and there faces are slowly fading as well."
Letting out a small sigh Beth looks down at her coffee again and takes a sip. She really was pitiful or so she thought now saying this all out loud. She only wished sometime, things would be different.

Three things
Just sitting quietly, Justin is very surprised at how open Beth is tonight. He doesn't talk but just listens, taking in her body language, voice, downcast eyes... everything while she tells him the story of her past. He was glad he already knew so that nothing would be a surprise - the only surprise was that she was telling him these things. Perhaps she finally had been honest with herself and combined with finally trusting him... maybe it was simply the right combination and right timing for her.
Hearing he was her only friend sends a pang to Justin's heart. Beth was too nice of a woman to be so alone. Without friends, the world was a dark and very lonely place - no wonder she had walls so thick. It was a sad reality and also made Justin glad that he hadn't walked away. If he'd turned his back, she wouldn't even have him. He had to remain... he had to see this through... for her.
Leaning back in his seat, Justin curls his palms around his coffee cup and cocks his head just a little. For the longest time he just stays completely quiet, though there is no shock in his eyes, nor disapproval in his gaze. He simply gives words a chance to rest and regain wisdom before breaking the silence that hovered over the table.
"And I'm still here, Beth," he confirms quietly. "I'm not going anywhere."
He ducks his head a little so he can find her eyes that had been staring at her coffee. "You are very strong and very brave," he commends. A peace flowed through his tone. "And I'm glad that we're friends." Her past he would not hold against her. Her walls he would not hate. All that she had been through, he would not count against her. Justin felt it was important that she know he was still glad to be here, even after everything she'd just told him.
Quiet again, he takes a sip of his coffee before speaking once more. His eyes remain on her, should she look up for him to see her gaze. "If there were three things you could have in this world... anything... what would they be?"

The Story
Looking up and seeing Justin come in Beth almost gives a smile but stops. She hadn't though he wouldn't show but it was nice to just confirm to herself that he did care enough to come. Waiting for him to come over Beth gives another sip to her coffee.
Once Justin has made his way over and sitting down Beth gives a little smile. Shaking her head a little bit she understood what Justin was saying though tonight had been the first time in a while she felt like this.
"This is the first time in a long while I have felt like this. I saw a group of people today after work and I'm not sure why but it just hit me how lonely I really was."
Drawing quiet for a moment there was more on Beth's mind that she wanted to say but she wasn't sure where to start. It was hard to think about it, let along talk about it. Justin was her friend though and if she told him maybe it would help him understand her a little more.
"I was twelve and Sarah was ten when our parents died. I was out at a friends house, and Sarah stayed home because I didn't want her to come along for once. My dad came home drunk and...ranted about something or other so they tell my anyways. I guess the people next door heard the fight."
Beth takes in a deep breath the pain was clear in her eyes that it was hard talking about this, but she continued anyways still looking into the blackness of her coffee.
"My...mom had Sarah go hide, and the fight continued. My father got really angry and ended up shooting my mother killing her. Than he went looking for Sarah and if he had found her he probably would of killed her too. Sitting down on the bed Sarah was hiding under he ended up shooting himself. Sarah saw everything and since that night she hasn't spoken a word. Not to me, not to anyone. I know she's listing though you can see it in her eyes. She just...locked herself away so tight. I know it's not my fault, and if I had been there it wouldn't have changed anything but...It's just one of those things I guess. Since than trusting people has not been my strong part, and keeping my walls up was easier than being hurt."
She new that she had locked herself away too. Not like her sister had, but in her own way and area she had.
"Since than though so many years ago I haven't felt so alone, till tonight and....your...you the only friend I have so...I called you. Even if we don't talk it...its just nice to know...your there."

A drag
With the call ended, Justin puts the phone back and fishes around for his wallet and keys. Though he was used to staying up late, he normally didn't leave the house at this hour so it takes him just a few minutes to make sure he had what he needed and could leave whatever else the way it was until he got back.
Making sure both dogs are still chained up in the yard, he heads to the truck. It takes only two tries to get it started this time, and he heads across the country back roads before finally making it to the highway.
Arriving at Eddie's. he parks in the almost-deserted parking lot. He recognizes Beth's car though, so picks a space next to hers. Wandering inside, he spots her at the table and smiles with a short wave. Seeing she had her coffee, he holds up one finger to signal he'd be right there, and he heads to the counter first.
"Hey, Justin." The man at the counter smiles, recognizing his customer.
Justin nods. "Hey."
"You're out late tonight."
"Yeah, you know me." Justin scans the menu, thinking.
"What'll it be tonight? Your regular?"
"Naw... I need something with a little more zip to it tonight." Justin normally went for straight coffee with a bit of cream, but tonight he did need to perk up a little more.
Once he has his drink, he heads over to the table where Beth was waiting. Offering her another smile, he eases down across from her. Resting his elbows on the table, he cocks his head, studying her face with a gentle, understanding gaze. "Late night lonelies are really a drag, aren't they?"

Waiting
Hearing where Justin wanted to go for coffee was fine with Beth. She new the place, and that this late at night they were pretty good still. It wasn't to far away ether so it wouldn't be a problem to get there.
"Yeah I know where Eddie's is. It's not to far away. Should only get fifteen minutes to get there so I can save you a spot. Thanks Justin."
Hanging up the phone Beth sits in the bed for a moment. She had really agreed to having coffee with Justin...on her own will? Was this really the right thing to do? Would this help and cure her loneliness?
Getting out of the bed and looking down at her sweat pants Beth doesn't even both to change. She was comfortable the way she was and it was late. What would be the point of changing?Grabbing a hoody from her closet and pulls it over her head before slipping her sandles on and heading out to her car.
Like expected Beth makes it there in about fifteen minutes. Ordering her coffee and now sure what Justin would want Beth picks a seat by the door but a little ways away from where anyone else might be. Putting a little sugar in her coffee Beth stirs her coffee and waits for Justin knowing she was a little early. Keeping her eyes on her coffee Beth just waits.
Leaning into Eli and pressing her lips to his once again her arms still around his neck Scarlet didn't want to miss a moment of the affection from Eli. She loved how his kiss felt and sweet it tasted. She'd missed him and now being in his arms again confirmed it.
"Mmm...good I'll make sure to keep these to show Jimmy and than for my own personal collection if I ever need black mail."
Bringing herself to closer to Eli Scarlet continues to smile at him. Hearing he missed her a lot made her feel really good.
"If I had anything planned its now out the window if your asking me to dinner. I'd rather have a nice time out with you than sit here and eat something frozen. I miss you to much to turn dinner down."
Entering the house Ryan was still moving slow. It hurt to walk, it hurt to drive, it hurt to do anything at the moment. Throwing her keys on the little table and hearing her cell phone go off at the same time Ryan goes into her pocket with care. Seeing Alec's text message Ryan lets out a small sigh. She might be disappointed but she understood and if she went to him tonight that was just as good.
Bummer on the boss, but tonight I have no problem coming to see you. Lotion is being put by my keys so I don't leave without it. I'll see you a little bit later. <3
Finishing with the message and hitting send Ryan heads into her room and grabs the bottle of Aloe lotion taking it and putting it with her keys. Going back into the living room Ryan eases down on the couch slowly leaning back and turning the tv on to find something interesting to watch.

Come c me?
If it had been anyone else, Justin probably would have declined the request to go out for coffee. It was late, he was tired and he'd already settled in for the night. But hearing Beth's reasons, sensing her loneliness and hearing her voice quiver, he couldn't say no. Professional peers would warn him against such a move, and his own common sense might, too - he'd already moved too quickly once before, and his frustrations for Beth's situation weren't all that far below the surface. But... she wanted someone tonight... needed someone. And if he ignored the silent cry for help, he might very well come to regret it. No... he couldn't turn his back now. This was too important.
"Sure." The word slipped right out of his mouth. "I'd rather have some coffee than read anyway and I'm a night owl."
Wandering to the hallway where his flipflops were, he slips them on instead of bothering with socks and shoes. He didn't even know where Beth lived or what would be a short or long drive for her. He racks his brain for somewhere they could go, especially at this hour.
"Do you know where Eddie's is? It's that all-night coffee shop on the highway." It was a nicer place than a fast food joint, safe even late at night, well-lit and clean. It was about a half-hour drive for him, but he didn't mind. "I can be there in thirty-minutes but I don't even know if that's close to you."
Eli can't help but laugh along with Scarlet. He'd already laughed plenty over the whole thing with Roth, but seeing Scarlet laugh, he had to join her.
As she pushes him back a little and sits in front of him, he grins before returning her kiss. His eyes twinkled with humor. "Yeah, I haven't seen Jimmy - I knew you'd want to tell him yourself. And yes, I got duplicate prints."
Chuckling again, he goes for another quick kiss. "It was way too boring without you around, you know that?" He'd missed her more than he'd thought he would, especially after not having been going out with her all that long. "You got plans for supper?"
Alec walks quietly across the TJY main floor, trying to make it to the hallway where he could duck down the stairway and avoid Reese before he was questioned as to where he'd been.
"Alec!"
No such luck. Alec stops, cringing a little as he turns to see Reese coming towards him. "Yeah?"
As Reese nears, he almost has trouble not grinning as he now sees how sunburned Alec was - served him right for sneaking out again, though that was probably less painful than what Reese had to tell him. "Where have you been all day?"
"Out."
"With whom?"
"None of your business."
Reese sighs, setting his hands on his hips. If he'd seen any attitude change, he might respond differently. But he couldn't change his mind now. He baits Alec. "How many times have I told you that you can't just come and go from here as you please? What's it going to take?"
"Maybe you can get me my own place like you've been promising," Alec retorts. He knew that he should be grateful for all the Elite was doing for him, but he was still impatient. "Or have you forgotten?"
"No, actually..." Reese purses his lips grimly. "I was going to take you over to your own apartment this morning. But... when I went down to get you, you weren't there. So the vacancy had to be filled by another waiting client."
Alec's anger flares as he grits his teeth. He knew Reese wasn't a liar, but it still burned him up that this had happened. He didn't want to blame himself, but Reese had him cornered with no where to go. The bare truth was that he was at Reese's mercy and he hated it. "You could have warned me."
"I thought you'd obey the rules." Reese shrugs. "You'll have to wait now for another place to open up."
"How long?"
"Don't know. But you might want to stick around from now on so you don't miss the boat again."
Glaring at Reese, Alec spins on his heel and stalks down the hallway. An angry fist lashes out to hit the wall, but winds up hitting the closed door of the spare room with a bang. Still seething, he heads downstairs to his room... lair... cell... dungeon.
Flopping down on the cot, Alec grabs his cell phone and sends a text message to Ryan.
No go 4 2nite. Top dog on warpath. Come c me?
His thumbs hover above the buttons until he continues with one last line.
Lotion...
Send. Alec sighs and leans his head back on his pillow. Why did such a good day have to be ruined by Reese's pigheadedness? It wasn't fair.

Coffee
Leaning back aganst her pillows Beth leans over to turn the light on and her tv off. Now on the phone with someone she didn't want to be detracted but by him. Listing to everything he had to say Beth took it in listing, and processing what he was saying about his day.
Hearing about his mom and inviting another woman over Beth gives a little chuckle that soon ends, shaking her head a little.
"I am sure your mom did mean well. She probably just wants to see you happy."
Quieting again and letting Justin talk some more Beth listens taking it all in and just enjoying him talk about his day. It made her feel a little less lonely.
Having the conversation turn to her Beth can feel her heart pick up a little more and her instinct kicks in to want to run. But she did her best not to...not this time she was tired of running away from people.
"My day was....pretty bad. I was late on everything, and work just...was...bad. It...was...just...jsut one of those days."
Pausing for a moment Beth leans her head back against the head bored and closed her eyes for a moment as her mind turned her lips moving even if she didn't want them too.
"On...my way out...I saw....a group of people...and...they were laughing and it...made me feel...sad. A lot sadder than I had been in a long time."
Drawing silence again Beth's voice was shaky as she spoke. Words she hadn't said to anyone before. Not even to the shrink she had a while ago. But after seeing Justin all the time Beth would like to consider him a friend. Someone she could talk to even if that scared her even more.
"I haven't laughed in a long time. Not since before my parents died. I...I know its late and all but would...would you like to get some coffee and get to know me a little more?"
Returning the kiss with her own passion Scarlet was happy to be in Eli's arms, and hearing he missed her just made her deepen the kiss a little more. Finally pulling away Scarlet looks up at him and her eyes still twinkle.
"I missed you a lot too."
Backing up a little bit as Eli goes for the gift for her Scarlet waits. Taking the pictures she looks to him with question before opening them up. Seeing the first few pictures of the paint job Scarlet gives a nod not to sure who's car it was but knowing Eli did a great job.
"These really are good. I'm not sure who would want Hello Kitty on there car, but its really good you did great."
Continuing on to the next picture where she saw who's car it was and the look on his face Scarlet's eyes go wide and she can't keep a loud laugh in. and once she started she went to the next picture and than the next her laughter growing as her eyes started to water.
"Oh Eli....oh my...oh....this....this is amazing and the look on his face....he was so angry...and its so funny."
Continuing to look through the rest of the pictures and than put them back in the case Scarlet whips the tears from her eyes before looking at Eli again. Going to him and wrapping her arms around his neck and pushing him back on the bike a little so she could sit in front of him, facing him she gives him a kiss on the lips before pulling away.
"No one mess with Eli. I think he might have got the point now. Ohhh Eli... This is so funny. Thank you. Now I just wish I had been there. Wait till Jimmy hears he's going to be rolling."

Pictures
Justin's eyebrows rise as he realizes nothing was wrong but he can sense Beth stammering just a little as if she were trying to keep him on the line. Odd.
"No, no... I don't care that you have my number. I don't mind any call that's not for tech support or a leaky roof."
Beth's question about the dog confirms that she wanted to continue the conversation... but why? She had no real purpose to have called him?
Justin could remember the first day they'd met. If he'd had to sum her up from just their first meeting, he would have described her as strong, tough, confident and alone with a purpose. And now, he would say the same things, but only to describe her outer shell. It was lonely, dark and timid on the inside and he was getting glimpses of it every now and then - tonight especially.
She was being pretty timid though - was he seeing more of that now because she was starting to trust him? It might seem backward to some - that someone would become more shy or timid after getting to know someone else. But it made sense to Justin. When they'd first met, she'd had no reason to be timid because there had been no risk of conversation or further interaction. But now they saw each other almost every day, and she was being forced to interact... to trust. And naturally, her timidness came forth.
Justin ambles over to the couch and eases down, his mind working on what to say and how to say it. He truly was glad she called - it showed growth and he was pleased.
"Dog's are great. They were pretty antsy by the time I got home but they survived the day alone. We roughhoused a bit then I sent them off to bed in their doghouses."
He fiddles with the television remote, keeping his hands occupied. "And me, I'll probably be up for another several hours, reading, cleaning and who knows what else. Normally I woulda been home hours ago but I went over to Ma's for supper. Wouldn't you know it, she actually invited a woman over without telling me? Talk about awkward."
He smirks and shakes his head even though Beth couldn't see him. "She's like that though - my mother. Loves me to death and I mean to death. Sometimes though I think she gets a few too many crazy ideas in that Greek head of hers and there's no telling what she's going to do next."
He glances up to the wall to see a picture of him and his brother when they were about high-school age, standing with their mother for their church photos. "I think sometimes she gives me a double portion of oddities since she can't deal any of them out to my brother."
Justin rarely talked about his brother. It just wasn't something he did. Hearing Danitza bark, he gets up and goes to the window to look out but sees nothing. "So how was your day?"
He knew Beth's routine... hospital, work, home... but if she wanted to talk, he was here and he'd keep up the conversation for as long as she wanted.
Being greeted with such gladness, Eli can't help but smile and gather Scarlet into his arms, his leather jacket squeaking with the movement. Her kiss to his ear makes him nuzzle into her, chuckling. "Mmm...."
As she draws back, he looks down into her eyes, his hands coming up to cradle each side of her face. "You may get to claim me, but I think I'm the lucky one."
Leaning down, he gives her lips a tender, passionate kiss. "I missed you." Smiling, he straightens and takes off his jacket, hot in the sun if he wasn't riding his bike. "And... I've got something for you."
Getting into his saddlebags, he rummages for a minute before pulling out a small pack of pictures. He waves them in the air before handing them to Scarlet. "I had to show you pictures of one of the best paint jobs I've ever done. And no, I couldn't wait to show you." Not only did he have the pictures he'd taken in the garage after finishing with Roth's car, but he'd gotten a snapshot from someone else, who had caught an angle of Roth at the race when his car had been uncovered.
"It's okay." Reese puts his arm around Angelica's shoulders as he ambles back towards her office before going to his own. "We can do what we can to keep him here and I could arrest him any time I wanted to even if he doesn't think so but... if he puts up too much of a fight, I'd rather put Bret, Charlotte and the baby in protective custody than put up with a riot around here. Speaking of which..."
Making it to her doorway, he stops. "...we can do dinner but if you get that call that the baby's come, we can skip on dinner and go see them instead."
"No, no... I don't care that you have my number. I don't mind any call that's not for tech support or a leaky roof."

Knight
Squinting in the dim light as the sun was slowly setting Scarlet looks up at the sound of a bike engine. An engine she new just found the sound. Setting her paperwork on the table next to her a instant smile forms on her face seeing it was indeed Eli out on his bike.
Standing and going over to the railing Scarlet gives a call bad herself not minding if other people would hear her and Eli or not. She was proud to be Eli's girl and wouldn't hide it.
"Mmmm...I'm the one who gets to clam the sexy guy as my own."
Pushing off the porch Scarlet comes down the steps and walks over to Eli her hands on her pockets till she got there. Giving a smile, her eyes twinkling she wraps her arms around him and gives him a hug. Holding him for a moment she turns her head and brings her lips to his ear letting a lingering kiss be placed on it. Her words soft, and light.
"My knight on his motorcycle, a dream come true."
Pulling away a little bit Scarlet searches his face. It was good to see Eli again after a week. Work had been long and hard this time around, so to see Eli's face now was good for her eyes no matter how tired she felt.
Trey keeps his own ground his arms crossed over his chest. Listing to what Reese had to say. He new what the law was, and even if he new who his parents were he couldn't arrest and charge him because he had no proof that Trey was even involved with that.
"It would be kinda hard to charge someone for something without proof now wouldn't it?! And seeing as smoking a cigarette is NOT against the law no I don't think I will kick the habit."
Not even bothering for Reese to answer Trey goes into the room and closes the door behind him not even bothering to invite Angelica in or to try and talk anymore to her.
Rising her hand to for a moment but seeing the door being shut on her Angelica lets out a long sigh before looking at Reese and turning around.
"I'm sorry this is going to be a hassle. I guess I should get some work done too. I'll let you know if anyone for the hospital calls. If you'd like to do dinner tonight still too let me know."
Angelica gives a smile to Reese letting him know she was not upset with him only stressed by this whole thing. Just having try not be so hard headed would of made it to easy but it would of saved on a lot of headaches.
Katie can't hold in the smile that formed on her face. She always loved when Jason made plans they were always romantic to her, even the sleeping Dog.
I think thats one lucky girl to be going on a date like that. Sure there will be kissing in there too. How could someone say no?
Reaching out and brushing the side of Jason's face with her hand Katie just looks deep in his eyes letting her feelings of how happy she was flow to him.
Right after work is good for me!
Being in bed and dozing Beth gives a little jump as the phone rings. Knowing it might be someone from the hospital Beth gets up to answer the phone. Hearing Justin on the other end and hearing he was worried something was wrong Beth sinks down on the bed again.
"Yeah, everything is ok...I think. Mmmm...I just felt lonely more than normal. so I though I'd call you. I...I hope you don't mind I have your home number."
It kind of felt nice to hear someone else voice on the other end of the phone, to have had someone call her back other than the hospital or the doctors it felt good. Though her heart was still racing, and she felt all nervous there was something else added to it that felt...good.
"Ummm...I...I don't really know what to talk about or anything I just...I don't know. You saw me this morning and all, and I hope you don't mind I called you. How...how are the dogs??"
She felt stupid now not know what to say and asking about his Dog. She kind of wanted to keep the conversation up even if it was late, but she liked hearing Justin's voice over the phone even if she only admitted it to herself.

Safe
Justin watches Rebecca drive away and gives a wave before heading back in the house. His mother is already in the kitchen starting on the dishes, so he joins her, grabbing a towel to dry.
Lydia's eyes remain on the soapy water as her hands keep busy, but her speech is aimed at Justin. "So did you like her?"
Justin had known the question was coming, so no irritation surfaces. He grins a little as he dries off a plate. "Who?"
His mother smirks. "That beautiful, single, nice young woman who was just here. Or did your eyes not notice?"
Justin hides a laugh. "Well I'm not made out of stone, if that's what you mean."
Lydia pauses her work to throw him a look, but ends up shaking her head. "You look just like your father when you try to hide that smile of yours."
Justin chuckles softly and stacks a second plate. "Rebecca is nice," he finally answers. "I think she's attractive and fun to be around."
"I have her number."
"Ma!"
"Alright!" Lydia throws up her hands, flinging soap suds in the air. "But should you want to call her, her number is on the refrigerator. She doesn't work on Fridays."
"Ma!"
...It was a while later that Justin finally makes it home. Thought he was exhausted, he makes sure to take time to play with the dogs and feed them before sacking out in the living room for the night.
Once settled with the television on though, he suddenly realizes that he hasn't checked his answering machine. Getting up again, he wanders over and is a little surprised that there is actually a message. Caller ID indicated a number he didn't recognize.
Listening to the message, he slowly sits back down on the couch, very surprised that Beth had called him. Her voice sounded a little more strained than normal... tired, perhaps. It was the first time she had made any steps towards him on her own, and for a moment, Justin hopes that she really is okay. It might be nothing, but it might be something more too, that had triggered her to reach out. He couldn't tell without seeing her eyes.
Thinking for a long moment, he looks up at the clock. It was past eleven by now. He wished he would have had the sound on so he could have answered the call earlier. Would she still be up? Should he try calling or wait until morning? He'd hate it if she really needed someone tonight and he neglected to call her back.
Finally, stands again and goes for the cordless phone, dialing the number she'd given and waiting until he hears her voice. "Beth, it's Justin, hi." He paces in his living room, scuffing his bare toes into the carpet. "I hope I didn't wake you. I just now got your message - was a crazy evening. Is... everything okay?"
Hot date?
Jason turns and grins at Katie slyly.
Mmm, I'd say about the hottest I can get. That is, if she's willing to go for a motorcycle ride down to watch the sun set over the lake, followed by an evening ice cream, followed by a movie, snuggled up on the couch with a snoring dog by our feet.
Reese holds his stance in the doorway, not impressed with Trey at all. "No wandering until we're sure of your situation. Right now your world exists of this room, the bathroom down the hall and the break room, right down there." He points. "We don't have henchmen here - they're called agents or officers and you'll be pretty hard up to find anyone to report them to since you're the one with illegal connections. There's a refrigerator with sandwiches and drinks in the break room - you can help yourself until we make other arrangements." He knew the goal was to move Trey downstairs where there was a bigger area to roam, but right now, he'd just keep that card hidden.
"No smoking allowed inside this building. If you're not strong enough to kick the habit, you may call on Hal in the control room right down there." Reese points again. "He'll escort you outside and back in again."
Pausing, he searches Trey's face. "No one's going to force you to stay here, Trey. If you decide to pack up and leave, that's your choice - but once you leave, we will be forced to make an arrest, and then there will be a whole lot less luxury. Your parents wanted you safe and that's what we'll do - other people's safety is riding on this too and I'm not willing to turn my back. So you're just going to have to put up with what you've got."
Nodding with finality, he turns to leave, glancing at Angelica. She could stay as long as she wanted, but he would leave the young man be for now. "I'll be in my office."
Having Ryan put her arm around him, Alec suddenly realizes that it's not the same. It wasn't the same as a cuddling on the couch or when she wanted a kiss or to play. It was... an offer for something else... something warm something... Comfort. Yes, it was comfort. ...And it felt so very foreign.
Alec hadn't felt this way in years... he was feeling guilt, wanting freedom and now with Ryan, it was as if something deep down like a little boy was screaming to get out. He'd never let it out before... never bent to anything below his tough exterior because he could always handle everything. But right now... with just him and Ryan... in this atmosphere where no one could see... it was safe.
And a wall crumbles just a little bit more.
Slowly leaning over, almost awkwardly, Alec leans into Ryan, resting his head against hers. This time it wasn't his arm around her, but hers around him. But today... in this moment... it was okay. He was not ready to say what was on his heart - to utter the words about what he was feeling. But the stillness and quiet was okay this time.
Looking out at the water, Alec says nothing but just watches the few rippling waves, wondering what it would be like on the other side where there were more trees.
An engine revs down the street. A loud engine. A motorcycle engine.
Eli had gotten Scarlet's message a couple hours ago at work but had decided not to call her back right away. Instead, when he got out of work, he'd headed over to her place. Unable to help the smile that creased his lips, he parks and takes off his helmet, squinting to the porch.
"Hey!" he hollers, not caring if anyone heard. "If I'm sexy, what does that make you?"
Lydia's eyes remain on the soapy water as her hands keep busy, but her speech is aimed at Justin. "So did you like her?"

Call
Getting out of work Beth lets out a long sigh coming around the bar and standing for a moment before making her way to the door. Her feet hurt today, and she was tired. Her bad day this morning had gone to worse while at work.
The laughter of someone at a table stops her though. Looking over at a group of people smile on there face and how they got along it put a pang in Beth's heart. So much of her life was gone, and time like these people were having she never felt before. Her face was stone, and never smiled or laughed.
Company...the words enter her mind....and for the first time Beth felt more alone than she ever had before. Continuing her rout to her car Beth's arms wrapped around herself. Sitting in her car for a long moment she just sits. It wasn't to late, some people would still be at the hospital.
Heading there Beth doesn't stay long and visits Sarah again while she is there. It was always good to see her sister again but today this visit it would last long and she promises tomorrow she will stay with her longer.
Getting into her car once again Beth just sits there for a long moment holding a paper. It felt odd contemplating this and so out of her element, but maybe it was time like she had been told. Alone had been the way of life for so long it felt normal to her now. Finally just dialing the number Beth gets the answering service and for a moment it kind of glad.
"Hey Justin, I just called...to...to say Hi..I think. I know I just saw you today and all but umm..I got your home number from a friends..and I just wanted...to...say Hi I guess. Maybe...I was looking for...your company. I...figured if I was...gonna...gonna start somewhere...maybe over the phone would be the...best. Yeah...so I'll let you go for now...My home number is....694-872-0176 if...you wanna call me back if not...thats...that ok."
One could tell by the lack of conversation on the phone this might very well be the first social call made in a long time and that was the awkward tone. But other might think it was good step in the right direction for someone who kept everyone out.
Getting out of the car behind Trey Angelica pulls up the rear and walks. This was sure going to be difficult but again she was happy Reese took the lead for now. Once everyone was settled in she would do her best to get to know Trey but if it would come easy she didn't know.
Rolling his eyes again Trey follows behind Reese, Angelica being behind him it felt like he was in jail already fighting for his freedom already. Getting to the main floor and scanning the area Trey held his head high, no one would see him defeated, first impress was everything so his parents had said.
"It's just this way Trey. I have some of your stuff at my house so if you need something just let me know. Your other stuff is down the ways in a store room of sorts. We can show you it later."
Looking into the room and giving a disgusted grunt Trey takes a step in before turning to look at Angelica and than Reese crossing his arms over his chest.
"So now what? I stay here like a good little boy or do I get to wonder? And who do I talk to when I want to go outside? When do I get to eat? This is important stuff I need to know you no. Late thing I need is one of your henchmen tackling me for no reason and than I have to report them."
Seeing Reese and Angelica along with another younger man Katie just looks for a long moment. Feeling Jason's emotional flow change so sharply she gives a little jump but recovers nicly, though now it made her heart race. She didn't get a good look at the guys face but something about him seemed familiar. How he walked, held himself...it was...odd.
Something seems...familiar about him but thats crazy, Never met him before he's from Mexico Reese said. I guess just stay our distance till said other wise. Maybe keep our eyes out for now. He's from a rough family, who is involved in all sort of things I'm sure there will be a lot of commotion here and there from him.
Continuing to watch as the head to the room by the infirmary Katie lets out a small sigh and looks back to Jason. Work was anything but normal around here now that people new who they were. Quiet was hard to come by but once and a while it happened, and having Jason so close helped pass the time too with all the noise.
So, what are your plans for tonight? Got any hot dates?
"Mmmm..."
Ryan gives a nod as she takes another bit of her ice cream. Feeling Alec move his legs Ryan moves from leaning on him so he can have more room to move and she wasn't holding him down. Just scooting away for now till he was comfortable or whatever she would sit there.
"..My boss is pretty good about giving me off when I ask. Maybe I could get a weekend off, and if Eli can do the same we could go out Thursday after work and camp till Sunday. I think that sounds like fun. I'll have to talk to him and than let ya know."
The continued look in his eye made Ryan a bit sad to see he has so many shadows still to get past. Coming to terms with what you did was hard, and she new it was still new for him. But no matter what she would be there ready to help if he asked.
Seeing he was in a still position again Ryan finishes off her cone and than comes next to Alec again. Lightly putting her arm over his shoulder and just held it there, letting him know she was there for him.
"Hey there Sexy, I was back in town and was just wondering if you'd like to catch a drink tonight. I though about stopping by the shop but I didn't want to guy to get at you more than they do already. Anyways let me know..talk to ya soon."
Hanging up the phone before heading inside Scarlet new Eli would be at work but she called him anyways. It would be a nice surprise for him when he was able to get to his phone.
It had been a long, hot week and work had been more than planned but everything had turned out for the best and it was a job well done. The Smithsonian saved a lot of money not buying an item Scarlet found out was a fake and for that she felt proud. But now it was time for a nice long hot shower, and a relaxing sit on her porch.
The laughter of someone at a table stops her though. Looking over at a group of people smile on there face and how they got along it put a pang in Beth's heart.
Again sometime
Reese keeps an eye on Trey through the rearview mirror, now wondering if this had been such a good idea. But... Bret and Charlotte's safety was on the line, let alone their new little one that would be joining their family any minute.
Making it back to TJY, Reese is glad that so far there had been no mishaps. The only thing that irked him now was that the lower holding room was unavailable - it should have been empty today, but true to form, Alec had neglected to show up last night or even this morning. This time, at least, Reese knew exactly what he'd tell the young man. And hopefully it would stick this time. The only bad thing was that now Trey would have to stay in the spare room next to the infirmary. Reese just hoped that it wouldn't be for long - sometimes they needed that room in emergencies.
After parking in the lot, Reese is the first out of the car, waiting for Trey and Angelica. He was pretty sure Trey wouldn't run... though the guy might be angry he was here, Reese had a hunch he was smart enough to stick around at least for a while - he was used to money and getting his way... if he set out on his own in strange territory, it could be his undoing and he most likely knew that.
Aiming for the building, Reese stops at the door and glances up at the security camera, giving a nod. He knew Hal would be watching on the other end, making sure they'd made it back with their cargo in one piece. With new regulations, the doors weren't locked until after hours, so they made sure eyes were on the cameras at all times.
"In you go." Reese opens the door for Angelica and Trey before taking the lead once more when they're inside. The elevator ride is a very brief one as they only went down a partial floor, then they were in the main area with the cubicles. Still leading, Reese heads straight down, not stopping to talk to anyone and aiming for the hall.
A ways away, Jason is leaning on Katie's cubicle, grinning after giving her some teasing. As motion catches his eye, he looks up, getting a glimpse of the newcomer.
Well, looks like he's here. Reese only let a few of us know about him, but everybody's gonna know now.
Jason's eyes fallow the trio, landing on Trey's face. Though he was across the room, a chill suddenly runs down Jason's spine, his emotions lurching in a small spike.
I don't like him. Something about this doesn't feel right at all.
His face had grown tight with tension and he had straightened to watch the three trek towards the hallway.
Guess it's none of my business though. I just hope Reese doesn't assign me to watch him.
I know you'd never want anything to happen to me... Chance's thoughts stop with those words of Destiny's, his mind reeling in all directions. He had... he already had let something happen to her. It couldn't happen again.
Turning and kissing her head, Chance nestles his face into her hair, breathing in the sweet smell as he closed his eyes. Innocent. That's what she was. She was innocent in this whole thing... a bystander, caught in this merry-go-round, not of her choice. She was a pawn in a deadly game of chess. Was he capable of playing this game? Would the enemy fall into the trap or see through the plans and destroy the battle lines?
Resting his head atop Destiny's, Chance pays little attention to the droning movie. Instead, it was plans, future, strategies and consequences that were running rampant in his mind.
Alec thought that a camping trip with Ryan, Eli and his girl sounded like... fun. "I've camped out before but... not for fun," he admits. "Just... a couple times when we had somewhere to go and get a job done." What he really meant, was ambush a family in a cabin and take their father away from him to be questioned, tortured, then later killed.
For several long moments, Alec is deathly quiet, seeming to be in a completely different place, far from this peaceful setting. The sound of a passing jetski brings him back though as he gives a little jump.
Glancing down at his ice cream, he swirls his plastic spoon around. It was one of the first times that he'd lost his appetite over something like that. Guilt was a brand new feeling and it made his stomach churn.
Setting aside what was left of his treat, he leaves it uneaten. Bringing his knees up, he leans forward to rest on them and just look out at the water, trying to forget all of it. "We ought to see when Eli and you could get off work to do it," he concludes.
Laughing again, Justin shakes his head, tucking his feet up a little more on the couch where he sat across from Rebecca and his mother.
Rebecca laughs too at the story just told, her eyes twinkling. Looking at the nearby clock, she sighs. "Though I'm sure there are many more stories, I should probably let you two get back to your own evening."
"Nonsense," Lydia retorts. "All I do is sit around and watch television anyway."
"Well, but Justin-"
"All he does is sit around and watch television with his dogs."
The women crack up, Rebecca wiping tears of laughter from her eyes. "I really would like to meet your dogs sometimes," she mentions to Justin.
He grins and nods. "I bring them over here once in a while. Maybe your paths will cross sometime."
Finally standing, Rebecca doesn't want to outstay her welcome. After thanking Lydia for everything, she's joined by Justin, who walks her to the door. Standing on the porch, Rebecca looks out at the sky as it grew dark, a rainbow of colors spreading across the horizon. "It's beautiful," she breathes.
"Mm-hmm." Justin walks out with her and leans on the porch column. He'd always loved his house. Right on the edge of town, no one had built up around them yet, so they were right on the edge of open country with trees and grass. Sunsets were almost as pretty here as they were at his own place.
Turning to Rebecca, he offers a crooked smile. "Look, um... I think I might have been a little rude earlier tonight and I just want to apologize. It had been a long day and-"
"It's okay." Rebecca rests a hand on his shoulder to stop him. She grins and nods inside. "You think I don't see what she's up to?"
Justin can feel a bit of heat creeping into his face, and noticing Rebecca was now blushing two, both of them laugh again. "Yeah, she has a way of doing things, doesn't she?"
Rebecca giggles and nods. "She does." Lowering her hand, she cocks her head, studying Justin for a moment. "I don't think I mind though."
Searching her eyes, Justin clears his throat and looks away. "It was good to meet you, Rebecca. Have a safe drive home."
"You too." She steps down onto the sidewalk before turning and looking up at him again. "I wouldn't mind doing this again sometime."
Justin's lips curl into a small smile. "Well maybe we can then." He waves as Rebecca backs away. "Goodnight."

Lets make a memorie
Once getting outside it was like Reese words didn't even hit Trey's ears. Digging into his bag he pulls out a pack of smokes and lite one up. Weather it was a long or short walk to the car he didn't car he needed something to calm him for the moment.
Getting to the car and not getting in right away Trey takes a few more drags of his smoke before dropping it on the ground and crushing it with his foot before bending down picking it up, and putting it in a trash can next to the car. Though he might be rough and full of spite, his had some kind of manors. Opening the door and getting into the car Trey puts his bags next to him and leans on them slightly. Keeping his eyes fixed on the outside and as the scenes pass by.
Looking over at Reese Angelica gives a nod understanding that though they both wanted to show affection for each other now was defiantly not the time. Giving Trey any fire to play with could be bad, and they didn't even want to think about that right now.
Feeling Chance's arms around her once again Destiny felt the safety that he offered. It was always nice, and the warmth was that came from him gave her the reassurance.
"Ok, a trip to the mall sounds good. I know you'd never want anything to happen to me and would keep me safe. Thanks Chance."
Resting her head on his chest Destiny keeps her eyes on the TV she just lays comfortable to watch the movie. The day had felt long, and now she only hopped the night was a little better as she was with Chance and just enjoying there time.
Getting her own cookie dough ice cream Ryan gives a small laugh to the kiss on the neck knowing Alec new he could get away with a little more at the moment because she was sun burned but not really minding, and knowing he wouldn't go over the limit.
Taking the first bit of her ice cream and leaning slightly against Alec in the shade Ryan lets the coolness wash over her. Feeling a little bit of the boil on her skin die for moments at a time it felt good though she new even with that she would still be sore for a while.
Following Alec's eyes out to the water she could see the look on his face and his longing. He was a free spirit, someone who was travailed on the wind and roamed. For him to be caged still she new it was killing him and she felt bad. Thats why moments when he would spend the night or just get away didn't bother her. He deserved that. Hearing about camping a smile forms on her lips as a memorie of some photos come to mind.
"I havent been camping in so long. I can't even remember the last time I did. The only thing I have is a photo of my dad holding me on his lap by a camp fire, Eli on one side, and John on the other. As to who took the picture...I don't know. "
Ryan gives a little sigh as a sad glint forms in her eye at the mention to her dad. She missed him, and wish he was still around. Even if Eli didn't know it he looked so much like him, and even had his smell.
"Maybe next time we run away it should be for a camping trip. Eli and his girl, you and me. I think it would be a lot of fun. We could make our own memories."

I don't want to
Reese rolls his eyes a little at Trey as he starts after him out the door. "Hey, if you want to destroy your lungs and die a gruesome death as you slowly suffocate, be my guest. Just do it away from me."
Getting outside, he leads the way to the car, not slowing. "But whatever you do, do it quick because you're not smoking in the car."
Glancing to Angelica again, he wants to put his arm around her in support for this whole thing, but he deems it not the best time. There was no point in giving Trey any ammunition.
Having Destiny cuddle up to him, Chance abandons the rest of his lunch for now - he hadn't been that hungry anyway. Slipping his arm around her, he gets more comfortable, letting her use him as a pillow.
"Well, the mall isn't as safe as this house," he reasons, still flipping television channels. "And...my superiors probably wouldn't recommend it, but..." He shrugs a little, before giving her a squeeze. "I think it would be okay. The Agency waits a while between strikes and besides, we can blend into the crowd."
Finally settling on a western movie, he sets the remote aside, though he knows he will probably doze off. "I think it will be safe for you - that's what I'll be there for. I don't want you to have to worry. I'll be doubly on my guard now after what happened."
His voice trails off, then comes back, softer, almost as an after thought that wasn't supposed to be spoken aloud, though it's uttered as almost a whisper. "I don't want to see that happen again."
Alec snickers. "I don't need an ice cream menu to get hungry." Reaching up from behind to gather Ryan's hair, he moves it out of the way to give the back of her neck a kiss. "Except chocolate chip does sound really good right now."
It doesn't take long to get their ice cream and this time it's a shady spot under a tree not far from the sandy beach that they choose. Alec sits in the grass, leaning back against the tree, thankful that it wasn't his back that was sunburned.
Slowly sucking his ice cream from a spoon, he squints out over the water and sighs deeply. He might not say it, but his eyes told the story of one who was enjoying this day... enjoying it too much... enough that he wanted more... more of this freedom. His drive to be free had been renewed and he wanted nothing more than to be out from under TJY again. He'd learned his lesson about running, yet even so, there was still a desire in him that drove his dreams.
"I want to go camping," he mentions, completely out of the blue.

Thanks
Trey's eyes narrow at Reese tone and his accusation on drugs. How dare someone he even know talk to him like that. He'd come here for protection his parents said but to be held captive that was not in the deal from them.
"Will I at least be able to go outside a smoke.."
Trey stops for a moment and rolls his eyes at what Reese had said.
"cigarette thats all, and to get some fresh air or something."
Trey didn't like this one bit but he would have to deal with it for now at least. He'd figure something else out maybe sneek out or something later on.
"Least if I turned around I would have a choose to go or stay."
Turning back twords the door Trey rolls his eyes again starting to walk once more.
"Come on let go, I wanna get outside and smoke."
Watching Reese and Trey Angelica gave a little jump. She was happy though when Reese took the lead and used a strong tone. She was still getting use to everything with Trey, and interested in the look in his eye she felt she saw before.
As they start to walk again Angelica looks to Reese and gives a nod letting him know she was not upset and she was happy he took the lead like that and that it would only become easier. She hoped thought she didn't know for if it would.
Finishing her food and setting the plate onto the table for now. Laying back on the couch and moving a little closer to Chance again. Hearing about going to the mall Destiny thinks for a moment.
"Mmm...a trip shopping to the mall is always nice. Spending money is always better but I thought the mall was one of the worst places to go because the Agency could be hidding anywhere."
Destiny snuggles into Chance a little more getting comfortable. Her bad shoulder away from him. Its not she didn't trust him but after what had happened it had been to close a call and she didn't want to go through that again.
"I mean...if you really think it would be ok than I trust you completely and it would be nice to spend time with you there. Maybe see a movie or something I'd like that."
Ryan look up at Alec and gives a smile and shakes her head. Her own eyes had the mysterious glint in them though she holds her tong on her own words.
"If it didn't hurt so much to move I would of waked you for that and than headed home for the lotion too."
Shaking her head and getting into line Ryan looks over the menu not sure of what she wanted. Maybe something differnt today since they were doing thing on whim.
"Everything looks so good, I am getting hunger just looking at it."
"Will I at least be able to go outside a smoke.."

Choice is yours
Alec manages to stand up and starts brushing off the sand from his pants, now completely dry, despite having been in the water.
At Ryan's suggestion, his eyebrows rise a little and his mouth quirks as if he's holding back a comment. Grabbing his t-shirt he opts not to put it on yet, and carefully puts an arm around Ryan to walk toward the ice cream place. "I don't know," he mentions, almost under his breath. "I might wanna head for the lotion first..."
Still grinning, he plants a kiss atop Ryan's head. "But I'll settle for ice cream... for now."
Chance snickers and leans back with the television remote. "As if a word could scare me off. If that's the way most men are, then most have no backbone."
Taking another bite of his sandwich, he shakes his head. "Nope, don't have a clue what's on, but my guess is that the best thing will end up being a cheesy B movie. Not that I mind though."
Flipping channels, it seems nothing was on, and Chance falls silent for a short while, looking for something to watch while continuing with his sandwich. "Hey, I was thinking," he mentions, "Maybe when you're feeling up to it, we can take a day to the mall or something... you know, just... hang out for a day." He pauses, giving Destiny a sidelong glance. "You deserve a break."
Reese stops short as Trey spins around, bristling at his tone. Giving a quick glance to Angelica, he decides to answer himself, opting to simply go for the truth. He wasn't to sweet-talk or manipulate with persuasive words.
"Under the circumstances, we think it's best if you do stay under TJY's protection," he replies calmly. "And... I think you're smart enough to know that whether you're a Mexican citizen or not..." His tone lowers slightly. "...we don't tolerate those involved in drug rings here. Now, you have been sent here to be under our protection and we're going to do our job. But until we are sure of every side, you're going to have to remain at TJY or leave with an escort. It's that simple."
He turns and points back towards the airport gates. "Either that, or you can turn around and pay your own way back home just to have your head blown off once you get there. Choice is yours."
I think
Happy Reese was with her Angelica continues to hold her smile as she continues to look at her cousin. There was a darkness in his eyes, and circles under them as well. She couldn't help but wonder if her Aunt and Uncle's bad habit rubber off on him. They were people who always got what they wanted and new how to get it.
Seeing Reese adapt a little and want to get out of here as well Angelica gives a little smile to Trey again before turning around and starting to walk she couldn't help to catch the look in Trey's eyes, there was something about him that she had seen before, but not to sure what it was.
Following behind Trey's eyes were narrow but he didn't say much. He didn't want to be here, and he had told his parents that. But they made him come anyways promising to send money and he would be back soon. Hearing Reese's question Trey is quiet as they continue to walk and takes another moment before saying anything.
"I've never been to the US before, and when I was just born doesn't count. I was abandon here, and shipped off to Mexico so I would say all together this IS my first time here."
Continuing to walk and getting to the bag clams Trey wastes no time in getting his bag. Slinging it over his shoulder Trey comes back to them both before heading to the door and talking over his shoulder.
"So, where am I staying? With you Angelica my own place or what? I rather like my privacy and not being caged! Sooo....something to myself would be nice."
Angelica looks to Trey and than looks to Reese. She told his parents he would be staying at TJY but they must not have told him. She wondered if it would of made it harder to give it to him here or not.
"Most of your stuff it at the building were we work its called TJY. Your going to be staying there. You will have your own room and what not."
Stopping sharp in front of Angelica and Reese Trey turns around not liking at all what had been said.
"I have to stay at where you work? At least do I get to come and go? I have done nothing wrong to be kept captive. I'll find my own place or something you wont even have to."
Standing and still having the humor in her eyes she moves very slow. Everything hurt so bad right now standing in just a cold shower sounded like a good idea, or going back into the water. However ice cream sounded even better.
"Mmmm...ice cream and than lotion sounds like a good plan to me. And...I rub lotion on your arms and stuff as long as you get my back for me."
Offering a hand to Alec to help him up Ryan wanted to do more, kiss him, tackle him or something but her shoulders and back along with her hands just hurt way to much for that at the moment.
"Hmmm...I think sweetheart works nice. You say that L word and is scares guys away. I'd rather not give you up just yet."
Giving a wink to Chance Destiny goes back to her food munching away in content. Her shoulder was killing her at the moment but she wouldn't let on to it. Shortly she would take some pain killer and be ok but till than she could deal.
"So know of anything good on tv at the moment?"

Vaguely familiar
Not even sure of Reese was going to be able to communicate with Trey did make him uneasy, but no matter what, they'd work this out. One way or the other, it would work.
Giving Angelica's hand an encouraging squeeze, all they have left to do is wait. Once she spots her cousin, Reese stands with her, though he lets her take the lead. The last thing he wanted to do was scare off the young man. Though as Trey neared, Reese wondered if there was more spite than fear there.
Realizing that Trey had understood Angelica's English, yet had replied in Spanish, Reese's eyes narrow just a little. He was glad when she asked Trey to speak in English too - that was now one less thing they needed to worry about. However... Reese looks at him a little closer, studying his dark eyes. There was bad attitude there and Reese had a very low tolerance for that. But... he'd agreed to this whole thing and was going to see it through. Trey had good, clear English, but poor attitude.
Sighing, Reese musters up somewhat of a smile as he steps closer to Angelica to make his presence known. "Trey... I'm Mike Reese. Welcome." He cocks his head. "No, I'd rather not stand here all day myself, so let's go get your things."
Walking forward, he glances to Trey again. Something about the young man seemed vaguely familiar and he wondered if maybe there was more to his story than they knew - that perhaps Reese had come across a file on him at some point. "First time back to the US?"
Alec eyes Ryan as she starts to laugh, wondering what she found so funny. Then looking down, he tries to see the handprint. Sure enough, he could just make out where her hand had been lying, protecting only that part of his skin from a nice sunburn. No wonder he felt sore. "Aww man!"
Grinning, then laughing, he shakes his head. "Next time, I'm picking somewhere in the shade." He takes a look at his arms and his feet, smirking. "I haven't been sunburned in years."
Sighing, he sits up straight and shakes sand from his hair. The sunburn hurt - a lot. "This calls for ice cream... and later lots and lost of lotion."
Chance chuckles. "Dear makes me feel old." Forcing himself to smile and forget about all that was on his mind, he goes for his sandwich too. "I think I'm more of a "sweetheart" or "love.""
Giving Destiny a little elbow, he winks at her before planting a kiss on her cheek. "Just don't call me late for dinner and I'll be happy."
