Heartache

Alec cocks his head a little and straightens up, sensing that this wasn't a normal interrogation happening. Hope was serious and she was hurting... badly. As cold as he could be, even Alec could see that in her eyes.

Hearing about Scott, one of his eyebrows lifts. Hope already knew a lot about the assimilation process, apparently. Most likely the information had come from Carson - at least that was what seemed logical. It appeared Scott was now having problems. "Not doing well, huh? You mean he finally lost it."

Rick's eyes narrow, feeling bad for Hope having to go through this, and upset with Alec for the cool tone with which he spoke. His emotions were strong enough for him to step in, whether Hope had started this conversation or not. "Scott was admitted to a... facility... to get help."

"So he did go crazy."

Rick frowns, anger flashing in his eyes and he gives Hope a sidelong glance, controlling his temper. "No, that's not what I said. He's just having trouble dealing with what happened to him, like Hope said."

"Yeah." Alec nods, ignoring Rick's irritation. "I'd say he did pretty good for holding out this long."

The casual response makes Rick just as curious as upset. "What are you talking about? Why would you say that?"

"Well, because." Alec shrugs. "Seventy-five percent of the chosen few to be assimilated wind up in the nuthouse." Seeing the blank expression on Rick's face, he lifts his eyebrows and looks to Hope as well. "Ahh... I bet Carson didn't know that, did he? He had enough clearance to know the process but I bet he was never informed of what happened to those unfortunate souls once they were let loose."

Rick wanted to lose his temper with Alec's matter-of-fact attitude. The man cared nothing about people, and Scott was Rick's friend. He held his anger at bay though, sacrificing his satisfaction by realizing that this might be an opportunity to understand more, and if so, it might be a doorway to helping Scott. He moves closer to Hope, wanting to be in on this. He'd dealt with Scott's medical care after this whole fiasco and he wanted to know more. Grabbing a chair, he sits near the bed and motions for Hope to do the same. He sensed this would not be a quick conversation. "What do you mean most end up in a nuthouse?"

Alec shrugs again. He didn't mind sharing this information. That's what he'd agreed upon - sharing his knowledge. He was just surprised they didn't already know this. "Hope, you're right. The assimilation process uses part of the brain that isn't normally used - at least not in the average person." He glances to her again, sensing that she had different motives for wanting to know this. Rick was looking at it from a medical standpoint, while she was looking at it from a psychological standpoint. "So first off, it's hard to maintain and control the data anyway. After that, it's the own recognition of the data that makes people go mad. See, all that information gets fed into the host... then they're presented with triggers to activate the information so that they can recognize and read the data as needed. The problem comes when there's no control and it's enough to make any man go insane. I worked with a guy who had been assimilated and it took him quite a while to get the hang of it - he was one of the few who didn't end up falling to pieces midstream."

Rick furrows his brow, trying to understand. "What do you mean by control? The ability to retrieve data?"

"No." Alec shakes his head. "The ability to stop it unless you need it."

Rick blinks. "But... we thought it worked like a computer. Like... you couldn't retrieve the information unless it was a command."

"It is a command. But the brain doesn't know how much information to give, or even when for that matter. It receives a trigger, like Hope said, and wham, the brain presents the information, wanted or not. It's kinda like a reflex."

Reese continues to think. "Well there have been times that Scott has retrieved information fine... like when asked a question, he can answer it without having realized he knew the answer."

"That's because it was audio."

Rick shakes his head. He looks at Hope, wondering if she was following as poorly as he was. "You lost me."

"Okay..." Alec tries to explain, his eyes bouncing between Rick and Hope. "Let's say you asked Scott who was in charge of level five. He would automatically give you an answer. It's knowledge he has now that he may or may not realize he has. That's an audio trigger. His brain hears the cue, searches for the answer and retrieves it. Visual triggers are different, because there is no question and answer. The question never exists, but the answer does anyway."

Rick sighs, still not understanding.

Alec taps his hand on the mattress, trying to think of the best way to tackle the subject. "Here, I'll give you an example." Reaching to the bedside table, he retrieves a notepad and shows it to Rick. Then he puts it behind his back. "What color is the notepad I'm holding?"

"White."

"That was an audio trigger. You had a question and you were able to answer it." Being careful to not aim at Hope, Alec whips out the notepad and without warning, whacks Rick in the face with it.

Rick jumps back, bewildered. "What was that for?"

"That was a visual trigger. You had no warning that you would recognize a notepad until it hit you in the face. No question - only an answer. The answer was that it was a notepad. The only problem is, no one asked you for that answer, and you didn't ask your brain for it either. It just flew at you and became your focus."

Now Rick was beginning to understand. Like a lightbulb going on, his eyes widen. "When Scott sees people... like you... or Phinox... that's why it throws him for a loop. Because he didn't ask to retrieve that information, it just... took over." His eyes got to Hope again. "So that's why when he has seen Agency people, he gets so wound up."

"Now you got it." Alec can't help a little grin. He didn't normally like sharing information, but seeing the lights go on was just a little bit enjoyable.

"So how... can that be stopped?"

"Practice." The notepad comes flying again, once again whacking Rick in the face.

"Ow!" Again, it comes in his direction, but this time Rick is quicker, reaching out to grab Alec's wrist before getting hit.

Alec cocks his head. "You just stopped it."

Rick pauses, slowly letting Alec's wrist go. "So... the information can be blocked then."

"Not blocked, really. More like deflected. It's actually the brain's ability to override the retrieval reflex."

"And like any reflex, it's hard to overcome. Which is why so few people can do it and why seventy-five percent end up in the nuthouse... because they can't control it."

"Exactly." Alec nods. "You have this notepad coming at your face twenty-four/seven, eventually you'll go insane."

"Okay, so... why hasn't Scott been bothered before? Why did it take this long?"

Alec shrugs. "Everyone is different. If I had to guess, I'd say it was because he wasn't being bombarded all the time - just once in a while. When he'd see me, or Phinox, for example. But what other visual triggers are there? Not very many. For someone actually in Agency surroundings every day, they come into contact with visual triggers constantly - literally. Every face they see is a trigger. Every location, map, file, you name it - which is why they lose their minds so quickly. Scott... I'd say it's just now catching up with him. Among other things."

"Other things?"

"Well... from what I hear, he's pretty angry... having trouble with nightmares, that sort of thing." Alec eyes Hope again, sensing that this subject was close to her. "Right?" Receiving affirmation, he nods.

"Would gaining control help those things?" Rick asks.

"Not really. Probably the other way around. His nightmares might be providing visual triggers, which makes them all the more real to him - so even if he isn't seeing Phinox, in his dreams he's seeing other things. But... controlling the reflex isn't going to make him less angry that he was captured... or less likely to have bad dreams about being tortured. I'd have nightmares too if that were me. Those elements are connected, but not dependent on each other." His eyes drift back to Hope. "That would have to be your and the hospital's department."

Rick sits back, feeling as thought they had just gained a giant step in understanding this whole thing. "How does someone gain control?"

"Like I said... practice."

"But what does that mean?"

"For some people, nothing. Some people just aren't capable of overriding a reflex. But those that are, they need to put themselves through the routine of retrieving and deflecting. It would be like you letting me swing the notepad at you several times a day so you could work on your block."

"So you're saying that Scott needs to allow the visual triggers to take place so he can learn to block them?"

"Deflect," Alec corrects. "He'll always wind up feeling something when he sees me or Phinox or anybody else whose file he memorized. But if he can control it, it won't take over his other senses. When I swing the notepad at you, your eyes zero in on it and your brain totally focuses on that one thing to judge it, decide whether or not you're going to stop it, then command an action, passive or aggressive. Basically what you'd need to do is learn to deflect rather than stop." He prepares to swing again. "Here... don't stop me. Deflect me... redirect me." He swings.

This time instead of grabbing Alec's wrist, Rick blocks with his hand, sending the notepad sliding down his arm and away from his face.

Alec freezes where he is. "The notepad still exists. But it's not in your face. You can still focus on it and decide to discard the information that the notepad has presented, or turn and pay attention to it."

"Can someone really accomplish that? The reality of the assimilation, I mean. Is it really possible for someone to control it that precisely?"

"Surprisingly, yes." Alec nods. "I've seen it. But it's not the majority, and I don't know if Scott can do it or not. Problem is... the practice of deflecting visual triggers requires the triggers to be present. And right now, I assume Scott wants nothing to do with them. But him ignoring the data he has, or trying to, is only going to make things worse, because he'll never train himself, and... like most, he'll literally go insane eventually."

Rick is silent for several moments, thinking through all they had just learned. "And that's the only way? Forcing visual triggers on him in an attempt for him to gain control?"

"Unfortunately. It would be like me whacking this notepad over the head of a child. Eventually they might get the idea and be able to stop me. But would they have the strength? Who knows. It might take a year for them to have enough muscle strength... but only if they didn't give up in the meantime." Alec sighs. "The Agency is still trying to perfect their own technology. They want it to be easier so they can assimilate more people to distribute more data. Currently there really is no other answer. I will say this though... if Scott has anger issues, and issues with nightmares and dealing with the past, it's just going to make all this harder. He's got more than one thing going against him." He thinks for a few seconds. "Physical exercise helps though."

"What?"

"Exercise... how it effects and stimulates the brain. With the one partner I had, it was easier for him to exercise his mind after he went for a run or sparred or anything like that. It had something to do with the area of the brain that was being used." Alec shrugs. "It's like going for a walk to clear your head... it can kind of be scientifically backed up but can't really be explained. But it's that same principle. It doesn't guarantee anything. I'm not saying that if Scott goes for a run then practices with visual triggers that he'll automatically be able to control it. But... it might help. Body and mind work together." His eyes move to Hope again. "I'm sure that's an elementary principle to someone like you."

Rick sighs deeply, taking it all in before he gets to his feet, wandering towards his counter. "That's a lot of information."

"Yep." Alec watches him, then returns his gaze to Hope. Rick was the one with all the technical questions. It wasn't surprising... he was the one who had dealt with Jason and Katie's oddities, along with Scott. It was only natural he was curious. But unless Alec had pegged Hope wrong, she was even more curious than Rick - it was only her reasoning that varied. "I know you want to believe Scott's going to be okay," he comments. "But don't set your heart on it. You might be in for more heartache than you know."

"Don't you-" Dylan moves towards the door, missing BJ as the boy takes off. "You little rat," he growls. Oh, well. Who knew what he would tell Mick? If the pills couldn't be found, then what proof was there?

Looking both ways, he heads towards his bunk at a brisk pace.

Mick looks out the office window and chuckles, seeing BJ running as fast as his short legs would carry him. "Now that's a boy in a hurry."

Getting up from his chair, he opens the door for his son and grins, making him slow down. "Whoa there, Bud. You in a race?"

Understand

Coming over to Alec Hope gives a soft smile feeling bad she had woke Alec. If she had known he was sleeping she would have come back another time but what was done was done she might as well ask now.

"Hey Alec. Sorry to bother you I promise this wont take long I was just hoping you could help me."

Shifting just a little and trying to get her thoughts together Hope trys to put everything together in her mind before finally asking Alec. Her own mind was swimming with so much information it was trying to process along with the hurt she was dealing with she just wanted to get what to ask right.

"My friend you might remember him Scott, He went through an assilamation with the Agency and right now he's not doing well at all with all the information running through his mind. My guess would be this information is place in the brain in areas not normally used, than it triggered by acts, words and that itself brings the information out. Is there anyway you can tell us more about the process? I'd like to understand it more."

Hope it want to understand it. Maybe if she did than she would be able to find an answer to getting Scott help. If she had no idea about his condition than how could she find the way to fix it. Understanding was really everything, and if it helped her with Scott than that was really all that mattered.

Giving a sigh and a small nod of his head Dalton had been worried that was going to be her answer. He missed his little buddy and the fun they always had. He really had thought Scott was going to be ok and now he wondered if he had overlooked the signs maybe his friend had given off. Dalton new it was not his fault but it still hurt.

"Well if you end up going to see him let me know, I'd like to go an see him too. That way we both wont have to do it alone."

Dalton gives a smile to Susanne. He wouldn't mind having her along. Hospitals were not his strong point and he hated them. So having someone to go with would be a lot better than going alone.

Squinting his little eyes at Dylan and looking back inside to the cabinets that were open BJ doesn't move but finally slowly walks to the door again stopping to look up at Dylan again.

"You are two doin sometin I saw you put that in your pocket. Dad will be mad when he finds out you took those!"

Going out the door BJ makes his way down the steps only to break into a run as he gets to the bottom. Heading across the yard he aims for the office where he new Mick and Rosetta would be.

Go ahead

Rick turns to Hope, a little surprised to see her here, but welcoming her in. Hearing she wanted to speak to Alec, he lifts his eyebrows. "To be honest, I had wondered myself if he might be able to help. Felt like a shot in the dark but... yeah, you can talk to him. Don't mind if I sit in on it too, do you?"

Moving over to the bed, Alec had dozed off about twenty minutes before. "Alec?" Rick lays a hand on his shoulder. "Alec..."

Jolted from his light sleep, Alec gives a jump, ready to fight off whoever it was that was invading.

"Easy, easy." Rick takes a step back. "Are you awake enough to answer some questions?"

Alec pull himself up into a sitting position groggily and rolls his eyes. "It never ends." He eyes Hope suspiciously. "I thought we were done."

"Unfortunately, we think you might be able to help us," Rick responds dryly. He nods to Hope. "Go ahead."

Susanne sighs and shakes her head at Dalton. "Reese said.... Scott wasn't doing very well."

She looks at the chair that had been empty for over two weeks. "I miss having him around, ya know? Always gave him a bad time but..." She shrugs. "I guess I always kind of mothered him. Maybe I shouldn't have but he was just.... Scott."

Looking back to Dalton, she tries to smile. "I know he can have visitors and I thought about going up there myself but Reese said he wasn't responding all that well."

Dylan jumps, having had no idea that BJ had followed him. "Get out of here!" he hisses angrily. "I'm not doin' nothing."

Stalking towards the door, the bottle of pills slips into his pocket. "Dad'll be mad at you when he finds out you were following me again," he threatens. Getting to the front door again, he holds it open, pointing BJ outside. "Now git before I wallup you myself."

Big Brother

Giving a little laugh as Leo helps her up Cassy laughs a little. Him buying lunch she had no problem with that and wouldn't argue. Just having Leo to eat lunch with was a nice thing.

Seeing Leo's hand held out to her Cassy takes it in her own. For a moment she just looks at it, taking in the marks showing the work he did was hard, but also the soft tone they had to him. Bringing her lips to the bruise she gives it a little kiss before pulling away and giving a smile, than letting his hand go.

"What kind of studio would I be running if I didn't? Let me grab you one."

Heading into the other bathroom Cassy grabs the first aid kit and bring it back out. Pulling out an ace bandage for Leo she throws it to him. Before closing the kit up again. Now what to do about lunch. Cassy new she was hungry but for what she wasn't sure.

"Lets see...what to eat. We've had pizza and subs already..how about chinese?"

Smiling a little as Susanne enters the office Dalton gives a nod.

"Sure, I'd love to sigh it."

Taking the card from Susanne and getting his pen Dalton jots a little message inside. He missed Scott more than anyone new. His days were long and with out his friend to mess around with. Hearing he was not doing well really hit home and he hoped Scott would be better soon.

Hey there Little Buddy. Get better soon. It's not the same around here without you talk to and hang out with. If you need anything at all give me a call. I'm rooting for ya. -Hulk.

Looking up at Susanne again he hands the card back. His eyes filled with there own emotions for his friend.

"Have you heard anything on how he's doing?"

Seeing his brother slip into the infirmary nothing seemed to get past the young boys eyes as he charges full speed ahead wanting to know what Dylan was doing and if it was anything exciting. Getting to the the door and opening it BJ watches for a long moment seeing what Dylan was doing. Something didn't seem right but he stepped in even more.

"What are you doing in Angel's house big brother?"

Entering TJY Hope had just gotten back from seeing Scott. The day had not gone as well as planned and everything seemed to be falling apart worse than before but she wouldn't give up yet.

Heading for the infirmary Hope wanted to take a shot in the dark after remember something Alec has said to her once. It was worth a shot, and if it helped than it would be well worth it.

Knocking on the door and entering Hope makes her way over to Rick gives a small smile though her eyes looked very tired.

"Rick, I was hopping if its ok I could talk with Alec about something. I remember him mentioning to me once something about what they did at the Agency and I was hoping maybe he could tell me a little more so I can help Scott better."

At this point in time anything was better than nothing even if it was a baby step twords an answer.

Kiss it

Leo laughs and shakes his head. "You keep buying me lunch and you're not gonna have enough money to finish this place."

Slithering back into the hole again, he works with the pipe one more time. "How about I buy this time?"

He grunts as he tries to loosen the pipe again. "It would make me feel better anyway." A loud clink and Leo's hand slamming into the toilet brings him back out again, this time sucking his knuckles. "That's it. You're right. Lunch."

Managing to stand up, he helps Cassy up too. "Food always helps. Now, where would you like it from this time?" Rubbing his sore hand, he grimaces a little. "Unless you can kiss this and make it feel better, maybe a trip to the medicine cabinet should come first. You got an ace bandage?"

Susanne knocks on Dalton's office door and enters slowly, giving him a small smile. "I didn't want to interrupt you... but I have this card here." She holds it up for him to see. "It's for Scott... I've been having people here sign it and... I thought you might want to too."

Dylan wanders across the lawn, looking around, his hands stuffed in his pockets. Seeing no one around and knowing that Angel was in the dining hall's kitchen with Wendy, he aims casually for the infirmary. Reaching the door, he takes one last glance around before letting himself inside.

Glancing around the first room, he sees the desk, some filing cabinets... nothing of too much interest. Ambling to the back, he tries the next door, finding it lock. Not surprising. Fishing in his pocket, Dylan draws out his pocket knife and begins working on the lock. It doesn't take him a full minute before he hears the click.

Putting the knife back, he opens the door slowly and spots the cabinets he was looking for. Heading towards it, he fingers the glass doors, reading the labels of bottles inside. He takes his time, cocking his head to see around to some of the other bottles near the back. Bingo.

Using his knife again, he picks the smaller lock on the doors until he's got it open. Reaching carefully inside, his hand is not as steady as it should be for maneuvering around all the bottles and syringes, but he manages to latch onto the pills he'd been looking for. Drawing them out, he looks at the label to make sure they were the pain killers he thought they were.

Crack Kills

Seeing Scott attitude when back completely to what it was before and his hand slips from Hope's she lets out a long sigh. Things would get better, but when? Watching Scott walk away Hope just continues to watch. Today she new there would be no more good moods or ups for Scott.

Letting out another sigh Hope walks twords the building again herself. She'd head to the library again like the day before and spend some time getting lost in some books, before going to see Scott, and than heading home again. Hope new for quite a while this would be the pattern she would follow, But for as long as it took she would.

"Ha!"

Libby can't help the chuckle that escapes her lips at his comment not minding the teasing that much. It was normal for Ty to lightly tease, if it changed now something would have to be wrong.

"I thought for sure if I called you cutie pie you might chase me down, and handsome well thats and understatement to say the least so I figured Babe would fit better."

Giving him a little slap to the shoulder Libby smiles getting there drinks and going back to set them down on the tray before picking it up and following behind Ty with a little laugh.

"Alright alright I am coming. You pick where we sit."

Watching Leo and slightly helping Cassy can't help but giggle at Leo. She thought it was kind of funny and it made her smile. Taking her foot she runs it into his and looks at home with a silly grin.

"Its ok, your making me smile. I'd rather laugh with you, than have some big plummer here, and have to look at his pants falling down all day. Crack kills you know"

Moving around again Cassy holds the pipe once more where Leo had showed her before trying again to help but feeling she really was getting in the way. She was having fun trying anyways.

"So after all this work I think its calls for lunch. Sound good to you?"

Looking up at Carson Thirteen gives a small nod. At least he was going to let her help a little though she really wanted to explain herself more to him. She didnt want him to think she was hiding while she liked it back here more and it was comfortable it was really her love for cooking that had driven her to ask.

"I'm...I'm not hiding. I've just been cooking more at home, and I like it so I though I would be happy doing that more than the tables."

Looking down at her hands for a long moment Thirteen falls silent. She thought it would be nice to learn more about cooking too so at home she could try to cook different things for Ryder. Looking up again she gives a little smile to Carson.

"Well...thank you for letting me help in the kitchen. It's better than nothing. Thank you."

Giving a little nod Thirteen leaves and heads back to her work to try and finish out the day before it was time for Ryder to come and get her so they could go home.

Even I have to

Scott's hopes are dashed as Hope backs away, refusing his request. The guilty half of him was glad his affections hadn't worked, but the other half of him was frustrated that nothing worked at all. He was stuck here, plain and simple. She knew him too well to give in and it stunk.

"I'm not hungry." His voice was quiet again, disappointed and defeated. His hand slips from hers and he puts both in his pockets instead. "I just wanna go back to my room." He starts forward at a slow pace, his feet dragging. "You do whatever you want."

Ty's eyebrows rise a little bit, a grin tugging at his mouth. "Uh, yeah... water is good." Following after her to get their drinks, he's still grinning. "Babe, huh?"

Leaning over her shoulder from behind, his face is right next to hers, the teasing glint in his eye. "I was thinking more along the lines of 'handsome' or 'cutie pie.'"

Unable to help a little laugh, he kisses her cheek before straightening up and ruffling her hair. "C'mon, hurry up, I'm starving, what's the holdup?"

Leo gives a little start, having not realized Cassy had joined him. "Yeah..." His voice seems to echo against the porcelain, his head still out of sight behind the toilet. "It just doesn't want to budge." He gives a brief grunt as he works with the awkward position.

Seeing Cassy's hand come around the other side, he takes hold of it, placing her fingers where they should be. "Grab tight there and.... don't... let it...." His wrench slips and his hand flies back, ramming the pipes that ran up the wall for the sink. "...slip." Catching his breath, he moans as the top of his hand throbs. "That was smart, Leo... really smart."

Moving around, his legs hit Cassy on the other side. "Oh, sorry." Trying to get a grip to slide out from the corner, his arm presses against hers. "Sorry again." Squirming and wriggling from between the wall and toilet, he moves around, coming up and hitting her other arm with his head. "Ah... sorry."

Breathing heavily, he just sits there a moment right next to Cassy and checks his already-bruised hand. "I'm gonna get that thing loose if it's the last thing I do." Shifting around to sit back against the wall, his food bumps her bottom. "Oops.... yeah." His face reddens slightly. "Aren't you glad you called the klutz for the toilet?"

Carson folds his arms and contemplates for a few quiet moments, watching Thirteen as she waits. He didn't like other people back here in the kitchen unless they had to be... he didn't even like his own sister helping him cook. So it had nothing to do with how he felt about a person - he simply had taken over the kitchen as his domain and he liked it that way. That didn't mean he wouldn't accept help when he needed it though, and it didn't mean he didn't have any soft spots either. The only concern he had was hibernation.

"Tell you what..." He purses his lips in thought. "For now, how about on days when I need more than two hands back here, I let you come back and help instead of Dani? She likes the tables better anyway. That way you can spend part of your time back here off and on, we can keep things going smoothly and I can teach you some more, too."

He looks at Thirteen's eyes with more compassion than he usually showed, along with a gentler tone. "I don't want you hiding back here, Thirteen. Even if it's uncomfortable to be out there, you have a lot to offer and you need to get used to being around people, okay? Even I have to go out and tend to the tables sometimes."

Pain

Taking in Scott's kiss for the long moment giving back her own passion. It had been so long since she had sheared a kiss like this in a long time. Feeling it now made Hope realize just how much she had missed it even more.

As Scott pulls away Hope wished the moment could last longer and hearing he still loved her Made Hope feel good. After everything he still did lover her so it felt good. But soon her own thoughts were stopped dead in there tracks as Scott's plea is heard. The sudden realization on what this was all about. Not an act of love, but just an act of desperation that sent a whole new pain to her heart, as a large crack formed.

The painful look passed through Hope's eyes as she backed up from the kiss with Scott her hand slipping down into his again. She was hurt, oh so hurt, but that didn't change how she felt. Scott was in there somewhere, and he would get better she new it. So she wouldn't give up no matter how much pain she did endure.

"Come on, lets go back inside now and find something to eat."

Keeping her other arm around Ty wast she she leans into him a little Libby continues to scan the menu for what she wanted only looking away for a moment to glare at the guy behind the register and than look up at the menu again.

"I think...the sesame chicken looks good so I'll have that along with a medium lo main and we can share if you like."

Libby looks back to Ty smile again before looking back to the other guy the grin on her face was large so happy to have Ty's arms around her, his affection shown to her was a nice warmth.

"I think thats all we will be having. Oh, I'll grab a water too. Did you want something to drink babe?"

Standing in the doorway now in her jeans and a t-shirt Cassy can't help but laugh just a little bit as she watched Leo. He looked like he really was having a big problem with the pipes.

"I guess these pipes are a little hold and just don't want to come free huh?"

Squatting down in front of the toilet she trys to reach around to help taking some of the pressure off one of the pipes to be able to help with taking the other off not sure if it would work or not.

"Maybe I should put in a whole new one if its this old shesh."

Watching as Alec moves over a little and pats the bed Ryan doesn't hesitate climbing up and sitting with him. Starting in on the food Ryan stops every once and a while returning the kiss to Alec not minding at all they were interrupting to meal.

"I think its funny watching Rich get all bothered."

Going in for another kiss Ryan lets it linger longer than the others bringing her hand to the side of his face till sliding to the back of his head running through his hair. Pulling away she gives a grin before going back to the food.

Watching Alec and Ryan for a long moment a grin just moves over Misty's lips as she looks over to Rick and grins.

"I guess he really is related to Carson huh?"

Shaking her head and going back to her work Misty didn't mind the missing scene at all. Her and Carson had gone though it, it was normal to her.

Continuing to look at Carson Thirteen's heart seemed to thump in her chest not sure if Carson was saying yes or no, or what he was sating. Giving a shake of her head though at his question she continues looking to look him in the eye with respect.

"No, I...I don't feel comfortable out there. I really like cooking though its a lot of fun and I feel safe back here. If...you don't want me to I understand I just though maybe the change would be nice."

Just standing there Thirteen shifts her weight a little bit waiting to see what Carson official answer was. She really did want to cook, and she new if he said no she would be hurt a little bit but he was the boss so she had to follow what he said.

Giving an even wider smile Karla didn't mind the confirmation sometimes it made her feel good. Leaning into Kip a little as he slung his arm around her Karla couldn't help but give a little laugh.

"For some reason I dont think I would mind being stuck to much."

It was nice being with Kip and his friends they often helped Karl laugh when she had nothing else to laugh about. Kip had become one of her best friends and she was so thankful he was around to help her keep her chin up.

Can't read?

Scott is still for a moment as Hope hugs him. Maybe someday he'd be lucky enough to understand how she could love him that much and still put him in a place like this.

Slowly, his own arms wrap around her, hugging her back and bringing her close to him. Resting his head on top of hers for a moment, he slips down to her cheek to give it a soft kiss. Then drawing back slightly, he pulls her away just far enough that he can lean in to press his lips to hers. He doesn't make it a quick kiss though... he takes his time. Deepening the motion, his hands rub Hope's back while the other palm moves up to cradle her face then slide around to the back of her head where his fingers could run through her hair. Pressing her against him, he tilts his head the other way, murmuring into her lips and encouraging the kiss to continue. He knew she missed times like these when they would spend evenings alone.

After several long moments of passion, Scott gradually retreats, quietly catching his breath as his fingers still comb Hope's hair, his other hand still slowly rubbing her back. Looking down into her eyes, he searches them with desperation. His voice is but a whisper. "I love you too... please... please take me home," he begs. He was ashamed of his tactic, but if it worked, he would be rid of this horrid place.

Glancing down at Libby for a moment as he asks for help with the menu, Ty is at the right angle to receive the quick kiss to his lips. Even though he had wondered if last night had been more than a one-time impulse, he hadn't thought she'd kiss him again this soon, let alone in public.

Blinking and just staring at her, he hardly even hears her reading the menu so when she stops with a giggle, he doesn't even know how to respond. "Uh..." He blinks again. "Did you just say cow brains?"

He shakes his head, suddenly realizing what an idiot he sounds like as his face grows red. He can't help a laugh though, giving Libby an extra squeeze with his arm. Looking over to the kid behind the counter, he points at the menu. "Ah... sweet and sour... chicken." He glances to Libby again. "You did say that was one of those things... up there... right?" He laughs again, feeling even more stupid.

The kid looks at them dryly with no humor. "Can't read?"

Ty quirks an eyebrow and looks back at him. "Nope. Can't respect your customers?"

The kid smirks a little, getting the point. "Just order."

Ty rolls his eyes. "I just did. Libby, what do you want?"

"Hey there." Leo smiles at Cassy, cocking his head a little. He was glad to see her practicing dance moves, showing that she hadn't given up on herself.

"Tools... yes." He takes the box, sifting through what she had. "Looks good. You can change, I'll head to the toilet."

Saluting with a wrench, he spins around and heads to the bathroom, shedding his jacket on his way. Once there, he finds the stubborn toilet and sets to work. Ten minutes later, he's lying on his back, wedged between the toilet and the wall, clinking around the pipes and trying to get some of them apart, sweat breaking out on his forehead.

Alec sits back and doesn't say much while Ryan is gone, now in sour spirits, hearing he couldn't leave. Was he to be a prisoner the rest of his life? When would they tire of him and let him go?

Joined up again with Ryan, there's a mischievous glint in his eye as she throws her comments around in front of Rick. Grabbing a chicken nugget, he nibbles on it and shrugs. "I guess I'm healing. They wont' give me as many pain meds anymore." He throws Misty a sidelong glance. "She's treating me alright though. Now I see why Carson stuck around."

Looking back at Ryan, he gives her a wink and moves over on the bed, patting the mattress for her to join him. Once they're both settled, there's barely enough room, but he doesn't care. The food is on Ryan's lap, his on arm is back around her shoulders, and one leg is hooked over hers. Munching on a french fry, he pauses to give her a kiss, then takes a sip of pop, and returns for another kiss. He enjoyed it, no doubt, but there was a bonus, knowing that they were driving Rick batty. Pretty soon, he was liable to kick one of them out.

Carson pauses his work, seeing that Thirteen really did want to talk to him. Turning around, he leans back against the counter and listens, cocking his head a little. She wanted to be back here in the kitchen? That was interesting.

Thinking a moment, he shifts his weight, considering the options. "Well... some days it gets a little busy back here, I'll admit. I do like you working tables though. The customers like you and you do a good job. You and Dani and Aerith make a good team."

He studies Thirteen's face for a moment. She's said she wanted to be back here doing something she liked. "You don't like working the tables, ay?"

Kip rolls his eyes, pretending he was going to whack Karla over the head for implying they might mind having her along. He smiles though, shaking his head.

"What? You think we're gonna drop you once we get some gigs going? Who do you think we are?"

He moves to sling an arm around Karla's shoulders. "Sorry, but I think you're stuck with us. That is... if you want to be. Now if you'd rather be left in the dust, you just say so, but I guarantee it'll be more fun running around with this bunch."

Question

Waiting for Ty to open the door for her Libby smiles and gives a small nod of her head as she heads in. She thought it was sweet for him to hold the door open for her. She'd never saw that much anymore so it was nice to know she got the winner who had manners.

Feeling Ty's arm sling over her shoulders Libby turns her head a little and gives a smile. Leaning in for a moment she gives him a quick soft kiss to the lips before turning back to the bored again.

"Lets see what they got here. They have orange chicken witch is not bad if made right, they also have Sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, fish galore, boneless ribs and some other stuff that looks like cow brains."

Libby cringes a little at the picture before giving another little giggle. She had become very use to helping Ty out when he wasn't sure when a menu said. Never missing a beat and making it look like he really couldn't read the sign. Not wanting to embarrass him at all it had being easy to act natural about it, not minding one bit.

Feeling Scott's fingers tighten about her slightly Hope squeezed back confirming him she was there, and she would keep him as safe as she could. Never would she want any ill come to him, because without him she would be mighty lonely and run the possibility of going crazy herself.

Just listing to Scott Hope was happy his had didn't slip from her giving her reassurance he did still care about her and wanted her around. She new he hated it here, and she new he hated her seeing him like this, but if you couldn't see the one you loved at his worst than you never would never know what the best was.

Stopping at the fork and hearing Scott wanted to go back Hope gave a little nod. She wouldn't make him stay out longer than he wanted to. Not starting up right away again Hope slips her arms around Scott giving him a gentile hug.

"I love you Scott, no matter what I love you now and forever, no matter how much time pass that will never change."

A soft music seemed to flow through the dance studio, not to loud but enough that it could be heard well. Over the note as Cassy holds one of her Plie as she put most her weight on the beam she new it was Leo she had been expecting.

"Hey Leo, I'm in here"

Continuing to do a few more dance movies the song ends and Cassy lowers herself to be flat on her feet again for a long moment just leaning on the beam. Her knee was throbbing but the little bit of dancing she had done, felt good.

Limping just a little more than normal she goes over to the old record player and turns the music off before turning and giving a smile at Leo. Grabbing one of the towels to wipe the sweat from her face, neck and shoulders.

"Thanks so much for coming over to fix the toilet for me. I know its not your expert area but I probably would of flooded the whole place and runed all the work we had put into it."

Going over to the trusty old desk she bends down for a moment rummaging around until she found the tool box she had been looking for. Holding it out to Leo she smiles.

"Let me go change into my jeans, and t-shirt and I will be back to help you."

Ryan gives a little nod seeing the anger in Alec's eyes he didn't blame him. She was in a way upset herself too. Leaning down to give Alec another kiss that lingered she backed away a little.

"I'll be right back."

Leaving TJY it doesn't take long before Ryan was back again with BK in hand along with drinks. Entering the infirmary again she sets the bag down by where Alec is and pulls the food out.

"Well I didn't know what I wanted today so I got a little bit of everything. Some pies, chicken nuggets, double cheese burgers. I figured we could just pick at it between gasps of air."

Ryan looks over to Rick and gives a grin before looking back to Alec again her eyes danced with amusement.

"So you look liked your scraps and what not are healing you nicely? Is your sister-in-law treating you good?"

Coming for the plat Carson had put up in the window Thirteen brings it to the table. Smiling sweetly she gotten use to a lot of the normal people who came into the dinner and more often than not she would grab those tables before the people she didn't know.

Walking back to the counter where she was wrapping the silver where Thirteen thinks for a long moment. She hadn't talked to Carson yet about switching jobes and she was a little scared but maybe now was the best time as ever. It wasnt busy so Carson could at least listen with an open mind.

Going through the double doors to the back Thirteen stands in the doorway watching Carson for a long moment before finally clearing her throat a little.

"Carson, I was wondering if you had a moment we could talk?"

Waiting for the ok Thirteen didn't want to interrupt him so she wouldn't take up much of his time. She felt a little shy about asked, but she new if she never did than she would never know.

"Umm...I was wondering if I could change jobs and working the kitchen with you? I have been learning how to cook and I'm really enjoying it...so I think I would do better back here with something I like doing."

She left it brief, but right to the point not wanting it to take to much so if Carson said no she could get over the disappointment the best she could.

Being pulled up from her comfortable spot on the floor Alice just blinks for a moment as she is swung around till finally she can get her own bearings and dances around along with Kyle.

She was so excited for him and the band this had been something they were looking forward to for a long time and now they had finally got the opportunity they were waiting for.

"YAWHOOOO....you guys are gonna be big shots not that they gave you a shot. They are not going to regret it I know it."

Seeing the look on Kips face made Karla smile even more. It was so nice to see this excitement inside of him. After all he had done for her, and on every day continuing to make her feel welcomed after everything had happened to her he deserved a little happiness himself.

"As long as Erik's mom gives me off that day, and you dont mind..."

Karla raises an eyebrow to Kip the twinkle in her eye knowing good and well what he would say but she had to say it anyways.

"...I'd like to come with you guys. I think it would be fun."

This had become Karla's home for now and that in itself had been such a great gift, having Kip's friendship was even better on top of it. Working for Erik's mom Karla had been able to save up some money but not nearly enough to get her own place yet, but she was working on it at least she had enough money to help pay for things around the house. Even though Erik's mom insisted she didn't she did anyways because it made her feel a whole lot better.

"So....if you guys become big time people with record deals, thats gonna mean I don't see you as much huh? I think I would be excited just the same for you though because this is such a big opportunity for you guys. I'm excited for you."

Broken toilet

Libby's comment makes Ty grin, though he can see that she'd just embarrassed herself, and he didn't want that. He gives her hand a little squeeze. "I like the way your hand feels too," he responds.

Getting to the restaurant, he lets her go so he can open the door for her, then enters as well. Walking up to the counter, he stares up at the menu. He hadn't told Libby that he'd only been here once or twice before with someone else. He had no idea what anything was.

Slinging an arm around her shoulder, he points to the board above the counter. "Okay... help me out here."

Scott stops with Hope and keeps his eyes down until she lifts his chin. He did still care for her... he couldn't deny his feelings for her. They didn't just go away overnight, even if he was upset that she had brought him here. He wanted to believe her... believe that there really was hope for him to get better. He just didn't think there was a way, and he wished he would have been left on his own to figure it out, instead of being brought to a place like this. He'd never wanted this. If he'd been suicidal or something, he could understand it, but... he hadn't been, and he didn't understand why he was forced here.

His fingers tighten around hers just a little. "I'm sorry," he apologizes quietly. "I hate this... I hate it here, and I hate you seeing me like this." If he hadn't known it would break her heart, he would have asked her not to come back.

Turning from her gaze, he steps forward again to keep walking slowly, avoiding more conversation. He squints a little in the sun and wipes his blind eye that had begun to water. The light and wind bothered it more than he liked to admit. It was a scar he would wear forever... a scar that went much deeper than just losing half his sight. What had started out as fear of those who had done this had become pure anger. His anger was left to eat away at him, bringing on nightmares and in turn, leading to him withdrawing from the world. And it was Agency data that drove him mad. Who here could help? He didn't believe anyone could.

Stopping at a fork in the path, Scott looks down again. "I want to go back now," he requests softly.

Something wrong with a toilet. Leo wasn't an expert, but all he would charge was lunch instead of an exorbitant plumber's fee. He hadn't seen Cassy for a few days now, after the painting had been done. He'd had full days at work, but today he had only needed to work in the morning, so he'd said he would come in and look at the toilet for her. Certainly not his area of expertise, but he'd do what he could. He'd fixed the one at the shop a few times. He'd never claim know-how in any home improvement areas, though if pressured, he might admit that he'd helped out with some plumbing, electrical work and even some carpentry down at Baxtor Studio.

Knocking on the door and waiting a moment, he lets himself into the building, scanning for Cassy. "Hello?" Shutting the door, he wanders in, breathing in the fresh scent that still lingered from the newly painted walls. Ambling towards the bathrooms, he calls for Cassy again. "Hey, Cass, you here?"

Alec recoils slightly, a new look flashing in his eyes. Reese had talked with Ryan? Again? And had informed her they thought he was lying? He blinks, speechless for just a moment... too long of a moment for someone who should be defending they'd been truthful.

Leaning back into his pillows again, he scowls at the blankets. He was a prisoner again.

"Told ya," he hisses. "I told you they wouldn't believe me."

He looks back up at Ryan, anger in his gaze, though he holds this tongue. "Yeah, bring food back then, since we obviously don't have a choice. You know what I like."

"Oh, it's a little lonely, but I'm managing." Dani smiles as she deposits dirty dishes into the sink at Mom and Pop's. She liked Ryder, but it was good to have Carson back. "I don't have anybody to pick on me in the evenings so sometimes it's boring."

Carson chuckles as he prepares another meal. "What? I figured you'd have Dalton over all the time now that I'm not around."

Dani's cheeks grow slightly warm. He hadn't been over that much yet, but when he had... well what was wrong with some kissing on the couch?

Noting the silence, Carson turns to her, his eyebrows raised as a laugh slips out. "Why, Danielle Banks, you're blushing. What is it you two do nowadays?"

"Oh, hush." Dani whacks him on the back with a towel. "You got to drive me bananas with Misty around and you two practicing Elite moves on each other and shaking the whole apartment - be glad you're not around so I can torture you the same way."

"You're sparring? With Hulk?" Carson looks at her in disbelief. Given, he and Misty never got too rough, and usually they wound up kissing more than combating, but he just couldn't imagine his sister and Dalton going at it.

Dani's cheeks grow even warmer. "Did I say that?"

"Oh." Carson goes back to his food. "So you just leave out the flying fists and get straight to the kissing. Now that I-" This time the towel is whacked over his head and he starts to laugh again. "Okay, okay, okay. I don't wanna know."

Dani giggles as she turns to head back out to the tables. "Glad you're back, Carson."

He smiles. It felt good to be back. Everything was different, yet everything was the same. He wore a wedding band now, but that didn't mean adventure would end. No... not in his life or Misty's. Finished with his plate, he takes it out to the window. "Hey, Thirteen," he calls. "Here's the redo for table six. No onions this time."

Mick stands at the window of the office, looking out to see Dylan trudge aimlessly around the ranch. Sighing, he shakes his head. "Two weeks... two weeks and he still won't look me in the eye."

Sitting back down at the desk, he rubs a hand over his face, then rests his chin in his palm, looking over at Rosetta. "Jade said all she's gotten out of him is him telling her where to go, and the next day telling her how to get there." It wouldn't surprise anyone... Dylan's language hadn't gotten any better, nor had his attitude. "I don't know what more I can do. He doesn't qualify to go back to the McClain's, and if I send him home, he's just going to get into trouble again, not to mention by this time, without seeing improvement, Jill doesn't even want to deal with him and I don't blame her. At least now she'll let me do what I see fit... but then I'm back to not knowing what to do. I'm having trouble keeping BJ away from him too, and that's just making him mad and me worried that BJ will pick up bad habits."

He groans in frustration before trying to go through his paperwork again. "Why won't you give me an answer, God?" he mumbles "Why don't I know what to do?"

"Tomorrow!" Erik slides into the sun room, throwing up his arms. "Finally!"

The others are sitting around and Kyle jumps up from the couch, letting out a whoop. "Yes!" They'd been waiting for so long, facing delay, after delay, after delay. Lately the band had even taken on some small gigs such as a party for New Years, a little charity event at the hospital, and a local event with several other small bands. It had given them good stage practice, but the recording company still hadn't given them the call they were waiting for... until now. This whole time, nothing had been normal about the way the band had formed, or how they had opportunities laid in front of them. It was not the norm and they would freely admit it. Others might be jealous of how they'd come together and how they had connections that could get them further, faster, but they gave the credit to God and always would.

Reaching down, Kyle pulls Alice up from the couch and takes her hands, dancing with her around the room. "We got our shot, we got our shot!"

Theo gives a holler and spins Twila around who shrieks and laughs. Russ does a little happy dance while Erik just stands back and watches, grinning and shaking his head. They all knew that nothing was set in stone yet. They still needed to impress in order for this thing to go anywhere. But there was no harm in lifting their spirits.

Kip remains seated on the floor with Karla and turns his head to grin at her. "This is a silly bunch." Even though he made fun of the others, the twinkle in his eye proved he was just about ready to explode with his own excitement. He'd spend a lot of time with Karla lately - mainly just hanging out in free time and including her in band activities. He'd gotten no complaints from Erik - probably because he was staying out of trouble. He nudges Karla with his elbow. "You are planning to come with us, aren't you?"

You Might Wish

Happy to walk and just enjoy the air Libby didn't mind Chinese at all. The air was nice, and it was actually starting to get warm again. Spring and Summer weather was welcome to come anytime in Libby's eyes. Enjoying the weather with Ty seemed even better to her. Since she had first met him it had been a blast spending time with him when she could and just the feeling of someone wanting to return that time was nice.

Being taken off guard and pulled from her thought Libby gives a little jump as Ty's hand fits into her. She wasn't scared, or hated the feeling she just hadn't expected it. Recovering quickly thought Libby didn't want Ty to think that the though of holding his hand was what made her jump.

Closing her fingers around his Libby looks over at Ty and gives a big smile. She likes the way his hand felt in hers it seemed to fit almost perfect and there was no awkward feeling. She felt safe with his hand wrapped around hers. She didn't know what to say to Ty, everything seemed so perfect without words to get in the way, but she had to say something right?

"I like the way your hand feels."

Once the words were out of her mouth Libby felt like she could kick herself. That had to be the stupidest thing she ever could of thought of saying. Her cheeks turn a shade of red as she looks away from Ty again having completely embarrassing herself.

Walking with Scott Hope was happy Scott had said he would come for the walk even if it really was a short one. Getting outside, getting a little sun is was defiantly better than nothing.

Helping Scott up and once outside Hope walks with him in silence. Not minding it to much, but stepping closer to him Hope slips her hand into his to hold it. Looking her fingers with his just feeling home so he new she was really there.

Looking up as Scott talks Hope lets out a small sigh hearing his words. He really didn't think people could help him? Maybe worse out of anything he'd given up on himself. Stopping Hope turns to look at Scott. Bringing a hand under his chin she lifts it so she can look him in the eye. Her own eyes showed love, and how much she cared for Scott.

"I WILL find a way to help you Scott, and its not pointless. As hard as you might wish for me to give up I wont, because I care to much to do that."

Drawing quiet Hope continues to look back into Scott's eyes. They lacked life they once had but just the same she looked to get lost looking past the storm clouds.

Looking at Rick and than back to Alec Ryan lets out a sigh. Now she felt caught in the middle. She wanted Alec to come with her, to get out of here, kiss a little get some food but she had already been told he couldn't and before they could even get out of the door they would be stopped anyways.

"I want you to come with me, I want to have our time, but we can't. I wont beat around the bush with you because you know I am straight forward. Its not Rick that wants you to stay it's Reese. He said your story doesn't match up not that he thinks you are double crossing him but that your lying all the same an for your own safety he doesn't want you to leave."

Ryan seems to roll her eyes a little still hating she was the one who had to break this new to Alec and why Reese hadn't himself. If he though Alec would take it better coming from her he was wrong, if he was going to get mad he was going to get mad one way or the other.

"So, why dont I not wast time standing here, and I will go get something so at least we can have a little time together...and Rick there will just have to deal with the kissing. What do ya say?"

The only person

"Half hour... okay. We could just walk down the block then so it doesn't take so much time. Chinese sounds alright with me if it's okay with you."

Waiting for her, Ty heads out and upstairs again, ambling out into the sunshine. Leaving his bike where it was, he aims down the sidewalk beside Libby. He couldn't help it... his mind kept reverting to the night before. Not only their kiss, but just curling up with Libby on the couch, having his arm around her... it had felt so nice, he couldn't stop his mind from wandering back to it. Problem was, he still didn't know if it had been a fluke or not. He could just ask outright, but that didn't feel right. He could try kissing her again, but if he did that and he was wrong, it could be a disaster.

The restaurant was coming up... he didn't have an awful lot of time to find out anything, and it was going to bug him all day if he didn't come to some conclusion.

Deciding to test the waters, Ty simply slips his hand over to Libby's, catching it mid-swing as they walked. It was warm... soft. Would she mind?

Scott doesn't move when Hope comes in, but he does look up at her when she lays a hand on his shoulder. He didn't feel like going for a walk. He'd rather just stay here. In his misery, he didn't want to get up and do anything. Part of him did want to spend time with Hope. But when she was the one who had instigating putting him in this place... he didn't particularly care for intimacy at the moment.

He didn't, however, feel much different than he had a week ago, and a week ago he would have said yes to a walk, just for the sake of doing something different. He wouldn't think it up on his own, but being asked, he would have said why not. And since he didn't feel much different than he would have... why should he say no now? At the very least, maybe it would get some people off his back about "getting some fresh air," like they were always telling him to do.

It really took Scott several long moments to mull over what should have been an easy decision. One might think he wasn't going to respond at all. But finally he shrugs and gets to his feet. "A short one," he answers lamely.

Putting on his shoes and jacket, he doesn't say much more, his posture still showing a defeated countenance. Down the hall, ascending two flights of stairs, and out the door, under the careful eye of the aid who had a desk near the exit, Scott went with Hope. Once outside, the path was easy to choose. There was a sidewalk that wound around the entire campus if one wanted to take that much time. Benches were along the way, and a short distance away was a nice grassy area with trees. Quiet peaceful if someone were looking to enjoy it.

Scott's walk is slower than normal, his energy gone. Maybe it had been this way for longer than a few weeks. Maybe he had hid it well. He didn't think he had... but perhaps he wanted to be better more than he actually was so he'd fooled even himself. When had the darkness taken over again? He had seen the light... touched it... felt it... all those sessions with Hope - he had taken his life back. Perhaps it was the intensifying Agency data that had dragged him back down. If he had to pinpoint a time when he felt he had started to go downhill again, it would have been when the data had started cropping up constantly. It had started out just occasionally, proving he'd been assimilated, and Carson had forced him to use it. But after that, he'd quit... he didn't want to think about all that his subconscious now knew, so he had tried to close that door. When had he begun to see the dark cloud of depression? When that door had been forced open against his will and now the Agency data ran rampant through his mind, uncontrolled and lethal.

"Being here's not gonna help me, ya know." His tone was bitter as he stared at the sidewalk, still walking slowly. "It doesn't matter... if you couldn't help me, no one here can. It's useless. Fighting against what the Agency did to me is pointless. I wish you'd just give up."

Alec grimaces a little. "I know everything that's in the break room and nothing is appealing. But I'd have to have you go pick something up and waste half of your hour, so how about I come with you?"

"No you're not," Rick intervenes from the counter. "You're not going anywhere yet. You need to lie still."

"Aw, come on," Alec argues. "I've had worse. Besides, I'm going crazy in here."

"Tough. Doctor's orders." Rick wouldn't be pressing the issue if he didn't know Reese didn't want Alec to leave. As it was, Alec's medical condition was the only excuse he had for keeping him here without exposing the truth and risking a fight.

Alec's eyes narrow and he sits up in bed. "I'll go if I dang well please. I feel well enough to walk to a car, sit, and walk back in."

"No." Rick shakes his head. "You're staying." He looks to Ryan and sighs. "Seeing as though you are the only person he will listen to, would you please tell him to stay?"

Half Hour

Continuing to smile at Ty as he draws closer Libby just looked back at him as he continued to look at her. Searching his own gaze she couldn't help but wonder why he was looking at her for so long. It didn't bother her but maybe he was looking for an answer about yesterday, should she say something? Was he shocked and now didn't know how to act around her?

About to say something Libby stops at Ty's question and a little color comes to her face for just a second. Looking down at her watch to see what time it was she looks back up and gives a nod.

"I can go on lunch now. I get a half hour so if you want afterward you can still hang out with me. Than I can show you what I do in this dusty old dungeon all day."

Giving another smile a bit of humor laced Libby's eyes. Other than how quiet it was down here she loved her job. Being able to save the old books was an accomplishment to her. It was a good way to let your mind get lost from thing you didn't want to think of too witch more often than not worked out for Libby. The only bright spots in her day lately had been her time with Ty and she enjoyed every moment.

Leaving Dr. Hawks office Hope finds herself outside Scott's door once again. Just standing there for a long moment she lets out a sigh before knocking on the door. Entering and seeing Scott on the floor with the dark circles under his eyes she new he had a rough night.

Coming over and placing a hand on his shoulder she gives a soft smile. Not sure what he was going to say, or if he was going to tell her to go. Hope just wanted him to know she was there today.

"Morning Scott. I thought if you were up to it we could go for a walk today?!"

Misty can't help but chuckle at Rick thinking it was kind of funny. First he had to deal with Carson and herself now Ryan and Alec. It was humors.

Letting a low growl in her throat as Alec kissed her again Ryan didn't mind one bit other people were in the room. They wanted to watch more power to them really. Pulling away from Alec Ryan's eyes dance like they had so many times before when being around Alec.

"I have an hour today before I have to be back to work. So if you feel as though you can hobble a little we can go to there fancy break room and see if they have anything good to eat. Or I can go grab us something and come back. You choose today."

Ryan wasnt sure if Alec new about what Reese had said that he couldn't leave anymore, let along even want to leave in his condition knowing he was probably still sore.

Staring

Reese watches Ryan leave and lets out a little sigh. He didn't know about her... he just didn't know. She seemed to have a very good head on her shoulders, but Reese didn't believe she'd rat on Alec if she found out anything bad, regardless of who was in danger. It might be considered loyal, but it could be dangerous, and Reese just hoped that she'd be smart around Alec.

Alec grins when he sees Ryan, and puts a hand up alongside her face as she kisses him. "Mmm... I think that made me feel a little better," he surmises. "How about we see to make sure?" Pulling her head back down, he gives her an even longer kiss. "Yeah... yeah, I definitely think you help. We'll have to do this more often."

Rick is standing nearby and he catches Misty's eye, rolling his eyes.

Alec leans his head back again and gives a little shrug. "I guess I'm feeling about as good as I look. How long we got today?"

Dr. Hawks nods, his tone remaining gentle. "I'll continue to keep you informed... I know your situation is kind of unique with the relationship you have with Scott - I know you care, and I'm glad to see it. Too many times we get patients dropped off here by family members who have stopped caring because it's just too much effort."

Standing up, he sees Hope to the door. "I have a time set up this afternoon to see Scott again, but you will probably be gone. If anything happens, I'll be sure to let you know."

Sitting on the floor under the window, Scott crosses his legs and remains in silence. Last night had not been a good one. A nightmare had woken him in a panic and he'd made it all the way down the hall before an aid had caught him to keep him from falling down the stairs. It had taken an hour to settle down after that. Needless to say, no sleep had come after that. Dark circles were under his eyes and his expression was weary. He didn't know or care what time it was. If he had to be somewhere, they would come and get him.

He could go for a walk. He could go to the library. He could find activities to stay occupied. But he just didn't want to. All motivation was gone. All had was his silence... and the images that ran through his mind. It was a nightmare of the past. And it was Agency data, colliding into one mass of chaos. Maybe he really was going crazy.

Ty grins and wanders closer to Libby, his thumbs hooked in his jeans pockets. "Yeah, I'll be dead at work tonight, but I couldn't sleep. Bike ride was good though."

For a quiet moment, he searches Libby's eyes, looking for something he'd seen last night. Was that same timid spark there? The one that had approved of their kiss? He wasn't sure. Was today different? Or did she still feel the same way? Was it a one-time, never-do-that-again thing, or was it something she still wanted? He couldn't find the answer in her gaze, and he bites his lip, realizing he'd been stuck staring.

"Uh..." He looks away, trying to get his mind to function again. "I wondered if you would be able to take a break for lunch." He shrugs. "If not, I figured I'd just hang out for a while or something."

3/18/10

To say Hello

Standing in Reese office Ryan couldn't help but wonder what was going on now. The last time she had been in here it had been for about an hour she'd been question and hounded about Alec. She'd never had much luck in this office so she wasn't expecting it now.

Just listing to Reese Ryan nods once or twice just to let him know she was listing. She really hadn't though about Alec lying about everything. Not that she thought he wouldnt, or couldnt but she just hadn't though he did.

Waiting for Reese to finish talking Ryan cross her arms across her chest letting out a long sigh looking back at Reese. She wasn't cocky, but she held her head high not backing into a corner like a child. Her voice was firm but different from when she had talked to Jason knowing talking to the big boss was just a little bit different.

"I don't know anything more that what I have already told you people two times now. As for if Alec says anything I will keep what you said in mind and consider what I tell you. I don't make a habit of running right off to someone else and blabbing stuff I have been told. But like I said I'll keep it in mind."

Turning and going to the door Ryan stops before going out. Looking over her shoulder at Reese Ryan gives a small smile.

"You can call me Ryan by the way. Ms. McKade was my mother and she's been gone for a while now."

Leaving Reese office Ryan lets the door fall softly shut behind her moving her way through where Susanne was and than out into the cubicle area. Crossing that and coming to the infirmary Ryan gives it a small knock before entering. Giving a smile to Rick and Misty she says noting making her way over to Alec's bed.

"You look like your slightly better today. How do you really feel though?"

Ryan gives Alec a grin as she draws closer to the bed. The bruises were taking on a yellow color that at least mean they were healing.

Leaning in Ryan press her lips to Alec's to say hello her hand finding the side of is face letting it linger for a long moment before pulling away to let him answer her questions.

Entering Dr. Hawks office Hope offers a smile and lets the bag from her shoulder slip down to the ground as she sat down in one of the very comfortable chairs. Hearing the Dr wanted to fill her in on a few things made Hope feel good knowing they wanted to keep in the loop. Not only because Scott was her pashent but because of her close bond with him too.

Just listing and nodding her head slightly Hope took in what the Dr was saying with an open mind. Happy to have what someone else though about the situation out on the table so maybe she could see another angle.

"Thats a very intresting though you have about Scott's eating and it does making a lot of sense. So in a way its not his own fault, he just needs to train himself again. I would guess as well he is in a consistent about of pain mentally, and physically that maybe he cant even tell hunger pains apart from the other things he is feeling."

The wheels in Hope's head starts turning thinking and continuing to process everything. It was important to take in everything and remember the details.

As Dr Hawks starts to talk again Hope eyes seem to change a little. It hurt to think Scott didn't even want to take pictures anymore when it had been something he'd loved so much. Thats why she made sure to bring his camera with them.

"Yes, I can take it and put it in my car. That way when Scott is ready it will be there for him. Hearing something like he threw an item that meant so much to him away really stings you know because its a sure sign of just how far he's drifted."

Letting out a sigh and running a hand over her tired face Hope nods again. She'd told Scott she would come ever day no matter if he wanted to see her or not and she was happy the Dr agreed.

"Yes, I figured it would be the best thing even if he didn't want to see me I would come letting him know I was here, keep myself busy someplace for about an hour and than let him know when I was going again. I figured it would help him show I wasn't giving up on him, and I would be there when he was ready. I am happy you agree with me on that Dr. I do thank you for keeping me posted on what was going on as well."

Busy trying to tape on of the binding of a book that desperately needed to be throw out, Libby had refused to do so yet. If she could just get the tape to hold in the right place the book could at least get a years more use. Wrapped up in her work and having earphones in she hadn't hurt Ty enter the room.

As the song ended though that she was listing to Ty talked at the same time so she could hear him. Giving a jump Libby takes the ear phones from her ears and turns in her chair putting the book she was working on down.

Seeing Ty standing there a smile spreads across Libby's face. It was a nice surprise to see him there. Standing from her chair she looks back at the books and gives a little laugh.

"As hard as I can. You'd never believe how long it takes to repair just one book. Feels like I am never going to catch up."

Looking back to Ty again her eyes sparkle her heart giving a little flutter. She really was happy he had come to see her and only hoped it was not because he had ill news to tell her.

"It's a nice surprise to see you. I thought for sure by now you would be fast asleep in dream land."

Hard at work

Reese sighs deeply, having to agree with Phinox. "Yeah... I think you're right. I just wish I knew what he was scared of... or what he thinks he needs to be scared of. There's got to be a missing piece somewhere."

Leaning back, he scans his desk and holds up his hands. "I guess that's it for now. Thanks, Phinox. I may come to you again."

Ty grins a little as Libby gets comfortable with him, liking everything from her hand in his, to her foot wrapping around his. It just felt... good. Would he feel stupid tomorrow? He had no idea. But he might as well live and enjoy now for what it was worth and worry about feeling stupid later.

Eventually, it was Wyatt who broke up the scene as he got home from work to find both asleep on the couch. It was late, and Ty hated to say goodnight, but he knew he must. So all that was left was watching Libby drive away as he stood on the porch, tracking the tail lights of her pickup until they were gone.

By noon the next day, Alec is sitting up in bed, starting to feel better as his bruises have begun to lessen. Still in pain though, he doesn't move around much yet, mostly sleeping or bothering Misty when she walked by. Supper with Ryan last night had been enjoyed, though he would rather not have had the audience of Rick... however when coming up for air after a goodnight kiss, Rick was suddenly nowhere to be found.

Ryan had said she'd be back today, so Alec waited - he had nothing better to do. Little did he know that Ryan was already here, but Reese had summoned her into his office.

Reese looks across his desk at Ryan, very calmly, almost gently. "Miss McKade... I know we don't have a great history here, so I'll make this brief. All I ask is that you hear me out."

He sighs, knowing Ryan probably wouldn't like what he had to say. "Another agent and I suspect that Alec is lying about his kidnapping. We're not sure why or for what gain, but I need not list all the things he's contradicted himself with, telling us his story. It's very obvious that he's lying. The problem is, that we need to know why."

He purses his lips. "Contrary to what you may think, I'm not out to get Alec and I'm not trying to trap him or prove he's bad. This is for his own safety, and for all ours too. Playing around with the Agency is extremely dangerous and we need to figure out why Alec is lying before it's too late."

Reese pauses, searching Ryan's eyes. "If you know anything, or if Alec tells you anything differently than he already has, please.... please for everyone's safety, let me know. But as long as we know Alec is lying, I can't let him out anymore. We need to know the truth."

"Glad to see you again, Doctor Garrison." Dr. Hawks smiles as he sits down on the corner of his desk in his office, having taken time to talk to Hope when she'd arrived to see Scott again.

"I just thought I'd let you know a few things before you saw Scott again. I have some concerns, and I guess I wanted to know your perspective and just forewarn you as well."

He folds his hands and shifts a little, thinking. "Scott still isn't eating. He had a piece of bread and some juice last night, but that's all he had the night before, too. He says he isn't hungry. Personally, I think it's been so long since he's eaten well and regularly, that he's forgotten what hungry feels like. Even when he was in a state of improvement, it would be my guess that he wasn't eating all that well then either. He's let himself get so far that hunger isn't important to him anymore. He doesn't know when his body is asking for food. That's half the battle - the other half is making him actually care enough to learn how to eat again."

Dr. Hawks sighs, though he doesn't want to worry Hope too much. He did want to be honest with her though. "Scott's aid, Jenny, who you met, she told me that she found Scott's camera in the garbage yesterday morning. She took it to lot and found so it wouldn't be thrown away. I thought perhaps you would like to take it instead though. I read that photography was Scott's main hobby, so I'm assuming he threw his camera out as a statement that his hobby doesn't matter while he's here. He feels his life has been taken from him, so what's the point in trying to do something he enjoys."

Pausing again, Dr. Hawks lets Hope process everything he was telling her. "Obviously you know very well the psychological patterns of patients, though I'm sure it's different being as close as you are to Scott. I know he probably doesn't want to see you but... even if he hates you, your persistence and consistency in coming is one of the best things you can do."

It was pretty unusual to see Ty in a library, for obvious reasons. There wasn't much point to him being there when he couldn't read, and usually he was sleeping during the hours it was open. He should be sleeping now since he had to work tonight, but the bike ride had felt good. It was a nice day out and the exercise had been what he needed.

Parking his bike out front, he spies Libby's truck and heads for the library's front door. Once inside, he isn't sure where to go, but asking directions, he finds the stairway that leads downstairs. Wandering around for a few minutes, he finally finds the room where Libby was working. Ambling in, he looks at all the books around him, his nose catching the scent of old books and dust. "Hey... looks like someone's hard at work."

Wrapped up

Phinox thinks for a long moment on what Reese was saying and all the questions he had. It might have been a while since he was with the Agency but he had made a job out of remembering everything he could. His training, the training of other along with other stuff only to be able to help the Elite that much more.

"If he really was set back here by the Elite from my experience he would in fact do a whole lot better with his lying. With his story each time its something different and that causes holes and gaps. Trying to over up for people like the Agency you wouldn't want to cause holes because we would start looking into it."

Straightening a little more in his chair Phinox falls quest again thinking for a long moment just letting the silence in the room take over. Processing everything in his own mind before he spoke again.

"The Agency knows he's been here, they wouldn't feed him back in forth because they know we have people like Carson on our side. We can make him tell us anything about the Agecny if held onto long enough. They wouldn't risk it like that. It would be better for them to kill Alec off and send someone new in undercover than have someone who had been captured."

Standing and pacing a little Phinox brings a hand to his chin. He wasn't sure why Alec would be lying to be honest, and he didn't have a full answer for Reese. His only thoughts were assumptions and putting half peaces together.

"If I was to guess by his actions I would say he's scared and thats why he is lying. Working for the Agency again...No I don't think so I think they would of killed him where he stood even after he said he told us nothing. It feels like he's lying because he's running from something as to what..I don't know. It could very well be the Agency did try to kill him."

Moving up to the couch with Ty Libby didn't object as she make herself comfortable in front of Ty. Leaning her head down on top of the pillow Libby let out a content sigh. Would this last longer than a day? Libby didn't know but she did hope. Being with Ty was so nice, and the way he treated her made her feel so good compared to those at home.

Keeping her fingers locked with Ty's Libby said nothing laying there with Ty. His arm around her she felt safe, and ready to watch the rest of the movie now. Her foot finding his Libby links it around his just resting it there, being totally wrapped up with Ty.

Rewind

Ty didn't know how long they'd been embracing or how long the slow kiss had continued. He had not expected to experience this with Libby, but now that he was here, it felt so good.

Eventually he knows that they need to pull away, lest they make some bad decisions. But he lets the kiss linger for a few more moments, drinking in the last bit of incredibly warm feelings. Drawing back slightly, a smile comes to his lips and he gives Libby's nose a soft little kiss. "I think we both won," he concludes quietly.

Still grinning, he pulls himself up, relieving the weight from Libby. Helping her up off the floor too, he keeps her hand in his, pulling her back to the couch with him. Then lying on his side, he eases her down with him so she could lie in front of him. With his chin right above her head, he could still see the television, and his arm drapes around her waist, tucking her in closely to him, her back against his stomach and chest.

Kissing the top of her head, he settles his own head into a throw pillow before finding the remote and rewinding the movie.

Reese lets out a little groan and rubs his forehead wearily. "Why is he lying?" He looks over to the chairs on the other side of the desk where Phinox was sitting after bringing the report on Alec. "And he's not even doing a good job." He shrugs. "That would indicate panic to me... but why? I mean, you're right - any decent Agency member is going to not only have a keen sense of direction, but they could lie through their teeth and no one would ever know. Alec is messing up his story big time."

Still thinking, he shakes his head. "Maybe he wanted it to seem real... you know, an average person might contradict themselves a few times if they'd been through trauma like a kidnapping. But would he really think that we would view him as average? But then we're still back to square one - why would he lie at all?"

Looking at Phinox, he just lets the wheels in his mind turn for a few moments. "Do you think he was sent back here for a purpose? I mean... bad intentions from the Agency? Make it look like they tried to kill him, then send him here to feed them information? He should still lie better if that was the case, but setting that aside, it's possible, isn't it? I mean, he's been helping us a bit lately, sure but... if they made a better deal with him or he finally got that freedom he wants... do you think he would come back here and double-cross us?"
