Somebody Cared

Eric's cheeks flush, but he grins. "Mmm... I think I can do that. I like it when you look in my eyes."

Giving her an extra little squeeze, he finally lets her go. "I do think I should probably shower before supper though," he admits sheepishly. "I'll see you in a few minutes."

Hunter chuckles, rolling his eyes at Katie's compliment of being cleaned up. "I've never been more ready to eat."

Stepping down off the porch with her, as they walk slowly, he glances at her, wondering if it was his imagination, or if her eyes were dimmer than earlier. She'd been so affectionate... in such a good mood. But there was something suddenly quiet about her. Had he done anything wrong? He hope not.

Slipping his hand into hers, he gives it a playful tug. "Everything okay?"

Misty's hand on Alec's shoulder was a comfort to him, whether he'd ever admit it or not. He doesn't look up for fear of exposing his tears, but nods his response so she knows he heard her. Things had to be okay... they just had to be.

Left alone, he hears Misty making her way to bed. Though still upset, he manages to at least finish his food so his stomach would be satisfied. Crawling under the blanket on the couch, he buries his face in his pillow, wishing that when he awoke, the world would just be gone...

...Prying his eyes open and staring numbly into the living room, Alec saw sunshine pouring in through the windows. He automatically squints up at the clock, finding he'd slept in a lot later than intended. He hadn't even heard Misty get up and leave for work.

Forcing himself to get up and take a shower, he feels a little better afterward and not as depressed as the night before. At least today he could work more in the shed... the place that was going to be his. He could stay here. He had a new home. Somebody cared about him.

Poking his head into the infirmary and making sure Rick was gone, Jason spies Misty at her desk. It had been a crazy morning at work, and he hadn't even seen her yet to ask if they were going to do anything for lunch or dinner... or both. He'd had a great time last night... he'd slept well and had woken refreshed... and he was looking forward to today for the first time in a long time. His only question was whether or not Misty felt about him the same as she had yesterday.

Grabbing one of the rolling chairs at the counter, he sets down on it hard and pushes off with his feet, shooting across the slick floor to stop just inches from Misty's desk. Giving her a silly grin, Jason's eyes twinkle. "Hi."
