Having been so lost in thought, Sapphire's touch to his shoulder makes him jump and he looks to her quickly. The look on his face could be read so many different ways.
Trying to concentrate on the phone call, he wraps it up before responding to Sapphire.
"Um... okay. Thank you, Reese... yeah....merry Christmas." Hanging up the phone, he finally turns to Sapphire. But instead of saying anything right away, he pulls her into a hug, burying his face in her shoulder. Sometimes... maybe Christmas miracles did happen.
Pulling away, tears still glisten in his eyes and he looks into Sapphire's gaze. "Reese had a new tape... something Alec said to somebody at TJY... he... got a bright idea and even forced Brown to talk to him today of all days."
Sniffing, Gage takes his palm to wipe his eyes, feeling a bit stupid, but he couldn't help it. For him, this stirred many different emotions.
"Apparently whatever it was... Reese pressured Brown enough and he got permission to... to release me from labor and probation."
Gage wasn't sure how to express how he felt, never having wanted to smile and cry at the same time. "It's... it's over," he confirms. He could hardly say it out loud for fear it wouldn't be true. "I'm free."
