Bye Bye

Garret's brow furrowed slightly and he shook his head at Nate. "See...that's what gets me. Reese is the head of a force of Elite agents whose goal is to take down a nearly impossible foe...yet he's a softy?" His own experiences dictated that he be confused. Any commanding officer he had ever known was far from soft. On the contrary, they were all very harsh and very hard to convince anyone was worth trusting. It's how they got their jobs done.

His eyes searched Nate's face as if looking for answers. There were few things that ever threw him for a loop - but this place and these people did. If it weren't for his determination to see his plan through, he might turn and run back to the Agency, simply because it made more sense. But something kept him here. Something bigger than he could see, but he sensed it...and it was almost frightening.

Garret dropped his gaze before returning to face the sky. He needed to take advantage of being out here, since he had no idea when he'd be let out again.

Fed up with the entire thing, Aaron reached for his rifle. "I don't know what they've done to him to make him so passive, but it ends now." Rolling back on his stomach, he used the building's short ledge to steady his sights, bringing the Elite officer into focus through the scope. He settled the cross hairs on the man's head. He couldn't stand seeing Garret like this, and he was done waiting. "One shot to the skull and bye bye agent," he mused. "And hello, Garret." His finger squeezed the trigger.

Out of nowhere, a strange sensation made the hair on the back of Garret's neck stand on end. Turning, he looked over his shoulder, his eyes traveling the distance to a nearby building where a small glint in the sunlight caught his gaze. And trusting his instincts, he knew they were being watched. But was it friend or foe?
